Could attempt it on a test build on CM7, works there from what it looks like.
Just wanted to chime in here on the subject.
Did some searching today and it lead me to the threat linked above, downloaded and flashed through rom manager. First boot took a bit longer than it usually does, thought I got stuck in a boot loop. However, I can confirm this works on the lates pre-alpha cm build!
I had to create another google account to test it out, but low and behold it actually works!
I didn't see any other posts in the thunderbolt forum acknowledging this so I thought I would let you all know.
A family member of mine has a stock tbolt and I got the latest BAMF GB Tom on mine. She texted me today and by her info in the text I had the green video camera. I hit it, it called her and I could see and hear her. She doesn't live in a 4g area nor hooked up to wifi at the moment, but for whatever reason, like I said I could see her and hear just fine. So looks like it might work from 2.2 to 2.3 with better circumstances. Hopes this helps.

I finally got gtalk video and audio working for two way calls on gingerbread
The solution has been out, but I guess I just didn't do a good job of googling. Flash this Google Package File in recovery after wiping cache and davlik.
You can also just read the thread where I got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793. The same file is listed under "to install" step#2, Alternate3.
After installing this, my Gmail app was missing so I installed it from the market. I had to install the thing twice before it finally worked b/c it force closed on me with the first install.
I haven't tested the calls on wifi yet, but it was clear on 3g. Only gripe I have is that the camera view is rotated.

I'm not sure. When I found it it was labeled honeycomb.
well they have this video over at engadget if you want to see it in action a bit : http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/05/google-shows-off-android-3-0-the-entirely-for-tablet-honeycom/
This player is pretty cool. Not to fond of the UI colors and such but with a little work it'll be nice, dark, and perfect.

from what iv read in the nexus s forum the best way is to adb push it and also delete or move the old music.apk. they are getting a lot of force closes over there if not done correctly so it could be hit or miss for now.

dunno if it was a fluke for me, but i just Odin'd EG22 (Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184134) and searched Netflix in the stock marketplace app. Found that it wasn't blocked from the epic anymore. yeah, the app is downloadable from the market and it does work on my Epic running SRF 1.2 atop Genocide 1.1. the overall responsiveness is a bit sluggish, and only being able to access my instant queue is really annoying - you'd think an official Netflix app could have an actual means of managing you DVD queued - but streaming video absolutely works.
thanks, tried it out and works like a charm.
For some reason Netflix still has the poor quality buttons at the top of the app. I'm not sure if its suppose to be like that, but has anyone experienced that?
its not a big deal, just curious.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
The app buttons stink. But even the website buttons look screwy sometimes on Chrome. I think it's just Netflix not keeping their tech up to snuff. Maybe that's why they are changing the rates on their plans.

But....when I connected to my wife's D2G it was perfect....but we were also connected to the same exact wireless. Would be interested in testing with someone else farther away that is on wi fi and then again on 3g to post actual review of Tango on the D3.

Ok! Good news everyone
Skype video works on D3 now, but not the one verizon or the marketplace provide.
3 simple steps to have skype video:
1. Download the apk file of Skype version 2.0.0.47 from the internet
2. "Clear data" for the existing skype app on your D3 (in the app management)
3. Install the apk file and enjoy skype video on ur spanking new D3
I must say, the video quality is a lot better than my Thunderbolt. It is probably because of the 2 cores
Now, if only Google took itself more seriously... sigh!

Netflix does NOT need GB to function, it appears as if it needs it for the TBolt but not overall. That being said they made Droid Bionic support available so take everything with a grain of salt. Maybe GB will be coming soon and rather than fix issues with the TBolt again soon they figured set it up for GB and users can use it then (and root users now ).

Hi all,
I just wanted to ask you about the video call capability of Optimus Black. As I know Android got embedded Video Call capability with GTalk via version 2.3.4. But as I know Optimus Black runs Froyo.
So, I own a Galaxy S2, and I want to buy a phone for my gf, only for video chat. So any of you tried; Tango, new version of Skype or Fring. Does video calling works OK?
Thanks.
i have try with skype and it's still not supported yet,,,Optimus black will be supported on skype as OPTUS have release a contract version of OB Skype Edition.just need to wait for a new version of skype to be released tho..^^
I've try many "video call" apps.
None of them are compatible with the front camera
The only app that supports p970 front camera is stock camera app
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
As mentioned above so far no video chat app suports front cam on the P970, but fring works pretty good even if you need to have a mirror to see the person you are talking to.
Hopefully 2.3 is just around the corner.

With the help of owners, I was able to add the LG Optimus 3D in the list of supported devices. If you want to help me add support for LGOB, please send me these files:
all of /system/framework/ files
/system/app/ArcCamera.odex (or .apk in case of deodexed system)
/system/app/Camera.odex (or .apk in case of deodexed system)
And I also need you as testers to verify in case I have something to test.
You can email your download link at [email protected]

The delay for the skype to become fully online is normal. I haven't found out or looked why but I'm thinking that delay is the time for it to discover online contacts and broadcasting itself to others.
With the other problem (SMS/MMS), can you describe it more? It's my first time to hear that problem (being assiciated with SMS).
