notification bar colors? - Thunderbolt Themes and Apps

Is it hard to change the notification bar colors? I am running virusrom's airborne senseless, the blue theme. I like it a lot but I really want the blue parts to be pink. I have the Java and editing software to make changes to themes on my computer and I can access them on my pc and successfully turn them pink but I am guessing that the programming that runs the notification bar is a little more complicated than just say a theme you could run in pandahome or something. I don't want to just change the colors and then stupidly try to run it. Anyone have any info the care to share with me?
Heather

easiest way is to find icons you like and drag and drop them into system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi
Some of the icons are now in com.htc.resources like the 4g icon, usb, and 4 or 6 bar signal. Changing the text color is harder though, so its best not to go to light if you still have white text on the actual bar color

Thanks! I'll check into that!

Do u mean pull the framework ,drag n drop using a computer ...or can u paste using root exolorer, cuz I'm having trouble w that

Use a pc, and you need a program like winrar or 7zip don't unzip just drop the image but make sure it is named EXACTLY as the image you wish to replace.

Don't take this offensively, but are you Mexican?

K I did exactly as described above (i believe)
I meant to mod the status bar background. I used 7zip then used 'paint' ( in Windows-i don't know where program came from honestly) to color image in.
First I dropped it in (replacing old) n then I modded using 'paint'
When I finished modding, it changed within the framework. So I closed everything n pushed it bak to: /system/framework/framework-res.apk framework-res.apk
N it worked but then my battery drain was worse (monitored by current widget)
So I wiped batt stats,cache,etc... rebooted.
Then tried pulling framework cuz I have more to do n now it won't 'pull.' Says "cannot create 'framework-res.apk'; no such file or directory
N my battery drain is still bout 60mA more
Wuts up?

I'm not sure, I've seen people say that if the images are not optimized then they may slow down performance a little. I haven't noticed a change in performance or battery life, not on my Droid X or my TB. One way to get optimized images if you don't know how is to find a theme (even if it's for a different phone) that has a bar like you like and pull it from that theme.

K well that sux. I can't even pull the image cuz I can't pull the framework again. Wtf
I did a restore but the only thing changed is the framework (bak to original)
Still can't pill fw..batt drain is bad

[REQ] Black Notification Bar for eclairOG rom

I was just wondering if any themer out there could make a simple black bar for eclairOG v1.11(preferrably somewhat glossy) with a round battery icon (used in MAT-Theme, I believe its made by kspec?)
A lot of people have been asking for a black bar in the thread so I figured id try to get a themer's attention. Thank you!
To make things easier for the theme devs heres the link to the ROM
EclairOG:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=620673
and this is the theme that contains the notification bar and battery icon, id like. Thanks!
MAT-Theme:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5139150#post5139150
heres a screenshot of it:
OOhhh yes...Desperatly waiting for this
i am too, I really want it. i have really basic knowledge about theming, ive been trying to get it done myself, but all i get are bootloops...lol
I really hope someone does this haha. or a full sense/hero theme for eclair

Id be happy enough with just the black bar. I managed to modify the framework-res.apk a lil bit but all it flashed was the battery, pulldown menu and the lil network icons, but the bar still comes up white even though i used the black images from the MAT theme, eclair is so much different than donut when it comes to theming, im not asking for much, just the black bar so hopefully someone will do it, because a ton of people are asking for it on the ROMs thread.

In my opinion, i bet bbuchacher will be the first to port one to his eclair ROM, since he did so with his Super D roms

I haven't tested it. I really don't feel like spending the 30 minutes or so to set my unused G1(s) up to test it out, so nandroid before trying it.
It has the pull down, notification bar icons, and status bar from the MAT theme (all credit to the creators of the images used).
http://android-theme-minus.googlecode.com/files/simple_black_bar.zip
There are the images I used for it along with the steps I used for colorChangev3.jar based on what the images looked like.
You have to change statusbar_background.png to statusbar_background.9.png for the status bar to show up black.

you sir, are EPIC! thank you so much for taking the time to make this! I flashed it, only the text turns white, but i found out why. In 2.1 roms, the system icons are no longer located in drawable. theyve been moved to drawable-mdpi. so i think if i move your images to mdpi itll work. ah, i didnt realize that statusbar_background had to be converted to a 9.png. Thanks this has been a great learning experience for me. Ive been fumbling around with the files and images all day and all of last night trying to get it to work. I think i can fix it myself. when I do finish, ill post it here and credit you and the original themer for MAT. Thank you very very much!

