Hey everyone,
I'm testing Onecosmic's (outstanding) rom since about two weeks and discovered a bug which i can't report because of the 10 posts barrier so i'm going to put it in a Question:
How can i fix that the keyboard interface disappears while i am writing any kind of text?
To describe the problem:
Everytime i'm writing something (no matter if in the browser or sms or google maps or soemthing else) i have the problem that the whole keyboard interface just disappears after a few letters or words (that differs). Furthermore i am unable to reopen the keyboard for ~ 30 seconds.
I am on Galaxy S I9000 with Onecosmic's Rom RC3 but i already had the same problem with 2.11.
Everything else works pretty fine for me.
Sorry for bumping but i really need an answer to this. It is a major problem for me as not beeing able to write text messages really would make this rom unusable.
try to put htc keyboard and see if it works
Just flashed RC3.1 and wiped the cache afterward and now it works just fine. Don't know if the cache wipe or the new RC did the trick.

Me too I have the same problem like yours, but the thing is .. Did you come up from the darky rom as well? Or from Cm7?
mine the problem still persist.. any solution anyone?
I came from a stock 2.2 and then used a rooted kernel to install stock 2.3.6. Then i installed CWM and used it to flash Onecosmic's RC2.11 with glitch kernel at first, while later flashing RC3 and now RC3.1. Did everything like it is explained in the developers thread.
Perhaps you should just try to reflash RC3.1 and then wipe cache again.

Are you coming from DarkyROM? On ics.samsung-updates.com it says that there are some known issues coming from darky core kernel.
---------- Post added at 11:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:59 AM ----------
perhaps if you were in DarkyROM, flash a kernel other than darky core (maybe semaphore or fugumod), then flash onecosmic, it might work better.

Same issue here, but i think it will just need some more work by the dev's to fix it. I think it isn't that bad as you still can take pictures/video in high resolution.
You just have to live with it until it is fixed.
Hi wuggel,
Thx for the comment,,do find any battery issue on ur phone? I saw the other discussion having jvk modem could last more than 2 days with wifi always on..mine barely can last 24 hours with mild usage of cell, wifi and browsing
and it is back ... after 3 wonderful days of smooth typing the keyboard again disappears...
@riwntouk
my battery is also empty after ~ 24h but this hasn't changed since stock 2.2

Edit:
Obviously everytime the keyboard bug appears you have to wipe cache ...
Good evening guys!
So I'm stuck in a bootloop, and it doesn't look that I will come out of it. I'm running ROCKET ROM V22, and the Abyss3.9 kernel.
So what do you recomend me to do?
I'll now over the night keep my phone on, to try to get out of the bootloop. But I would need som advice what I shall do.
The problem is that the phone won't mount as a storage device in the computer. And I have no backup in my phone, only on the computer, so I can't restore it easy.
Help me! *said with panic on my voice*

Hi there,
Bootloops happen every now and then, if something collides or is misconfigured.
In my very own experience most boot loops happen to be script related.
This is why you should´t worry too much.
You still can enter CWM?
If so enter CWM and wipe completely (factory, cache, dalvik) and after that (NO REBOOT!!!) just reflash the ROM which just didn´t happen to work properly.
If it still is in boot loop there might be something wrong with the ROM.
> Rom is guarantied completet? No broken Download?
> Rom is really for the exact telephone model you got? (Galaxy S for example has several submodels which slightly differ from original)
In case you do not have a rooted device without CWM only thing you can do, is to begin from scratch by flashing an official ROM from Samsung via odin.
With that you should flash a kernel with CWM next time, cause it much easier to recover your device including you´ll keep all your private stuff.
Flashing the Samsung-Rom via odin will kill anything saved but the external SD.
hope this helps

Have done as you said, but still problems.
One of the problems maybe can be that it isn't CWM but RedPill.
Yes, I did download the whole file, so no strange abort of the download.
And this is the correct ROM for the Galaxy Note.
If I still have this problems in 24 hours I will contact my store and let them know what I think. I want my money back. I can also add that I'm studying law, so I let the lawbook speek for itself.
But thanks for a fast answer!
Well sad to hear that. Laws have to be different from those in germany
You´re obviously trying to flash inofficial stuff on your own. There is no way the shop could be made resposible for.
So take my advice and reflash official ROM before you return the device.
That will help enormously.
But before runnign too fast, try to give some more information to us here:
What ROM are you trying to flash?
What ROM is installed before trying to flash?
What Kernel is used to flash?
Are you using mobile Odin?
Try to answer questiones I just dind´t think of

The laws are maybe a little bit diffrent. For example, the first 6 months, the seller or shop needs to prove that the product was working when the sold it. Something that they have very hard to prove.
I'm trying to install the ROCKET ROM V22 for SGN.
I had the MidNote V2.0
The Abyss3.9 kernel (I think that it's the correct way of spelling it).
No, I'm not using mobile Odin.
Edit: Can I install a stocket ROM, with my phone in bootloop, and non mountin as a drive in the computer?

