I am seeing a noticeable decrease in battery drain when I set the nook down for the night, etc...
Even when I put it down for a few hours, the battery percentage doesn't change...
Is it because Dalingrin committed the change to allow the speaker to turn off when ALSA is not in use??
I know the sleep issue wasn't supposed to be fixed until the .32 kernel is out (not just a test version), but how can I check if .29 is going into deep sleep now?

Edit: Sorry wpbear I misinterpreted that!
I posted in the wrong thread and needed to delete it. I am back to 702 stable since USB is missing from n63 and n64. As fas as Kernels they are killing me boot loops. I have cleared cache and dalivik and still loops. I am trying to find the 1.3 OC Kernel to work on 702 stable.

You looking for the one that worked on ext3?
I went here: http://nook.handhelds.ru/dalingrin/kernels/040411/
update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-040411.zip works on CM7.0.2 stable for 1.1 OC
I then went here: http://nook.handhelds.ru/dalingrin/kernels/test_builds/
update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-042411.zip gave me boot to black screen with a cursor in top corner on CM7.0.2 stable
This cursor could be a fluke but I am really getting tired of waiting 20 min each time to restore my nandroid.
I have also tried Kernel Manager in the market and always get boot loops.
I am starting to think 1.3 OC is not worth anymore of my time.
EDIT: the ext2 and ext3 and ext4 stuff is confusing, I dont even know which CM7.0.2 stable is a 2/3/4?
They're all and always have been ext4. It's just the updater-script was manually set to something else.
Okay, flash latest nightly.
Download from dal's test directory the latest oc'd kernel.
Don't unzip it, but rather (I use 7-zip) open the file, then navigate to meta-inf>google>android>updater-script, then edit that in place. (there might be another directory between meta-inf and google, just find the updater-script).
Change where it says ext3 (or w/e it is) to ext 4. When you close that, it will ask if you want to update in the zip file, that file. Say yes, then flash that badboy!
I don't want the latest nightly anymore since usb is broke on them. I was trying to get 702 stable to run at 1.3 but every time I flash the 1.3 the system boots to a black.screen with a cursor in the corner.

Exact same problem for me too. For the time being I've settled for 1.1.
Not sure if you guys have noticed while playing with the kernels, but the nightlies are 2.3.4 and the stables are 2.3.3..... Only mentioning it, because in my reading I've seen a lot people who have been having problems switching between the 2 versions.....(myself included although my problem was related to my version of recovery 3.0.1 instead of the current).

Just flashed N64 last night along with dals 042411 kernel OC'd at 1.3 ghz, and I think sleep is much better! I just downloaded cpuspy, so ill see what that tells me and ill post of up here. Now just to get that 2.6.32 kernel, then ill be set!
Edit: just let it sleep for two hours with wifi on, and here's what cpuspy is reporting:

So it looks like deep sleep still doesn't work, but I'm not surprised since we're still running the .29 kernel.

Last week, I found a hint of overclocking.
Droid Eris Android Development: a thread by zanfur

And at last, I succeeded to do it.
To say the conclusion at first, it works fine around 730MHz while a week.
At 768MHz and more over, it causes hunging up the system frequently.
Over 800MHz? I couldn't in this time. I think it needs VDD control and managing the freq tables more better to do it.
To get resources for overclocking, please refer the second post.
resources
The update for CM6RC2 on Legend: here to download. (build26, zipped)
FIXED: PERFLOCK disabled
Only the 'kernel' module for test other ROMs: here to download. (build26, not archived)
FIXED: PERFLOCK disabled
How to do it for kernel_legend_13be9c9c:
At first, you should read zanfur's post and his patch.
I just modified two tables in acpuclock-arm11.c excluding his having written.
1. modify cpufreq.c to let SetCPU to access freq tables
2. modify acpuclock-arm11.c to let HTC Legend be able to overclocking
3. modify msm7227_defconfig to disable PERFLOCK [optional]
You might not need modify defconfig when you use SetCPU which can purchase in Android Market.
SetCPU can disable PERFLOCK by setting. ([menu] -> [Perflock Disabler])
(acpuclock-arm11.c which I use is here)
FIXED: updated the correct file
Congratulations!
I will test soon
build26
My first kernel (build25) was built with CONFIG_PERFLOCK=y.
SetCPU can disable PERFLOCK.
However, I noticed there were few users of SetCPU now.
So I built it for HTC Legend users who do not have SetCPU.
Thanks,
Thanks to you, Kyosa, you make better this community with your work.