[BlackBar Mod - eclairOG1.0-1.2]
I DO NOT take any credit for this.
The notification bar is from MAT Theme made by matata86
and was ported over to eclairOG by david1171
UPDATED!!!! - I found some files that were in the wrong folder, and 3 images that were missing. I moved and restored the proper files into the right places. GTalk no longer force closes, no slowdown, nothing. Everything should run fine now!
Screenshots:
Installation:
-Make sure you have no widgets on any of your home screens before flashing
-Boot into Recovery and flash normally as you would any other theme
-No Need to Wipe anything (If you really really wanna be safe, wipe dalvik, but you shouldnt need to)
DOWNLOAD HERE!!!
Oh, and i might make a couple more versions and use battery icons from other themes on xda. Thanks again david1171 for porting the black bar to eclairOG!
Nice work.
love that battery icon...
Just flashed it and running good so far
EDIT: Got the feeling, that it slows down the phone a bit...

Oh well, I was going to PM you for it. I think I know how to make it transparent, but I think the application needs to be resigned after replacing PNGs coz it didn't install. I tried signing made easy, but couldn't figure out how to make update-script.

and to anyone having problems with the black bar, ill see if i can find anything wrong with it and fix it.

[THEME|MDPI|07.12.10] LauncherPro and ADW - Metamorph - Gingerbread theme

Gingerbread is out, although some of our devices can't run it yet
So the next best thing... A Gingerbread theme
(Also btw, the status bar icons are not the official Gingerbread one's because I made this theme before Gingerbread was out, and on the leaked pictures the Status bar icons were green, unlike the grey ones, and honestly i prefer green, although I may change this
This is for MDPI Devices Only
Installation - Framework
1.Download the attached zip, named GBThings
2.Extract that, and place it on your phone.
3.Now download an application called Metamorph from the market (You must have root btw).
4.Open Metamorph and let it do it's checks...
5.Now click on Unzip/Extract theme and find the folder you put on your phone.
6.Now in that folder open the one named 'Framework' and select the Zip file inside that,
Metamorph should now extact the theme, and you should click on Apply all.
Let it do it's thing, it may freeze but leave it.
Then reboot your phone
You should notice the status bar and icons on it have changed.
ADW Users
1. Do the same as above up to step 6, instead of opening the folder 'Framework' open the one named 'ADW' then continue using the steps above.
Also you will need to create a Custom shortcut to the corresponding actions with the Gingerbread Icons included in the Zip then place them in your dock.
Launcher Pro Users
(I apologise for no tut, but I assume you know how to do this, the dock is under the Launcher pro directoy of the given folder and the icons are under the Icons directory)
Keyboard
Also in the zip is the gingerbread keyboard, flash the GBKeyboard using recovery
Link
I worked on this same sort of thing last night, if you want I can PM you all the images I did. I ripped and re-colored mine from CMH
Though I think the color on mine may be off. I used Colorify in the GIMP to put them all to Android Green (#A4C639). And my battery is crap, hah.
Status bar looks a little off compared to the pictures of gingerbread that engadget got
and can I have an image of the dock background so i can use this with LauncherPro instead of ADW?

I mean like, the dock portion is great, but the status bar looks different, the wifi is curved not just lines, the signal lines are more higher up, and the battery looks like its upright in gingerbread
Heres a little mod I did
[basically I made a new phone icon, and resized the browser icon to 40x40
I think it looks closer to the pictures, except they may be too small]

i'm still really curious about changes besides the look of the homescreen though
Why is everyone all tryin'a theme up their screens to look like the Gingerbread theme? It's so ugly. That green is ugly and there's nothing special about it.

Aww man, i've been trying to make a gingerbread themed framework-res.apk
so pushing the system_ui apk doesn't work either?

[Q] Is there a way I can get my notifications to be Black instead of that dull gray?

That's really all that I want, I don't really care about an entire theme.
Is there an easy way to get notifications like these, or is there a theme that is already like this that I can flash?
Thanks!
I'm working on one for you, been awhile since I've done this though so no promises.
~~EDIT~~ I'm having a lot of trouble finding the correct file to replace. As I said its been months and file names seem to have changed. I have one more idea and after that I'm tapped out.

