No Android Market on my S710D - HTC Incredible S

I just changed my phone from WM to Android. The new one is HTC S710D in China. It seems CDMA version of Incredible S. But I cannot find google market on my phone. HTC support told me android market was not officially shipped with new android phone in China. But you know, many apps are easily available from the market. Please advise how I can get google Android Market installed on my phone.
Before I post here, I have searched the forum and CM website. I cannot find a trusted method to do that. I am not clear whether I have to unlock or root or S-ON etc. Please help. Thanks.

Here you can install the market with this apk assuming that the phone is rooted. Then all you would need to do is go to my files and browse to the apk and select it and choose to install.

A plain install wont do ... U gotta copy it to /system/app ...

Actually I had no problems when I installed this myself, and others have used it as well and had no problems. I would suggest that if the plain install doesn't work then to do what knightrocker said.

Whether need google account -- gtalk , gmail , etc-- ?
complex!!
maybe installation all google service need ROOT.
but now, can't hack it.

You need to
1. Root your Phone.
2 Flash recovery (Cwm or any other)
3. Download Gaapps
4. Copy to sd card & flash thru recovery.

Droid early version

how can i root this droid. it's an early edition of the droid it even says "confidential motorola restricted property: not for sale" and where the meid is located it says
"motorola
engineering use only
not for resale
cdma sholes hw p2p"
I've tried to root the phone but it didn't work.
Not sure if this will work for yours but have you tried the rooting instructions for 2.1 android
There's a section for tutorial in this forum for it. The first part of the flashing process which uses rsd lite to install the Droid 2.0.1 sbf file actually erases the current version of android installed with all other info except for the sdcard and installs the 2.0.1 version from a blank phone. And from that point you can root to what ever you want but like I said I don't know if its possible with you device and not sure if will harm it but it maybe worth a shot. Also yours is an engineering version of the device so it may already be rooted or other ways to flash Roms that aren't known of. You might be able to search the Motorola site for developer software or something like that because HTC has a section of their site for their developers to download stuff for them to use so Motorola might have a similar site. Both are worth a shot if possible. Good luck.

Wait... check first before you flash anything to see if the Bootloader is locked. Hit me up on Gmail.

This could help...

I was thinking it might not be locked also
Your right, didn't think about that. If it were unlocked you could root easily.

Well thanks for the help but I wasn't able to root with the 2.0 tutorial or with 2.1 tutorial

Try this its a link to root a Droid with a voles signed file and a tutorial to tell you how. I'm not sure your version of test-keys but by doing a little creative searching I think you should find something. I just typed root Motorola voles and the link I gave you came up. There should be more if this don't help.

I should say what I posted last is also a link to root an early edition Droid from last year.

I also found this. Its a Google site where some one has similar problem with your version of firm ware. It tells the person some how he ended up with an test build or engineering version of android and says Giro Verizon to have them reflash a consumer version of android. It also in howardforums
Your model is called voles because it is the name Google used for Motorola Droid. So damn yours must be a dinosaur. Lol. That being said though you Havering an engineering version of Droid from Google can't be impossible to do anything with but there also might not be any current rooting roms. Or anything anyone else would have to help you. Your probably going to have to search for some developer firmware or software you can use to work with the phone. Its not I'm possible to find but wont be easy. Sorry for bad news. Good luck.

Is you Bootloader unlocked? That was my main question... if so - that could really help some devs out. Hold down your Up arrow of your keyboard down while booting up.
Email me if unlocked please...
Looks like you've got a very interesting handset there. Take good care of it, 'cause you could unleash a whole world of things (how the "real" Droid made it's debut).
Maybe poke around with ADB and then find out the CPU and such? It could be a early version with a 700Mhz CPU, for example. As for the android installation, it looks like it's using Android 1.5 or even 1.6...
BTW, how'd you get it? eBay?
I bought it in a flea market for 100 bucks

So have you contacted AdamZ or checked if the bootloader is unlocked? Before you flash anything it would be REALLY helpful to know if it is...as people have said it could really help out the developers. Seems we've had other engineering samples floating around but people flashed them to stock...locking the bootloader.

