Since I just learned how to make these today, I figured the first thing I'd do is the hypnotoad from Futurama. It's simple, but it's fun!
Use a file explorer that allows for read/write permissions in the system, and drop this file into the system/media folder.
tried loading it threw CWM and i get installation aborted... any tips?

HA! This is great. It does totally beg for the hypnotoad sound (or more accurately noise).

Not sure if I'll keep it, but its nice to see someone doing bootanis. Since qbking showed us all how to push something, I've been going to the evo threads and borrowing all the bootani.zips I like....I'll go slap this on right quick.....thanks.
Edit; its cool, now if you added a spinny type hypno background it would be fully wack. Good job

Make sure whatever file explorer your using has root privileges so it can mount the system as writable or else it will do nothing and you'll just have the android logo.
File expert w/ root. And mounted media as read/write the bootanimation.zips all copied over but even flashing a know working bootanimation in cwm (used it before and it worked) won't fix android logo seems 2 be new default

What? If you follow the instructions provided in the OP you should have no issues. If you can tell me what steps you took trying to install this I may be able to help.
I installed this on my zoom but it looks hella pixelated when I looked at it. OP, are you using a custom Kernel or a stock kernel? Does that even matter in this case?
I am using tiamat kernel however, I don't think that should be an issue. Image is clear on my xoom. Maybe redownload? I don't know why that would be happening.
Anyone else having grainy/pixelated images?

so god damn cool good job, you know the animation when they present the title of every transformers, if you could do that with the word xoom and the end of the original gearz bootanimation it might very well be the most sickest thing I've ever laid eyes upon
=-O excellent job. Majority of the animation is slick and smooth. My one small critque would be the word xoom at the end. To me it just seems out of place with the rest of it. Maybe a more futuristic looking font with a darker color to it to match with the gears and blades spinning about. Or like MitchTruck suggested and animate it someway. Otherwise supurb job.

Here are a bunch of animations that I found. I made flashables. I will make sure that these are updated once we update EVERY build. These animations will work on any phone running the latest MiUi build. Have fun and enjoy. If you happen to stumble upon a animation no in the op, please feel free to post a link to it and as soon as i can get a chance i will make it..
.....::: Cheers :::.....
Please make sure to re boot twice and let sit for a little to allow the lagg to go away
Previews will be coming soon. I need to make them. =)
I Take Absolutely No Responsibility For Damaged or Broken Phones! Make a Back Up Before Flashing Any of These!
Bounce Animation (clickme)
Fly In and Flip Animation (clickme)
Twisted Animations (clickme)
Stock Android Animations (clickme)
For those having problem's with their phones not taking the flashables i made
First download the animation you want above.
next your going to want to pull your framework apk from the current rom your using by navigating to system>framework>framekwork.apk, place it on the pc your going to use.
rename the framework.apk to .zip and open with what ever program you use to view zips
Now that you have your stock apk renamed and opend in your zip program navigate to the res>anim folder thats going to be the folder we are going to drop the modifeied xmls in the animation zip you already downloaded
now navigat to animation.zip file you downloaded and also open in your zip program
open the anim folder
copy all of those modified xmls and paste them in your stock anim folder that we left open replace anything it asks you too
now you can close out the custom anmation we wont need it any more
now close out the stock zip as well
navigate to the stock file we just moded and rename it from .zip to .apk
and your done
push the frame work apk to the folder you took it out from and enjoy

To install put the bootanimation.zip in data/local & the next time you reboot it should appear.
Holy s**t that cm7 busting out of the nook logo is just awesome! I only ran it once and then rushed back here to comment. I found it on the thread started by whoever requested it in the first place but happened upon this post before i could navigate to the original thread.
Too goddamn cool, really! I only tried it because i thought it was so weak that the guy begged for it over a couple months time, and then ducked out without really thanking you or giving you any feedback.
I have had the animation disabled for forever, it is not something i ever cared about, but that is just great. It was a little choppy, but i have just loaded it the one time. Too cool, man. I'm gonna go watch it again...
Edit: i just saw you didn't put a link to your own work in the post! Let me help everyone out here:

Let me be clear. This is bcvictory's work! He is just shy.
Thanks! This is great. I had to figure out where to place the bootanimation.zip and I can't remember right now. I'll update if nobody beats me on the procedure for changing the boot animation.
EDIT: Using Root Browser (app you use is your choice of course). I put the bootanimation.zip in /system/media/
Make sure to backup or rename to bootanimation.bak the original file in case you want to go back to the original bootanimation.

Sorry, I have been busy since posting the OP I'll update it soon..
If you put the new animation zip in data/local instead of system/media it works as well and you don't have to worry about renaming or losing the original animation.
Files put in data/local simply preempt the stock system files. It is there for the express purpose of customization. Just drop it in and reboot. The ROM does the rest. If you want to return to the original just delete it, and it automatically reverts to the original.
I put it both places first and that's just the one I removed first so I figured it wasn't necessary. Your way is definitely better.

The link for this awesome sounding boot animation is dead. If anyone has it and could point me in the right direction of where to get it, I would be most appreciative.
Thanks, Rick
It is. It is awesome.
I have it on a nandroid, I'm pretty sure.
This is a test bump, though. I don't want to restore a bunch of backups to find it for you if you aren't still looking or if someone else has it anywhere more readily available.
Anyone?

Thanks leap. I should have known somebody'd gone ahead and ended that inconvenience.
Jeez, having that on device has endless advantages, if you think about it. Very cool.
And a cm9 version would be very welcome. I haven't ever cared about animations before or since, but this was cool.
Edit: and...it won't save any files to my sdcard. Unknown reason. The amount of time I spent on this I should have just restored the backup. It also won't successfully email an attachment it upload to the cloud, before you ask.
If bcvictory can't find it, I will restore and post it tomorrow. Not really interested in fixing or learning the app at this moment.
Sorry, I couldn't find it. Hopefully I will get around to the CM9 version soon.

It is because the bootanimation.zip is not an ordinary zip. You need to include it in another zip or rar. I use rar to avoid confusion with install zips when I do attachments.

You didn't need a root, just put it to
Code:

and that's all...
You can use ADB
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
looks great! i'll try it!
Really nice, thanks.
Nice, thanks!
very good.Thanks
Since LG won't release ICS, why not skip ahead a bit and start adding Jelly Bean stuff to GB. Attached are some of the things you can use right away. You must have root.
If you don't follow these instructions properly, it's not my fault if you screw something up. Best to make a nandroid backup before you proceed, mmkay?
Boot animation:
Copy to /system/media, permissions 0644. Might look a little weird since it's 640x640, but you can't have everything on the first day JB's released
Play Store:
Install, done. Or, copy to /system/app, permissions 0644.
It's for US, so not all of the changes will be here. Most notably, you can't buy movies out of US yet (the option will not be there).
Fonts:
Extract the fonts, copy to /system/fonts, permissions 0644, rename to DroidSans.ttf (rename the original to DroidSans.ttf.bak or something) or symlink it to DroidSans.ttf. Do the same for the bold and italic fonts.
Added both Roboto and RobotoCondensed, as well as some more. You can only use Roboto or RobotoCondensed at any one time, you can't have your cake and eat it too
Wallpapers:
Extract them, paste them somewhere, open in gallery, set as wallpaper.
Now, doublecheck your permissions. Failure to set permissions correctly may result in bootloops.
After all that, reboot to enjoy.
PS. All of the zips are not flashable zips, don't even try flashing them.