Have you checked out the UOT Kitchen over in the Android themes section of there forums? You can do alot of different things. Search for UOT Kitchen. I would enter the link, but I'm on my phone.
Edit: Here is the link for the UOT Kitchen : Uot
Go to that link, click Kitchen, Pick the choices of what you would like modded, when you are finished, click the File Upload tab, where it says Select your rom from the kitchen list choose system files. Enter you framework and system.ui where it asks you to. When your done go to summary, and and choose Submit files to kitchen and go to files pickup area. Anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour and your flashable zip will pop up. Put on your sd card and flash. It sounds complicated, but after you do it once or twice its really cool.
Hopefully that helps a little. If not, sorry I wasted your time. Have a good night.

Are you referring to the notification bar where the clock and battery icons are? If so, its the statusbar_background.png in the Systemui.apk
Sent from my super sleek NS4G, powered by TeamNekkid.
If your referring to the notifications in the statusbar you can theme it easily with ZipThemer
Create a folder structure like so
Mms>res>drawable-hdpi
In the drawable-hdpi folder put the icons you want. The names ( I thik) are stat_notify_sms and stat_notify_mms. A good size is 38x38 pixels
Then go back to the main Mms folder and create a ZipThemer xml with the path set to Mms.apk
Edit: I made a ZipThemer xml and file structure for you. Just extract the zip, goto Mms> res> drawable-hdpi and put those two images in there then apply with ZipThemer
Remember if you use ZipThemer for the first time, goto the apps settings and select update edify
Here's the zip I made

Hey everyone,
first off, my apologies for replying so late. I've been busy with some ****, but finally got around to flashing the Theme I made in the UOT Kitchen.
It's looking pretty damn good to me. I was able to make the notifications black, and changed the notification bar itself a bit as well. I'm very pleased with the look so far, but as was stated in this thread, the whole process was extremely easy. Maybe the hardest part was waiting for the damn thing to be ready for download...lol
I'd post some screenshots of the notification bar, but with ShootMe not working anymore and since the Screenshot system that's built into CM exits out of the notification bar whenever I want to use it, I won't be able to provide you guys with any for now.
If anyone wants to try out the theme, I've attempted to attach it to this post.
Thank you all for your help!
There is a slight delay from the time you tap screenshot to the time it actually takes it.

[Q] Can i edit a theme apk?

I'm loving Android.
Oooh, so much.
Even more I'm loving the amount of possible customization we're given from Cyanogenmod!!
Which takes me now to theming.
Ok, so we all like it and we all love to make our minis look like they're not that mini.
I've found a very valid theme and I'm loving it to bits, but I just can't cope with the images shown during calls.
Yeah, cause apparently we use mobile phones to call people. Sometimes.
So, i went, extracted the theme apk, found the files i've been tch-tch-ing about, edited them with photoshop (didn't even bother to make anything too fancy, just some diagonal 1px stripes over a background colour plus a black gradient fading it all to black) and put them back in the apk with 7zip.
...And of course the installer spat it back in my face.
I knew it wasn't going to be that easy and i seriously only have to change 4 pngs from the whole theme (i'm fine with everything else!), so I wouldn't really want to go and make a whole new theme by myself (maybe later one day?).
So, is there a way for me to overcome this heartbreaking problem and make my life ABSOLUTELY perfect?
Thank you guys in advance, you seriously rock our android world and i'll throw in a strawberry cheesecake if you manage to give me any advices.
Peace

grap zipsigner from market, (if it's not compatible, from somewhere else) sign it and install OR push it to /system/app and set permissions to

You guys are BEAUTIFUL!
Silly stupid me. Never thought it all came down to signing the thing.
I just realized i don't have any strawberry cheesecakes with me.
Would a strawberry shortcake be ok instead?

Now, managed to install the apk and everything. Does anybody know though why dialer would fc after i edited the call background pngs?
I also edited some other parts of the theme but they don't seem to be giving me any problems.
Do i have to save them in some specific format? After i edited them in photoshop i saved them as indexed but i did notice they were slightly bigger than the source files...
Never mind. A reboot solved the problem. Have to say, i'm pretty happy now.
Thanks once more buddies!