U could in download mode with odin pc

Quick google search shows boot loops are pretty well known with this rom.
No you only can flash original rom with odin.
If there are important data on the device connect it cia usb and boot into cwm.
Now wath what happens. If you´re lucky mass storage mode is enables in the kernel and you got your storage mounted automated.
If not it´s time to cross fingers and search for an option to mount by hand.
I´m completely new to NOTE - all my knowledge comes from my i9000 which is a mega active community compared to the one of the NOTE
There is have the choice between 5 different ICS kernels alone
Each one has it´s abilities, so does one have the option to mount storage by hand.
This option can be found in "advanced". Hope this menu option is present in your rom
good luck!

Yeah you can. Just go to this thread. Get a rootable rom downloaded. Just follow the instructions to the word of how to flash via odin. And you will have stock rom. And you can again root and install custom rom!! No need to run back to store !

Midnote 2, as in ICS Midnote? You couldn't have been on AbyssNote 3.9, because it's a gingerbread kernel.
Perhaps it was Angelom's stock ICS rooted kernel?
Or did you flash AbyssNote 3.9 from Recovery, trying to go back to GB?

Well, I had been using ICS MidNote for a short time, due to a friend mine wanted to see ICS for the Note.
Now I tried to get back to my regular GB ROM.

You have me utterly confused here...What is the latest rom you were on before this bootloop? Midnote 2 or RR 22?
If Midnote 2 (ICS) with Angelom's kernel, and you did a factory reset at some point, there's hardly anything you can do except take your phone to Samsung service. If you had CF--Root ICS kernel, then try to follow this little set of instructions:

Before this bootloop I was running MidNote V2.0, ICS. I then tried to flash ROCKET ROM, V22. And when I started up, this bootloop came up, and isn't solved in writing moment, very many hours later.

Case closed
I can now say that the case is closed. What I did is very simple. In fact, so simple I never thinked about it. The only thing I did was to unroot my phone using Odin.
But thanks for all tips and support!

Hi,
I have bought a Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000 six months ago. It always restarts by himself or crashes. And I've still couldn't find the problem. I have already tested with: Gingerbread 2.3.5, 2.3.6 and Cyanogen 7.1 and 7.2 RC1. What happens is that with Gingerbread it restarts autmatically while on the Cyanogen it only crashes and I need to remove the battery and reinsert it.
I've taken my phone to a Samsung technician. He said that my battery was with 90% of its capacity, the memory and processor were tested and they are ok. He said that it wasn't any hardware problem.
His conclusion was that Android wasn't a good OS, and that is happens with all phones. But if the hardware is OK, and I've hard resetted many times, installed a lot of differents OS, why does the problem still persists? It just doesn't make any sense.
The interesting part is that when the phone has few application, the phone works fine. It only start restarting when I install 10 applications from market, for instance. If I have 3 apps installed, it may reboot but much less frequently.
In your opinion, was the conclusion of the technician correct?
I've encountered similar problem a long time ago. At that time I deleted the apps , and then rebooted the phone, one by one and finally the SGS works fine again without a certain app. So try to find out which app crashed your phone.
App is not responsable for the reboot
Well, I don't think this issue is related to a specific application. Because the technician also noticed the problem when he installed a lot of applications that he has chosen without knowing my apps.
Besides that I am using the common ones like: Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, Skype, and BBC News. They are all updated. I don't think any of them has a bug that resets the phone.
My Phone will reboot by itself sometimes when i enable wifi
This has only started since Darky's 10.2 (JVQ kernel) has been installed on my phone. I have since installed ICSSGS 4.2 with semaphore 0.91 (no reboots) and are now back on stock (factory/carrier) gingerbread ROM and rebooting occurs when wifi is enabled sometimes.
Try cm9. I used to get random reboots on gingerbread roms but since being on cm9 I haven't had one. Current using the latest nightly with stock kernel and have been running since build 7. Battery life is great and is stable. I highly recommend
Sent from my I9000 running CM9
Something is dodgy, imho, backup all apps using Titanium, wipe phone, wipe caches, factory reset, then install stock gb, say jw4 using odin with pit file and repartition, hard reset again, then root using latest semaphore kernel. Remove usual bloatware, then Restore apps 1 by 1 to see what's causing the problem. Think its always best to start from scratch. Backup efs folder, and sms etc first.
Sent using TCP/IP
More info
Wait guys, you are using the terms I don't know.
About the comment: "then install stock gb, say jw4 using odin with pit file and repartition, hard reset again, then root using latest semaphore kernel. ", I have some questions:
What's stock gb? What is jw4? Can you send me a link about how to do so or where I can download jw4? There is semaphore kernel and stock kernel? What is the difference between them? The original kernel is not good? Why do I need to install it?
The other commend was: "Current using the latest nightly with stock kernel". I will try that. But how can I install cm9 with stock kernel? Could you send me a link with the steps?
About the comment: "I have since installed ICSSGS 4.2 with semaphore 0.91 (no reboots) and are now back on stock (factory/carrier)". Never used Ice Cream Sandwich for Samsung Galaxy S. How can I install it with semaphore 0.91? Is this OS better than Gingerbread and Cyanogen?
Sorry about the stupid questions,
Hi Seniors,
This became like a mystery for me..please help me to solve it.
Issue is like this if I install any custom or stock Gingerbread ROMS by phone works like a butter, no issue at all I can say.
But when I install any ICS or JellyBean ROM's it starts creating pain in my neck.
If I am using my phone it never restarts itself but when I lock my phone screen and keep it my pocket M finding that my phone is restarting into recovery mode itself.
Now here comes the strange part...If I play music using any music player and lock my screen it works fine, its not restarting itself ...but once I stop that music player and lock my handset screen in idle mode it goes to recovery in few secs
This only happens if I upgrade to ICS or JellyBean ROM's
One more issue...my wifi works fine If am having GingerBread install on my phone but when I install ICS/JB I cant even start it.
Have tried a lot to get it fixed....but
.....Even I want to taste ICS/JB Rom's like u guys...Please Help Your Rookie.
Thanks & Regards

