SoD (Sleep of Death) caused by SetCPU - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im on my rom 2.3.3 rom based on XWJVB and i want to up battery life by scaling CPU on 800 Mhz on charging and 200 Mhz on screen of... but why always have SoD if i scale it into that value?

Hi, for my experience and what I've read, SetCPU isn't working on our Galaxy S. The phone already gets lower CPU values when idle. Try to find some topics on the subjects, maybe with some specific values it may be working.

Battery JVK Android OS

Hi,
I have detected the reason why the battery at JVK is always so quickly. The Android OS syndrome.
It is the CPU running at 1000Mhz permanently. Even if the phone is in standby. Otherwise, switch the MHz number in stand down even more. What can you do?
Cpu doesnt always be on 1ghz.You can see in what frequency the phone is using setcpu.
The CPU is not running at 1000MHz constantly. And if you are afraid that it is, do the following:
1. Download SetCPU from the Market.
2. Enable profiles, and set following profiles:
- Charging: min 1000, max 1000;
- Screen Off: min 100, max 200;
- Normal: min 100, max 1000.
This will also increase your battery life!

[Q] Best Governor for Setcpu?

Hey guys. Just wondering which governor works the best for you guys. Want to find the perfect compromise between battery life and no lag while scrolling.
i find that snartassv2 works best for me
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Lagfree using Abyss 2.6 does what it says, very smooth desktop scrolling in ADW EX, even at stock 1.4GHz.
Battery life seems ok, and heat is about the same as On Demand.
For SetCPU
- Use Ondemand, that will give performance when CPU need it
and In profile add power saver (200 min 500 max), when screen off. if compromise any SW then max 800
What is the necessity to set this profile if the phone goes into deep sleep? Many times we don't need apps working in the background...
For instance I disabled all the background activities of apps requesting data (autosync...) and I am always in deep sleep with screen off...
My 2 cents.
Cheers.
I see guys. Been bouncing back and forth between intellidemand, smartass v2 and lagfree. Lagfree seems to consume more batteries though

Sorry to bring this thread back to life but I was wondering what everyone thought the optimal settings for CPU speeds would be.
Galaxy Note GT-7000
CheckROM
Abyss Kernel
On Demand governer
I have them set right now for min 200 and max 1500. I had the set at min 50 and max 1600 but the min 50 made the phone a little laggy.
Another question, what should I set the temp profile to temp wise?
Thanks in advance
right now im running ondemand....min 200 max 1664
abyss kerenl... stock rom....
seems fine to me....

Best Settings for SetCPU?

On a Samsung Galaxy S with MIUI Stable 2.11.26.
What are the best settings, profiles, ect. for saving battery? Also please label the specifics like max/min, scaling, and your advanced settings.
Thank you...
For Saving Battery keep both max and min at 800000 and scaling should be on conservative....
Worked for me
..
I'm on Onecosmic's ICS Port RC3 with Platypus Kernel. It runs fine at 1460 Mhz and CPU Spy tells me 38% 1460 Mhz, 42% 800 Mhz and 18% Deep Sleep. Temperature is between 33 and 38°C. Battery life is just fine, one day, sometimes two (depends on usage surely).
My question is:
46% overclocking seems to be much for me, but as temperature stays fine, do you think i risk a sooner death of my cpu? would you change to 1.3 or 1.2 GHz?
If the CPU temperature is fine then therez no need to take any tension.. ur cpu will work fine..

Seems like a charge of death. Try changing kernel. What kernel are you currently running?
Cm9 kernel. I only use miui and roms from teamhacksung . But I just saw that both if them are getting new kernels.
Charge death has happened to me on all ICS roms.
What worked for me was to create a profile to set minCPU to at least 200MHz while charging (mine is 240MHz since I have it OC to 1200MHz).
AND, just in case you have this too, to prevent sleep death I also set the min to 240MHz when battery it higher than 75% (or you can used Captivate Keep Alive)
Thanks I'll try that.
Setting the min CPU to 200MHz, and upping the voltage of the 200MHz step to 1025 mV seemed to help for me. I was getting the deaths at lower voltages.
OMG. 1025mV for 200. You can also check my ROM OP for voltage settings.
And how old is your battery? May be its worth going thru full discharge/recharge cycle.

[Q] Auto CPU Performance Degredation

Hi All, Masters, and Guru's of the Note (N7000)
I am wondering if anyone else has suffered a similar situation with their SGN (N7000) wherein you set your processor to its Max Clock Speed (1,400 Ghz) then after a few minutes, it automatically clocks down to 800 Mhz. Which for some reason results in Lag for the applications that i use.
ie, Feedly suddenly loads slowly, and when i game with Deadzone it turns my character into a sitting duck (despite having a good network connection)
It does this with even with Antutu's CPU Master or Overclock widget manually setting the CPU clock to its max value. (even with the performance governor set) It still downclocks to 800 Mhz.
Oh, am using Jelly Bean German Firmware and Philz Kernel. Though, i hear from some buddies using the same model note but unrooted that they experience the same thing too.
Oh If i have missed any thread on this forum addressing this issue, please direct me there.
Thanks!
Make sure you change the minimum value to. By default that is set to 200Mhz.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I made sure to max out all values. so minimum is also set to 1400. however, it still jumps down to 800 after sometime even if i am on full battery or plugged in.