Hi, if i use your CM6 RC2 Rom, is it just to flash this one: The update for CM6RC2 on Legend: here to download. (build26, zipped)
FIXED: PERFLOCK disabled and flash it with Clockworkmod then its done?
Edit, fixed it. I just flashed the One i talkd about and it Works perfect
OMG...940!!!!! I'm still on Eclair Rom with Sense and Quadrant gives me only 378 pts ....so far from your result!
Just a question: does your kernel module work with Eclair too ?
what do i wrong:
i follow all the step's but when i flash the patch my phone doesnt do anything.
it keep showing the HTC logo on a white screen.
if i flash the normal cm66 my phone works great again.

Working fine here with build 66
nobody could run?
ahh... It seems too immature to release.
give me a time to solve the problem on booting up.
I apologize that it is no use.
P.S.
My testing flow is below.
1. flash CM6RC2-build66 (with ClockWorks Recovery)
2. flash this kernel (build26) WITHOUT WIPE (with ClockWorks Recovery)
3. run SetCPU or other overclock tools

To the people who have managed to flash it succesfully, is the cpu overclocked as soon as you boot, or do you have to change it in setCpu?
If so, maybe the problem as to why it works for some people and not others is that some cpu's cannot take the stress of the overclock and others can?

Works right out of the box for me with kyosas cm6.
Question: I am not really interested in overclocking, speed is fine as it is. But will this kernel make it possible to save battery by underclocking? Does the original kernel lower cpu speed e.g. at screen off? Or do I need this kernel and SetCPU profiles to lower cpu frequency?

I agree with you, JFS is a tried and true low-overhead file-system.
i got insanely goot battery w/ EB-Productions Kernel #2.
I wonder what the battery life is like on the A7/A8 kernels. i might have to try them out. (right now running TW kernel though, I love the work of both TW and eugene).
I'll have to compare battery of the TW kernel to the A8 kernel sometime soon.
are a7 and such overclocked like the one included in macnut? would be kinda sorta tight
Works great Eugene, thank you. Just a heads up - the external sd mounts as a protected cd drive and you are unable to copy to and from your computer. I'm using kernel A8.
Thanks for the kernels Eugene!

If you not using Macnut R12 likely will Happen... You have to edit the Vold.fstab to fix it..
Regarding OC / UV..
A7 & A8 is not OC nor UV.. I am however Working on those currently.. Easy enough to do..
would it be possible to add a no-RFS advanced EXT2 option?

I could be wrong but I don't think Eugene plans to add lagfix options to this kernel. The advanced lagfix options are ported from the ULF Galaxy S kernel. But like I said I could be wrong...
One bug I noticed with this kernel is if performing a backup with ROM manager or any time you reboot from recovery, the phone just hangs on Galaxy S splash screen with no activity. It boots right up after a battery pull though.

**PLEASE READ FIRST**
We made this android 2.2.1 kernel compatible with Nero v4 so you can simply flash the .zip right on top of it. However, additional files are included with this install to make this work correctly. Therefore, if you wish to return to Nero v4 with the stock kernel, you must flash Nero v4 again in order to revert. Because this kernel is based off i9000 source, battery drain will increase, there also might be other issues. This kernel is more or less for fun and for those who want to experiment. I'm posting this as a bonus, so please do not report bugs, ESPECIALLY in the Nero 4 thread.
**DISCLAIMER**
No two phones will overclock the same, even if they're identical. Often its several factors that allow some devices to overclock more so then others. Some devices will not accept an overclock at all. Please take the time to acknowledge the risks involved with overclocking your device. Overclocking does cause additional stress to your system and can potentially result in overheating, hardware failure, data loss, lock ups, boot loops, bricking, etc. Team Whiskey does not take any responsibility for damages or data loss casualties caused by overclocking.
DoW 1.4 Ghz 2.2.1 based:
- Android 2.2.1 i9000 kernel source

Notes:
- Could cause increased battery drain
- May require a reboot after flashing to obtain data connection
- Setcpu usage recommended for optimal settings

This one should be A LITTLE more solid, but will still come with poor battery life due to the i9000 source. Nonetheless, its blazing fast.