Hey EwOkie,
Thanks for your courtesy mate...really appreciate it,
So here we go,
I had stock GB 2.3.6 ROM installed on my phone ;ie GT-I9000_XEU_I9000XXJW4_I9000OXAJW4_I9000XXJW4.zip,
after that I rooted my phone using CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS,
then I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cashe and installed GamerzRom v11.0 which is a GB ROM,
so far no issue...wifi is working fine, phone is not at all giving me any auto restart issue...its was working like a charm,
then I found ICS_F4k_MOD_v4.0.4_I9000_r3.zip which is an ICS ROM,
I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache, the I installed ICS_F4k_MOD_v4.0.4_I9000_r3.zip using CWM Recovery console,
it was booted fine to home screen...later on I tried connecting my phone using my wifi router I found that WiFi was not switching on at all,
I locked my phone using lock button then after few secs I am finding my phone is restarting itself in recovery mode,
restarted my back to normal and again the same issue,
I ignored it,
Then I downloaded C-RoM Mix v7 Latest 4.2.1.zip in which had a wifi bug fix,
I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache,
I flashed it using clockworkmod recovery and had eactly that same issue which I had on ICS ROM,
for WIFI issue I tried flashing wififix.zip and found no resolution,
my phone went into boot loop of Samsung Logo,
then I flashed it back to original stock rom GB 2.3.6 and my phone started working like the way it should be.
This is the whole story
I moved from GB to ICS and then to JB.
Seriously brother I have no idea why its causing this weird issue...this is why I am looking for help from AndroidXperts on XDA site
Kindly help me to sort it out.
Thanks & Regards
D.J XactiX
Ok first up thanks for the info....
When doing a complete wipe before installing another rom make sure you wipe all 4 :
Data / Factory Reset
Cache Partition
Dalvik Cache
Battery Stats
Unless the Developer for the Rom States otherwise.
I know that there are a few ICS Roms that have a lot of bugs please check Info on them before Downloading
Should tell you whats working and whats notto save hassle
As I really only use GB Roms (my own preference)
Might help to try different Modems for your Romas this can help signal/network strength, where do you stay?
Yeah flashing back to 2.3.6 will work all the time as its basically stock.
No matter what Custom Rom I try I always flash JVU 2.3.6 then Root it > then the Custom Rom I want
I never just overwrite it with another Rom...
Hopefully someone with the same Rom as yourself may help as I dont want to give wrong info ....
Or Ask on the Rom site the issue your having with it
If you do need my help ... just ask

