I have 3 SGS i9000 GT devices and it seems there is something strange happening with my newest device..
I thought flashing 2.3.3 with bootloader would help but it doesn't
This happend with 2.2 also..
I have installed stock 2.3.3, copied ROM (turbo GBread) flashed k13d kernel, gone into CWM and selected ROM installed it fine. Then am only able to see Recovery 3e !! CWM just dissapears!
If someone could please help me at all.
I thought loading a bootloader edition of JVK would fix the problem but it doesn't.
My other 2 GT devices (12 months old and 4 months old) do not have this same problem. I have no idea how to even decide what is the problem and who to ask, Voodoo CWM couldnt load on 2.2, I sent supercurio voodoo logs at his request but have not heard back.
Is this a known problem? Curio asked what the stock was on phone but I am unsure as I flashed darky rom to it as soon as I opened the box. If you need anymore information I would love it, I am sick of flashing it, Ive done it literally over 200 times in the last year and feel like a n00b all over again!
Hi there,
I've got a quick question about the compatibility of JVB bootloaders, with Froyo roms.
I've flashed stock JVB+bootloaders, flashed Chainfire's kernel, then installed Faryaab's F1 rom.
However, i'm considering flashing back to Darky's JS8 rom.
Which steps do i need to take?
Something like the following, perhaps:
First put Darky's rom on my internal SD card
Flash Hardcore's Froyo kernel through ODIN
Don't let the phone reboot, pull battery
Enter recovery, flash Darky's rom?
Am i missing a few steps, perhaps?
Thanks in advance.
I would also appreciate it if some one could answer OP's question. I'm not finding GB as stable as I hoped.
The new bootloaders are compatible with froyo and even eclair thus you dont have to flash the old ones. nevertheless i would recommend to do a clean install which means you should flash any stock froyo Firmware with repartition first and then flash any Kernel with cwm in order to flash the rom you want

Cheers, that's the answer i was hoping for .
Considering the modem, my guess is that it shouldn't be an issue to leave the JVK modem intact?

Click to collapse
no it shouldnt. but if you flash a custom rom afterwards it will be changed anyway
JVK is a good modem .

