Does anybody know of a good remote mouse/keyboard app for Android? I'm looking for something where I can use my phone as a trackpad/keyboard to control my PC or Mac. If anybody knows anything please let me know! Thanks!!
are you planning to be tethered to the pc ? (ie: connected thru usb port?) or are you trying to basically run a remote-desktop thru wifi a/o cell-system ?
honestly, i have no answer for you... but i must admit this is one of the more interesting questions ive seen... on the first-hand, the hero is way-too-powerful to just be using it as a mouse - altho i guess it could be used that way... otoh, i do not think that the hero would make an effective remote-desktop because it would be under-powered...
ah well, just curious... hope you find something that does whatever it is you want to do... if you are a comman-line-guy, i imagine you could remote-shell (using whatever putty-equivalent-terminals are available) into your pc...

GMote look for it in the market. works great over wifi. it is not marketed as a remote keyboard / mouse app. it is something like a video player. when it loads press menu and then touchpad.
I use TightVNC on desktop and androidVNC on phone, works well.

I have the Logitech Revue with google tv and I was wondering if it would be possible to get that controller to work as a wifi keyboard with the NC. The revue is android and there are Apps that allow the NC to control the revue, I just want a reverse capability. Thoughts?

Although I'm not 100% sure about this, I've read that wifi keyboards are not supported by the Nook (or any android device, at least not anything from 2.3 and below). The hardware has to be specifically programmed to work with an app on android, and that is why the controller-type apps (like you're talking about, and also the one that allows you to control a PC) work but a keyboard wouldn't.
I've never heard that, but it doesn't apply to all android devices because my google tv is running android 2.1. I emailed the developer of the application that allows an android device to control the google tv to ask if reverse compatibility is possible. He responded asking what device in wanted to use the keyboard with. We'll see.

Hello Everyone,
I have had my Droid 4 since launch and have been pretty much too busy for customization until now. I was able to get it rooted and everything thanks to the help of these forums, but there is one key feature I am hoping for that I have so far not been able to find a solution for anywhere here or at droidforums or with general Google searches.
I have a lapdock for my Droid, (stock Gingerbread but rooted) and I would love to be able to open a full resolution RDP session to my Windows 7 computer at home. I found that some people were able to install and run a Ubuntu image ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509836&highlight=lapdock ) however they still needed to access the GUI with a VNC client. As long as the GUI is accessed with an Android VNC app, when you use the app full screen on the lapdock it just interpolates the image (as it is running at the Droid 4's resolution of 960x540)
I know there was success with the Atrix with webtop2sd and installing applications like rdesktop to the Webtop environment itself. Has anyone tried this with the Droid 4?
If there are any other tips or tricks to get a full resolution RDP session running in Webtop I would greatly appreciate them. It also looks like once we get a ICS rom with HDMI support that it would probably work fine too, as it looks like Webtop 3.0 just gives a full resolution tablety interface instead of the desktop one, which is fine since all I want is full resolution RDP and if Android itself is full reolution it should work fine with an Android RDP client.
Thanks in advance,
Legomaniac
Stupid question, but have you tried a remote desktop app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xtralogic.android.rdpclient
i use this and it works fine, but i'm not using an docks or cables. Oh and there are free apps, i've just been using this one forever

I am well aware of the fact that there are RDP clients for Android, I have one installed and use it when I am not docked with the Lapdock. The problem is that all Android apps that are run fullscreen with the lapdock get interpolated from 960x540 to 1366x768. This produces a very fuzzy RDP session that isn't conducive to getting work done.
As I mentioned above, the Atrix community seems to have had luck with getting an ARM version of rdesktop running in Webtop. I am just hoping there is someone in the Droid 4 community who has had luck in the same area.

I have not tried this with a docking station, but .215 ICS leak's webtop works in higher resolution than mirror mode on both my TV and projector.
If you can't wait for the ICS version, I recommend installing the leak. I did and now this phone is all I wanted it to be. I'm not even going to bother installing the final ICS version anymore, because it'd only be risky in case they decide to block some features (especially important for me, being a European user).
Wait, so the .215 ICS leak supports HDMI out and works with lapdocks?
If so this is probably exactly what I need.

