Hello! I have put a custom ROM on my HTC Desire HD (I am in the right place keep reading) and it was easy!
I put a custom rom on my friends Galaxy S, that was more complicated but worked! (I think I put on Gingerbread ROM? I'm not sure...)
But he can't connect to his service providers internet and can't use bluetooth...
Now I have no idea what to do... One thing I thought of doing is asking here for what the best ROM for the Galaxy S is? (Just general tweaks, speed boosts whatever)
AND I would like to know if I can use ROM Manager to simply install new roms like I do with my DHD
Thanks for any help!
No best rom its user choice .
Suggest rom kitchen .

No connection means wrong Modem and or CSC files flashed that is for a different continent enter APN details manually .
Check details on FAQs for custom rom you installed .

The best rom i have used is Darkys 9.5 stable with Darkys Dark Core 1.4.... best battery/speed combo of all rom i have used!!!!!
Check your mates APN settings for his Data/internet
(menu > settings > wireless and network > mobile networks > access point names)
if these settings are blank... he will have no internet/data conection.

Well I know we have no data connection but still, if we find its empty. What do we fill it with?
Woo! Solved the problems!!
I just wiped the whole thing, stuck on Darkys 9.5. (Thank you *Decimus*)
That fixed the Bluetooth then I just changed the access point. (This didn't work on the other ROM)

Hey guys! First of all, I'm on MIUI ROM for SGS, and not a Samsung based ROM. In mobile network settings, I can force packet data to be used over EDGE. Otherwise it keeps toggling 2G/3G automatically... which is very unnerving! No convenient "WCDMA Only" option here... Is there any alternate way by which I could do the same?
Anyone... ?
ON my new I9003, running froyo 2.2.1 I see wcdma only as an option
menu>Settings>wireless & network> mobile networks>network mode> WCDMA only
Isn't that available on galaxy s? seems the ROM you are using is not having that option.

Yes, it is. But I'm currently on a non-Samsung ROM, like I mentioned...
Then it seems its the ROM specific issue, ask the developer or other users who are using the same rom.
Yeah.......

I tried to do the *#2263# trick posted in Darkys forum to get 3g again but it dont worked.
Changed modems to one that support 3g and it didnt either.

I have a GT i9000T from telcel
please i need help to get my data connection as i had before
I dont remember GB settings so much since i've been in icssgs for a long time now, but in call settings (or something like that) try to find a setting wich allows you to change between: UMTS only, HDSPA only or HDSPA + UMTS (something like that). Try selecrting HDSPA only. It should work.
Settings>wireless n networks>mobile networks>access point names

Hello,
I'm sorry, but I don't write English very well.
I've got a Galaxy S I9000 with ICS333 2.0.1 (Android 4.0.4).
With this ROM, I don't know why, I can't use the share connection USB, Wifi or Bluetooth.
The phone checks the box during few seconds, and unchck it quickly.
The share doesn't work.
Can you help me ?
Thank you,
Fred
I had for over two months ICS333 and always the thetering had worked flawlessly. Maybe you're doing something wrong. First you have to enable in the kernel (the original kernel is Semaphore) the thetering option (net filter is called). After that you must enter in the settings menu and tick the connection share option.

Do you know how configurate Semaphore to activate the thetering ?
I'm going to search on the forum if there any topics about Semaphore and thetering.

Are you on stock or custom rom?In both cases i suggest you to reflash it and see if the problem has gone away..it could also be a baseband problem so be sure to take the most recent and suitable one for your country
Stock ROM. It makes the same even after fresh flash rom.
3g problems could depend on your apn settings..be sure that you have the right settings..What about baseband? Is that the right version for your country?Anyway i suggest you to move to a custom rom to improve user experience

Not so many custom roms for my galaxy mini plus device. And are lots of roms with huge bugs. APN settings are right.