[Q] root question

I recently lost my htc hero and have just received a new one from insurance and it is updated to the 2.32.651.2 software. I have been searching around, but have not been able to find any way to root this. If anyone could help it would be great, thanks

You might have to downgrade your software through HTC's RUU. I don't have the file but someone will post it eventually.
Sent from my HERO200 using Tapatalk
1. Goto XDA Hero CDMA forums (which, I guess, you know how to...)
2. Click on "Search this forum"
3. Enter "2.32.651.2"
4. Hit Enter
5. Enjoy!
Don't tell me that you did not find posts for rooting this update, I just ran a search and found atleast 3...

Did it yesterday and it works! If you just want to root, go ahead with z4root. If you experience lag after rooting, just reboot and your good to go if you dont plan on flashing any roms. Link to z4root in post.

Help with G1

I was going to help my friend root his G1 and install the CyanogenMod 6.1 on it.I noticed on his G1 it said android 1.6.I was hoping someone could point me in the right directions to a link for rooting and installing the rom.So if you can link me to the newest rooting method and a link to install Cyanogen it will be appreciated.
Thanks,
eastwood
The downgrade to cupcake/one click root works for most G1 phones, but check the build in About Phone. If it's DMD64, you will probably need to create a a Gold Card (reference: the Unlockr). If you want to save time abduction hassle, check out the Gold Card Helper app in the Market. You will still need to follow the Unlockr's steps. Hang on, i'll find you some links...
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Ya, if you get the Goldcard Helper app (note that Goldcard is actually one word), you can effectively skip steps 1 to 8 in this method:
[Can't post links yet. Just google "unlockr how to create gold card"]
And no need for ADB! You will still need a PC to use that Hex editor. Are you using a mac?
After you get a goldcard, doing the normal dowgrade to 1.5 and one click root works pretty good, and there are many guides to doing that around here and on other forums.

Thanks for the help. After i get settled in from work im going to begin studying on how to create the goldcard you mentioned.
Thanks for the help,

[Q] Incredible S OTA update today

I just received an OTA for my Incredible S and I can't see anything about it online: version number 2.30.707.1 and it was about 30MB.
I didn't find any obvious change so far. And the description was something very vague about "update of applications".
Any one knows what this update was about?
Please be sense 3!
No obvious changes meant Android version is still 2.3.3 and Sense still 2.1
Sorry.
Ooh I misread your op..
I thought you said 300mb and didn't realize you already installed it.
Desire s gets sense 3 and we get shafted
Nothing here in the UK, I'm still on 2.30.405.1
Today Desire S in GB got 2.3.5 and sense 3.0
INCS should be next IMHO
That really would make this device one of the best...
Hope to get an updated gb and sense soon.

nothing here in Estonia yet, i wonder if i'll ever get that
If they give desire s sense 3 and not us I'll definitely never buy another HTC phone

If you have ClockworkMod installed, the OTA will fail. You need to flash the HTC stock recovery back in order for the OTA to run and update successfully.
I'm from Australia, and keep checking every half an hour for updates. nothing yet.
Updated Mine and NO SENSE 3.0!
Disappointed with how slow HTC is dealing with updates!!!!!!! Super SLOW!
No way man...
I'd rather a Sensation over a S2 any day...
HTc sense is by far superior to Touch Wiz in my opinion and I have had phones with both so I know what i'm saying.

may i know how to do it
Edit
did it, thanks
Lots of guides in the development section. U need to download the stock HTC ROM, again found in development section, connect ur phone to ur computer via usb and put the downloaded ROM zip file onto ur sd card, then boot into recovery and flash the stock ROM on ur sd card following the on screen instructions. 4ext recovery is best to use. Format and wipe first. This will however put ur phone back to s-on. Or you could just wait for one of the many good developers here to cook a new ROM based on the latest release, undoubtedly better. All the guides take u through it step-by-step though.
Good luck

I just applied the 4.3 update to my T-Mobile HTC One and those apps were included. In addition, my phone still has an unlocked bootloader. I was pretty irritated that they put apps on the /data partition. It is likely they were put there again, but I don't need to unlock the bootloader again.