It supports HDMI with webtop 3 for sure, but don't have a lapdock myself for testing. Since lapdock is just HDMI + USB, I don't see any reason why it won't though!
Well, last night I installed the ICS .215 leak, and I must say, I really like Webtop 3.0! (plus ICS is just way sexier than Gingerbread)
Thanks for letting me know about HDMI working with the leak Sjaakbanaan. I had read somewhere in the forums that HDMI wasn't working, but i'm guessing that was quite an old post from when the very first ICS leak came out.
I love how apps change into "Webtop mode" which is essentially just their tablet layout. Being able to use all of the Android apps at full resolution on the lapdock is just awesome. I have a Microsoft Bluetrak USB mouse with a micro adapter that I just leave plugged into one of the Lapdock's USB ports. It is amazing! I am going to be using this setup on campus all through this year for taking notes and viewing slides in class (plus maybe some Facebook chat, lol)
Now the only issue is finding an RDP client for Android that doesn't need me to hold down the mouse button to move the cursor on the remote session. (since most So far I have only tried Teamviewer, which isn't actual RDP in the first place, i'm guessing there is a client somewhere in the Play market that is optimized for mouse input however.
Does anybody know of one of the top of their heads?
Thanks again Sjaakbanaan!
You're welcome!

I usually use an app called 'Remote RDP' for real RDP connections (it has a free version), but don't remember if it has the exact input mode that you like. On my Prime I usually prefer Splashtop (built-in version) instead of actual RDP
Hello,
Here a little guide to stream Skype on TV with Chromecast.
With Chromecast + Android,
we can make video call on TV with Skype.
The idea is to cast screen from Android to Chromecast / TV, then run Skype.
Cast screen and mirroring is the same.
Required :
- TV + Chromecast
- Android 4.4
- Chromecast app
- Skype (official version or fixed version here)
- MirrorEnabler here need ROOT if your device is not officially supported to Cast Screen with Chromecast
If the last version of Skype don’t work on your device, then install this fixed version : here.
MirrorEnabler enable mirroring from any device. Mirroring (cast screen) is the third functionality of Chromecast, which allow to duplicate your Android screen in real time to TV.
- Install Skype (I recommend the fixed version above).
- Install Chromecast on TV.
- Install MirrorEnabler (only if your device is not officially supported to Cast Screen). Enable its functions, reboot.
- Cast screen to Chromecast / TV from Chromecast app.
- Run Skype.
- Voilà !
May I be the first to say Thanks Dude ???
Has anyone successfully gotten the audio to stream through the TV as well?

Hi, did you find a way to stream the audio as well?
I'm looking for a way to fix this for so long..
Thanks in advance
Wow nice, actually i'm using my chromecast with popcorntime... Will give a shoot to this, but it's the audio working or not?
I havent tried skype but everything else I've tried has the audio go through the tv, my device is officially supported if that makes a difference.

Hey Guys!
I bought a Remix Mini and I'm very Happy with Design, Performance and Features. Now I only need two things but I didn't find something yet :/
1. Which Controller Works with RemixOS Mini? (Gamepad) I want to play Android Games and emulated Old Nintendo stuff. It would be great when This Controller also works as a remote/Mouse to navigate through Media Apps and Remix OS Settings. Do you know which Gamepads Work with it Well? (Bluetooth, WiFi, Funk,...) I didn't find a "Perfect" Solution on Google and other Forums...
2. Is there a remote I can use for Media Apps? For example for Kodi, Live TV/IPTV and other non-game-android-Apps? (Similar to a mouse but more comfortable)
And another question I have to ask:
My Mini has a Problem. When it's shut down or longtime on Stand-by, I Can't Wake it Up with Touch or Mouse click. This Touch function only works the first 1-2 hours. After that time it only works when I Switch Off and on the Power cable. Do you know what's the Problem?
I'm very thankful for answers!
Nice Greetings
Air mouse MX3 and KM800 works well. Can purchase it on ebay.

Game ctr: Tronsmart Mars G01 ( bought in 2014.. still working great)
everything else ctr: Air mouse named flymote
Cheers
I need a remote similar to the fire TV remote because I use the remix mini as a HTPC. I prefer a simple remote with few buttons- Play, fast forward and rewind buttons. I don't need a keyboard or trackpad. Which remote will you recommend?
Thanks for your replies.