Hi,
I have my captivate for 1 years and I had no problem with signal and multiple rom. Monday, I wanted to install a new custom rom on 2.3 (I was on a 2.2 rom before), but I had some trouble installing it. After multiple hour of trying to install I was finally able to use it, but it was not able to connect to the mobile network
I tought maybe the 2.3 rom doesn't work so I used the stock rom odin3 one click to put it back in 2.1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Still everyting was working except it wasn't able to connect to the mobile network ...
So I decied to try cognition.
I installed the 2.3.3 stock still not working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127249
After cognition also not working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127578
There is 1 place that I got signal but it was very low (only 1 bar) when before I had signal everywhere in my city ...
I will now try to go back to Serendipity (i think I was on this rom before monday) but now I have the gingerbread bootloading, do I need to put someting else or when I will flash the serendipity it will remove it??
http://serendipity7.weebly.com/download.html
or maybe if I can install a differend baseband version? But I don't understand what baseband is compatible with wich rom ...
Now I'm on Firmware version: 2.3.3 Baseband version: I897UCKF1 Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I897UCKF1-CL273832 Build: Cognition v2
thank you for reading and helping
Install a Gb Rom Try a different modem.
I played around alot with I9000 roms but could never really find a compatible modem (low volume, less than normal signal). Finally went back to I897 specific Roms with Cog5 (GB). Back to very good volume and signal but couldn't tether so I just flashed DLEVROM v5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146176) and except for a slight in call volume reduction it seems very good so far. Best yet, since Cog5 had GB bootloaders already, I just wiped data/factory reset and wiped cache, installed DLEVROM from zip and it fired right up!
It's been problem free as I've been playing with it today. Bootloaders can mess things up so since you already have GB bootloader try DLEV after a full wipe. It loads rom, kernel, and modem for I897.
Anything else, just read the OP for the ROM of your choice and follow it exactly. If Serendipity uses Captivate or I9000 GB bootloaders it should work the same.
Any one else have other suggestions....
well i tryed serendipity VII and still no service ... (except the very one place ...)
now I just installed Dlevrom v5 ... same thing ... no service
Now i'm on the firmware 2.3.4
baseband I9000UGKC1
rkkaranrk: GB stock rom and after I use CWM to update with different modem?
in this post? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
The reason I left the I9000 ROMs (Darky JVR) was because out of the blue I lost all signal. I soft bricked it trying to change a couple of things. Ended of OneClicking all the way back to Eclair. After everything was back to normal I flashed Cog5v2 then straight to DLEV (liking DLEV ALOT!).
Might be other things to try but I find it easier to start from scratch because I don't have alot of "customizing" to redo when I change ROMs. I can't much help with the small things to try first.
Sorry....it's all I got.
still not resolve
I tryed lot of roms and now I'm back with stock 2.1 with the one click http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989 and I have no service
anyone have an idea how to solve?
where is the antenna of the phone?
I did the secret code: *#1234#
it says the version installed on the phone:
PDA: I9000XWJS7
Phone: I9000UGJK4
CSC: I897ATTJF6
Is it normal that I have different version I897 with I9000 ?
Use this link and follow these directions to get back to ATT stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989&highlight=odin+1+click
Ensure you use the file in the link, this will set you back to stock and probably fix your issue, you will then need to root your phone again
I've had the same issue but one click back to eclair has always fixed the issue. Did you flash then try a master clear. You may want to try the newer 2.3.4 Captivate ROMs. I've had better signal that the I9000 ROMs.
I solved this problem before by changing to KH3 rom!
Now the signal is really better than before!
I did the stock rom and master clear 2 times. I did it again and still no service
Now I have this
PDA: I897UCJF6
Phone: I897UCJF6
CSC: I897ATTJF6
Hey guys so I managed to upgrade my ROGERS captivate to stock 2.3.3
and succesfully rooted it. And I'm noticing lags and in general, it's slower than my older stock 2.2 with One Click Lag Fix..
I used to score almost 2k on 2.2
but now with rooted 2.3.3 I only score 1k. Is there some sort of lagfix I can do to make it less laggy and more fluid/smooth? Or should I just go back to stock 2.2 and lag fix it?
No Only 2.3.3 native rom to use lag fix was Cognition 5. That was KF1.
Uhm what does that mean? I'm kind of new.. so is that a custom ROM or something? if it is, can I flash it on a ROGERS captivate?
Any rom made for or ported to I897 would work on your I896. If you are going to move to a rom I would recommend Fasty KI2 that has Voodoo, or Fusion roms.
Thank'd
this is what you're talking about right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283828
I kind of know how to flash custom ROM's but I'm not sure what
"YOU MUST HAVE GB BOOTLOADERS" means >.>
I know that I have to get stock 2.1 and root it and then flash it...
No dont go back to stock. If you want flash a stock KI2 or KH3 with out bootloaders and use Boog's cwm kernel and flash fasty.
uhm.. to be honest I don't really know what that means @[email protected]
but wouldn't this work?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
I'm thinking just getting stock 2.1 then rooting it and then flashing...
seems more simple o:
so would this work?
For froyo roms ya. For Gingerbread is a whole other can of worms. If you are already on Gingerbread then just flash a kernel with cwm (not sure what gb you are on) and factory reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik and flash rom.
I tried installing CWM recovery with ROM manager but
when i press it it says confirm phone model and
galaxy s i9000, nexus and other phones show but not
captivate.. and which kernal do I have to flash?
Read READ READ READ READ READ and read some more. If you don't know what gb bootloaders are that should at least have 15min of reading by it self. Also, read the stickies (the posts with thumbtacks) in the development section.
Rom manager is useless. You need too flash a Kernel with CWM cooked in it. With either kernel flasher (app), ODIN or Heimdall.
T-T I poked around and read some threads.. but I'm not sure what my GB bootloaders are T-T i'll list some stuff and maybe that is the GB thing
PDA:1896UXKH2
PHONE:1896UXKH2
CSC: I896RWCKH2
T-T
so I just find any kernal with CWM and then flash it using odin?
and if i do use odin do i use .pit file?
You are on Rogers Gingerbread. You have GB bootloaders. Flash KH3 with out bootloaders found here, Then flash kernel found here (use the ODIN KH3 one). Use CWM do a factory reset, wipe cache and wipe Dalvik cache then flash Fasty or wich ever rom you like and Profit. If you going to use a Fasty with Voodoo, these kernels take a long time to boot and if voodoo is enabled you will hear chirping and take even longer.
This ins't the only way, its what I would do atleast.
Thanks so much I'll try it as soon as I get home
Sent from my SGH-I896 using XDA App
Uhm.. you put the same links twice i think both of them are
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233620
Kernel is this. You can use the search in the dev section.
Thanks! I'm going to try it now
I'll post results shortly after
I successfully flashed kernal and I hace cwm recovery now but
I can't download the fantasy 3 :/ the link is broken..
Fantasy? Im going to assume Fasty?
Edit: it seems his site is down. Going to have to wait for it.
yea I meant fasty*
I guess I'll have to wait then since fasty looks like the best option out there :/
Hi guys,
My friend has a Galaxy S I9000 running on UXKH2 2.3.3 firmware with Rogers Canada. Can you let me know what is the safe 2.3.5 firmware to upgrade to? Thanks.
In my opinion there's no "safe" or rather fully stable stock 2.3.5 firmware at this moment because of phone.apk bug.
I would flash JVT, the latest one.
ya just flash jvt but use kg3 modem and csc files. install phone fix as zip from sd card. and no forces closes....Ive been running this since it was available with no issues....unlocked phone on Rogers btw.
i've seen people talk about the phone.apk bug, but i havent had any bug with stock JVT + CF-Root 4.3.
is there a way to replicate the bug to see if i have it?