I am followed everything what u just mentioned in ur reply allready...but no go
Me & my GF we both have i9000 and I have followed same installation process on both the phones...her phones works like a charm but mine is like an incomplete soul.
One more thing mate,I really dont understand this ......can you tell me what difference it makes to have JVU 2.3.6 or some other version...how exactly its works....u know what I mean to say.
No idea why we use 2.3.6 JVU with CF Root (Kernel for Recovery) we just do ,, suppose its the best to start with before flashing a Custom Rom
So your partners phone works ok and yours doesnt.. did you try using the PIT File and re-partition?
Check my signature at bottom its a HOW TO Guide incase you get lost
As I says I dont have a lot of experience with ICS or JB Roms as the ones i flashed in the past werent as stable and had some bugs in them
Thats why i stuck with GB Roms
plz help me
today i install a custom rom lollipop in sony xperia c3 dual
but now my phone refused to start even same issue recovery mode... now my phone completely death.. when i try to start it red +green blink but fast mode work easily .. & when i connect my phone to charger it restart it self again & again ... its show only sony logo and its restart again ..plz help me
Hi,
I have recently updated my galaxy note's firmware to 4.1.2. Eversince the upgrade, the phone hangs several times a day and has slowed down drastically.
There is a huge lag even in simple things like typing on whatsapp, clicking a photo, watching a video, playing music files.
I have seen that there are a few others who have experienced similar problem in Note II.
Can someone please suggest me a way to fix this? I am having to restart the phone atleast 6 times everyday.
Thanks

Rooting does void your warranty but the process is relatively simple. Follow 1a method in this guide.

If ever you have to return your phone to the service center, simply flash an official wipe ROM through PC Odin (that will remove the root and restore the phone to its "original" state). That's what I did when I had to replace mine (I flashed a Gingerbread ROM, made sure the phone booted fine and I was good to go).

Iam on JB DXLSE. Using Philz kernel DXLSE. Done factory reset but problem is still there. Batt drain quite fast with apps that hang once in a while. Slightly more laggy than ICS. Not the fault of kernel since Philz use stock kernel. Seems to be the problem of Rom. Media service seems to be running too often. But cant disable that app.
Anyone have any problem solving solution?:crying:

I haven't used a stock ROM for while, not because of battery drain (which is mostly app-related and can be checked with BBS), but because it was sluggish compared to CM.
As for the media scanner issue, you can try this app.

Was on stock when I did the factory reset before flashing Philz. Nothing happen to my phone but I cant confirm that nothing is wrong. Maybe its because I got away with it. But I can only let you know that I did the reset on stock JB DXLSE Rom and kernel.
Even after doing the reset. Can still notice the batt drain and sometimes some apps can hang. Theres some laggy interface. Isnt as smooth as when I was on ICS 4.04.

maybe the custom kernel that you installed eats a lot of battery and/or the apps that you installed consumes resource even on the background..
try all stock kernel and rom.. let it settle for a week..
try also to replace the battery..
now if you insist in custom kernels, due to the fact that they are proven safe and has working CWM..
try tweaking with the settings.. through its governors,,
try debloating your rom by removing unnecessary bloatwares..
see if either any of this make sense to your device..

try all stock kernel and rom.. let it settle for a week..
try also to replace the battery..
now if you insist in custom kernels, due to the fact that they are proven safe and has working CWM..
try tweaking with the settings.. through its governors,,
try debloating your rom by removing unnecessary bloatwares..
see if either any of this make sense to your device..

Philz kernel is stock kernel with brink bug removed. So basically its a stock one.
For settings. I managed to set it as the same when Iam on ICS 4.04. For bloatware, all are disabled. Practically I set it as the same when Iam on ICS 4.04. Thats why Iam sure the batt drain and slight lag is there.
Hopefully someone here have a solution to it. :fingers-crossed:

Iam on JB DXLSE. Using Philz kernel DXLSE. Done factory reset but problem is still there. Batt drain quite fast with apps that hang once in a while. Slightly more laggy than ICS. Not the fault of kernel since Philz use stock kernel. Seems to be the problem of Rom. Media service seems to be running too often. But cant disable that app.
Anyone have any problem solving solution?:crying:

One thing that I've noticed that I haven't heard people talk about (maybe because it's stupid and non-applicable) is to go into your DCIM folders, both on your SD and in the phone and delete the entire .thumbnails directory. Mine somehow managed to accumulate a good GB or so of thumbs and that appeared to be bogging down media searching.
Even after that, phone has been really laggy lately. Going into running apps, I noticed a "Software Update" process running, even though I know this phone will not OTA update. Killed that process and things were ok again. YMMV.
