Using 6.1 theme on WM 6.5.3? - Windows Mobile Themes

I notice that if I apply an older WM 6.1 to my 6.5.3 device, I get the old style popup/context menus where all the options appear on one screen, rather than the newer, larger, more "finger friendly" menus which require scrolling up and down to see all options. I like the old-style ones better.
Unfortunately applying an older theme also seems to have the side effect of messing up some of the icons on the bottom menu bar so that they either don't display at all, or display incorrectly. Is there any way to cause ONLY this old-style menu change to occur, without messing anything else up? Either through a registry edit or some other way? Alternatively, is there a way to fix the bottom menu bar on 6.5.3 when a 6.1 theme is applied?
I haven't done any theme editing before so if anyone could provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

What type of theme have you applied? For what UI?

Just the regular Windows Mobile UI. By default my device has the "Classic Blue" theme selected out of the box, which works fine. As a test I installed Windows Mobile 6.1 Green Theme found here:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-windows-mobile-6-1-theme.html
It mostly does what I want with the menus, but for example in the email/POutlook app (among others) in the bottom menu bar the OK/X button is okay, but the icon/button for "Menu" is completely missing. There is no icon, nor any word in its place. It is just blank, yet tapping on it still does bring up the menu as desired. This is what I am not usre how to fix. Alternatively, I'd be happy with just changing these menus back to the old compact 6.1 style without affecting anything else, but right now applying an old-style theme is the only way I know of accomplishing this.

there are a lot of themes, better to find at least a 6.5 of your taste.
make a search here on xda or look here

The thing is, I'm not really too concerned with the appearance part of things, so the look of a theme doesn't matter that much to me. What I am mainly trying to accomplish is getting the old smaller, compacted system/context menus that we used to have on 6.1.
For example when you're in email (Pocket Outlook) viewing your list of messages, and you want to check for new mail, you hit the "menu" button and then select "Send/Receive". It's that menu I'm talking about. On the old OS version you could see all items on the screen at once, but with the new finger friendly 6.5, you have to scroll up and down to get to various items, such as Send/Receive.
That's the only thing I'm trying to change: getting those old menus back. And currently applying a 6.1 theme is the only way I know of doing so, but it also messes up the bottom menu bar under 6.5.3. So I'm hoping to either find another, easier way of restoring those old menus, or finding a fixed/tweaked 6.1 theme that doesn't mess up the menu bar on 6.5.3.

To set it as a photo or image from your device, open the "image and video viewer", navigate to the image and then click "menu" -> "set as today background"
Clear this up
When you open the "programs" or "settings" page, the background is white. It is this way on every ROM I have used. I have never seen a ROM that has uses the "Today" (the theme used throughout the cook rom) theme on the programs or settings pages or any low level pages (accessories, tools, etc.). Look at any cooked ROMs pictures and you will see "white" backgrounds on the programs and settings pages. That is what I am talking about changing.
Anyone now how to make it use the same theme as the rest of the phone?
Different Theme
Try a different theme, I know that I had an old theme that changed the background of the programs screen and most other applications to gray. Poke around on the xda site, there are some great themes. Hope that helps you,
Dave

How to get rid of white background in new TF3D screens??

I'm running a Fuze with EnergyROM 1.5 with the new TF3D port. The pretty much last thing that bugs me is that there are still some areas that have white backgrounds rather than the new elegant black backgrounds found in most of the new TF3D port.
Here they are:
1. Call History (launched from Call History softkey just below clock).
2. Contacts (not People, but Contacts launched from remapped left softkey).
3. All Programs.
4. All Settings.
5. Stock details.
6. Subscreens from Settings tab.
7. Inbox of email.
I searched extensively and couldn't find anything that would seem to work here.
That might cover it. Thanks for the assist.
Modify your title-it's misleading.
I'd be happy to. Can you clarify how it should be changed to make it more clear?
Thanks.

Problem with WM 6.5 Menus

I am running WM 6.5, build 23008 on custom rom. It's great, but there is one big problem. I don't get the WM 6.5 style finger friendly popup menus anymore. I am getting the old classic style plain and small 6.1 menus. Is there a way to change this? I assume it's in a registry setting, but when I made a change to the registry, the old style menu just got bigger.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The menus are set by the theme, so I suppose you're just using an older theme that didn't contain the new menu settings. I am using a 6.1 theme on WM6.5 myself and I'm getting the old-style menus (I prefer to have them smaller), so I guess changing to a WM6.5 theme should do the trick.

Sense 2.5 problem - help!

I just installed the latest htc rom with sense 2.5 and on top Cookie's hometab. The whole new interface looks nice but i have couple issues to be solved:
1) can i make the windows hardbutton pointing to "my programs" as in previous roms, and not to windows' honeycomb programs? Maybe through a registry value?
2) ...ofcourse, i need to find where "my programs" are with sense 2.5, cause i don't see them . There isn't even a quick tab for them.
3) I have seen long ago someone having 4 columns aligned in straight rows, instead of windows' honeycomb style. Is there any link for it or is it only for windows titanium interface?
these for now, i hope nothing else pops up!

You can check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821. Basically it will map any of your keys to any program.
I am not sure if you can have a shortcut directly to your programs in Windows, but as an alternative, you could also use a small program called Second Today and put all of your favourite shortcuts there using Elecont Launcher for example. With this, you can have as many columns as you like.

Help with Theme

im using the windows 7 theme for iphone today on windows 6.5 tp2 how can i remove the bottom soft key bar when using as today and how can i get rid of the start menu icon on the task bar to make it look more like windows 7. thanks
very poorly titled question.
This isnt really a theme problem but a question of modifying the actual winmo interface.
Somewhere on here there is actually a cab for just what you are looking for.
Try searching for "remove start" "remove taskbar" from the level above windows mobile themes and similar and you should get it
