[Q] Rogers GTab Using Telus 3G Sim Card? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Rogers GTab, rooted, but not unlocked or flashed. If I carrier/sim unlock it, can anyone verify if Telus provides a regular SIM card that I can use on their 3G network? If this is possible, do I need to have the SIM card in the unit to unlock or can it be unlocked without the different SIM.
I have the iPad using the Telus Micro SIM for 3G connectivity and would like to do the same thing with my Tab.
I have a Telus Plan but it's CDMA however; they just added the 3G iPad Flex plan to my bill.
Thanks in advance.

Any Canadians out there using the GTab with a Telus SIM Data Plan?

Solved.
1) Went ahead and unlocked the Rogers GTab (via Roto instructions).
2) Grabbed a Micro Sim Adapter (bought downtown Toronto) and took the Telus Micro Sim from my iPad; installed.
3) Reboot.
4) Set up the following parameters for the Telus Network.
Name: TELUS SP
APN: sp.telus.com
Proxy: 74.49.0.18
Port: 80
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: hxxp://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
MMS Proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS Port: 80
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN type: internet + mms
all is good...

[Q] Lost 3G AT&T service after traveling overseas

While traveling overseas in Malaysia I bought a pay-as-you-go SIM card and got phone and 3G service for a week. Worked great!
Now that I'm back in the states I have no 3G service with AT&T.
What do I have to do to get my phone back to 3G service? I can call and text just fine. Wifi is fine too.
I've looked for a FAQ please point me to one if it exists.
I'm running Cognition 3.02. Probably more info is needed. If so please let me know.
Thanks,
Gary
Solved!
Did some reading on the site and found: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943937

[How To:] Step-by-Step Process to Activate Int'l Note on ATT GoPhone w/HSPA+ & MMS

[How To:] Step-by-Step Process to Activate Int'l Note on ATT GoPhone w/HSPA+ & MMS
I Figured I would make a special post for this process. Most of this info is available either here on XDA or elsewhere, but I've yet to find it all in one place in a simple and concise format. So here you go.
I successfully activated my unlocked Note yesterday and have experienced no problems with anything since. I was on a month-to-month contract with Verizon, so porting information is included.
Step-by-step process
-copied down my note's IMEI (on the sticker behind battery).
-grabbed my verizon account info (necessary for number port authorization)
-went to local att wireless store. told them i wanted to port my verizon number to a new gophone account. csr lady asked me what kind of of phone it was and if it was a smartphone. i replied "i don't know the model" and "no", respectively. they may ask you if you have the phone, just tell them you don't have it with you but want to get it set up in advance.
-csr grabbed a new sim card (cost me nothing), entered my verizon account info (ie, account number/billing address/number i'm porting) and entered the IMEI i provided.
-account set up!
-purchased a $50 unlimited gophone card and left the store with my sim card and some paperwork.
-at home i installed the sim card and activated the gophone card using instructions on the back.
-got a text from att that there was a problem with the number porting, asked me to go to att.com/port. there i entered my phone # and was notified that i needed to enter my verizon billing password to finalize the port. i did so, refreshed the port status and saw that it was successful.
-attempted phone call with my note- success!
-entered the 1st set of APN settings found at the start of the this thread. these didn't work. still had voice signal but no data.
-tried the 2nd set of APN settings. Success! Data working/MMS tested and working both ways.
-Disabled Fast Dormancy, per Jade Eyed Wolf's instructions (same thread).
-Tested data speeds with speedtest.net app: 2.36mb up/1.2mb down.
I'm now rocking unlimited voice/text/data at adequate speeds for my needs for $50 off contract. Not as fast as verizon's LTE, but I wasn't blown away by that anyway....
Hope this helps someone!
Thanks for the tip I switched to the other apn setting and got 7mbit/s

Hello Folks,
I just got myself a GoPhone sim card.
I've a friend who works at AT&T store. So he activated it using a non-smartphone.
Although he did not ask me for my Note's IMEI #.
Now when I've my sim in Note, and set up the following APN:
Name: Doesn't matter, you can call this whatever you want.
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: <none set>
APN type: internet + mms
I can see H+/3G on the phone but no internet.
Can anyone please tell me, what am I missing?
Thank you!

[Q] Really naive question about the HD and SIM cards

My employer provides me with cell service and to date hasn't cared if I use the Blackberry they provide or put the AT&T SIM in a personal phone. Provided I don't hassle the phone support staff with problems I created, of course. I've used the same SIM in 3 different phones over the past year and haven't had a single issue. I just got a used Atrix HD and discovered that it uses a micro-SIM instead of a regular size. I used a template and cut it down to size (and I think I did it correctly). I put it in the AHD and the SIM is recognized as AT&T but I cannot get data service. On first use with the bone stock ROM, I got a text message and was able to reply to it. Because I have no intention of staying stock, over the past two hours I've done the following:
Rooted
Unlocked bootloader
Installed the ATT-US_BuildA ROM
Wiped that and installed CM10.1 nightly from 05/16
I've not been able to get any data service and now the status is 'In service' for Service state, 'Disconnected' for Mobile network state, and 'Unknown' for Phone Number. Even after cutting down the SIM, I can put it back in my Blackberry and voice and data work just fine. Thus I know the SIM is healthy. Questions:
Is the mini-card slot in the AHD that finicky that a mm difference in card size will dork it up?
The SIM is several years old now. Is it obsolete for the AHD (not withstanding size)?
Are there any settings in the phone that I'm overlooking? The eBay seller was in the US but I do not know the original location of the phone.
Thanks for any advice you can provide. Unfortunately, I can't take it to an AT&T store because the account is my employer's. And my employer really doesn't want to deal with my issue that only exists because they were nice and turned a blind eye to me.
maybe you need to change your APN settings go to settings and under wireless and networks select "more...."
then mobile networks and then access point names select the menu option in the top right and select "New APN" and enter the info below

The Atrix HD doesn't have a removable battery. Do you mean you didn't power it off first? I once swapped a sim without powering off the phone and it did not cause any issues for me.
Yes... I replaced Sim while phone was powered on...
I know I can not remove battery
Metro uses cdma I believe. So that would be why there's no signal.

metro claims they can use att phones now , you need to change your apn to metro would be my best guess.
Make sure you add the Metro PCS APN settings
- Press Main
- Select Settings
- Select Wireless and Networks
- Select Mobile Networks
- Select Access point Names
- Delete all APN's in this section.
- Press Menu
- Press New APN