※This is not a volume booster!
It will increase your volume level counts!
Since I saw some people are complaining about android's volume control is jumping to large amount,
I decided to search for it.
And after spending several days for searching files under framework.jar, I found it.
(Yeah, it would be easy for someone but I'm noob to android and code things )
I changed the media volume level counts to 30. (Android stock is 15)
Since the code is located in framework.jar, it needs several tools to modify.
I'm attaching several rom's framework.jar so you can pick your own.
How to install:
※Make sure you have your rom file in sdcard for in case of bootloop.
1. Download the file that matching with your rom.
2. Change the name of downloaded file to framework.jar
2. Replace the framework.jar located in /system/framework/ with downloaded file.
(You can use root explorer or adb pushing or making your own cwm script)
3. Set the permission to rw-r--r-- or like this:

Might consider integrating this into the ROM if it's OK by you.
Thanks!

Any rom dev are welcomed to use this.
And I'll post how to make this later.
(It is quite easy, but was hard to find...)

Well thank you again for finding this. Very, very useful mod.
This is nice. Just recently I was mad at the fact that one volume seemed too high, and when I would turn it down one notch it was too low! This should help I would think?
I know this isn't what this mod does, but since you mention it in the first post, does anyone know if it's POSSIBLE to increase the max volume on this phone? I find it to be very quiet... not sure if it's my ears, but other phones/devices have seemed fine using the same headphones across the board.

Quiet? I found the volume to be quite load and crisp. One of the best sound quality I have ever experienced on a phone and this mod makes it better!
So folks, its a little bit too late, i know, but i made a flashable zip of stock kernel from the China FW. It contains all the necessary modules, etc.. It contains all the necessary files that the tab falls to sleep after l2_hsic going crazy. This solve the unnecessarily high battery drain since Android 4.0.4 aka ICS was published by samsung. Is intended for those who have no desire to a custom kernel.
But notice this kernel is not overclockable, should work with any firmware and this requires root to flash the kernel.
PS: But this kernel is only for the 3G versions (GT-P7500/7501), why only the 3G models are equipped with the high battery drain.
What do I need?
- The kernel
- Root ->look here
-> Do you have ICS on it, point ranges 2 and 3
-> You still have Honeycomb on it, start from step 1
- a custom recovery -> for example here
- wherewithal basic knowledge -> Look at the forum or ask at Aunt Google.

How do i flash the kernel?
- download the kernel and flash it through your custom recovery
- Of course only interesting if you are already using TWRP or CMW.

Flash through CWM / TWRP
You place the zip on the internal memory or external SD card.
- To boot into recovery, hold volume down when you restart
- Go to "install zip from sd card", depending on the type of recovery (CWM)
-> Or just install (in TWRP)
- look for the folder where you have placed the zip
- And flashes this now by clicking on yes in CMW or slide to the right with TWRP.
- Then reboot and kernel you got it.

This kernel is to be used only with ICS!!

Before you flash this stuff, made a backup (Nandroid) of your system. Only if something goes wrong, this make sure you can restore your old system again. I 've tested it, but you never know.

Samsung, for there bugfree chinese kernel
and "stiffmeister", for found out which kernel is not effected by l2_hsic bug
PPS: I testet it with the Hungary FW without this kernel. After 1 hour the bug came back.:silly: So i flashed this kernel again and it works like charme. So it should work with any other FW.
Hey thanks man. So now we finally have the fix for ICS and JB ROMs.

Ok was on cm10.1 moved back to stock, installed custom recovery and this kernel and still seem too have the occasional flash which was the reason I decided to move back to stock. Any ideas?

Maybe try a different bootloader.
As far as I am aware I have never updated the boot loader. Any ideas Where I would get the stock ics boot loader

From here. Choose your device folder and flash the tar via Odin with pda on your pc. If you are having a wifi device, the zip must be extracted before you flash it via odin. But i think you have a 3G device. Otherwise you dont be here in this thread.
Wow i forgot how much long the galaxy tab could hold on. I was on A1 and Yoda's kernel and was kinda used of charging my tablet every 2-3 days. But man, im glad i flashed stock, this is so smooth no need to overclock and it lasts way longer on my device. I doubled my battery life and it stays on for days almost weeks with daily use. Sad to say to developpers but stock is really amazing on ICS.
I really recommend giving stock kernel a second chance. Im blown away, thanks for posting this!

You do know that the wakelock issue is already fixed right? Now in almost every JB ROM(except for those no longer updates ones) no more l2_hsic wakelock. For ICS custom ROMs, use A1 kernel.

I appreciate the effort ,just installed it this afternoon and I can see the effect perfectly, all deep sleep, not one minute at 200mhz. All of it without too much hassle. Thanks to you!
We're lucky android is so open and has a great community, depending on Samsung alone is not recommended.
Thank you
Thank you also from me. Works percfectly!
