Does anyone know why Google Maps keeps running on the background or if its consuming a lot of power? It keeps setting off Watchdog..

Mine often runs in background draining moderate amounts of extra battery...annoying. wish I knew why too, but can confirm the drain is substantial. Killing process works fine though, it doesn't come back on again til relaunched for me

I've tried killing it but it keeps restarting.

I use Autostarts to prevent Maps & other apps from automatically starting, it's well worth $1
what about using atk or es task mgr? and putting maps in the auto-kill list

Has anyone had a problem with the xda app force closing regularly? It only happens when I open it up shortly after closing it.....running cm6

cant say i have had that problem. have your tried uninstalling and installing it again?
Happens to me all the time. If I click home on my phone then reopen XDA it will attempt to connect for a long time, I usually click the back button to stop this, sometimes depending where I am in the app it will force close me. Open again and its fine
also cm6
I've had that with the updated xda app so I just use the older version
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
I get it sometimes. I just figured after idling it loses connection to xda server and force closes.

I have noticed at home if I leave XDA open in my browser and come back to it, say 1 hour later, it has logged me out. Not a big deal, I just wish the cookie lasted longer.

I just got my Hero a few days ago. It is running aospMOD 0.9.5, overclocked with SetCPU and using LauncherPro (pretty sure I'll buy LPP!) so the following may be of limited value: The XDA app is the only thing to force-close on me so far, and it has happened 2 or 3 times at least.
Yeah, it happens every time I open it....then its fine....
I bought LPP too because I like the Widgets

Just part of android. Also, task killers won't help, unless you set them to auto kill ever 5 seconds, in which case your battery life will suffer. My opinion, get rid of task killer. Then you won't see how many things are running in the background. If the system needs more memory, it will kill thebackground stuff untilit has what it needs.

Just wanted to ask if this phone has a task killer built in or do I have to download one from market? I came from the gs2 where when u pressed the home button it gave u an option to kill certain tasks while leaving others open. All info is greatly appreciated thanks.*** Also on a side note is anyone using setcpu to lower the cpu or is it best to run it stock?

If you double tap home it will bring up your recent apps. You can swipe them away, but task managers are not really needed.

Thanks a lot lol I would've never guessed that. Appreciate the help .

I restored the built in task killer from titanium backup from the evo lte

As usual, the best recommendation for task killers is: DO NOT use one.
Task killers almost always cause more battery usage and slower performance, just because they force your phone to reload an app every single time you open it. Some people seem to believe that just because an app is in RAM, it's using battery, and that's outright false. It's suspended in RAM, doing absolutely nothing, waiting for you to use it again.
The only apps that actually run in the background are apps that have services (Facebook, Spotify, etc), apps that do things in the background. Killing these tasks isn't even a good idea, as Android will attempt to restart killed services.

Here is a blog post written by a member of the Android team explaining how multi-tasking works on Android and why task killers actually hurt performance and battery life. Don't use them. They're counter productive.
There is an app in the play store called Grennify. It's kinda like a task killer. The short of it is that you select apps to be Greenfied. The selected apps don't run in the background while your phone is in sleep mode. I've been using this app since I had my S3 and IMO, is a must have app for root users.

Is there any battery tracking /wakelock detector apps that don't require root?
I need to find out why my Android System has been killing my battery every single day. So frustrating

Im not sure about a wake detector app without root. But you could check out Gsam battery monitor for battery monitoring or even watchdog task manager for rogue apps. The latter is old and hasn't been updated in while, but it still works.
The gsam does show me the Android System is whats killing it but it only shows a list of apps inlcuded in there. So i m unable to see which one specifically thats killing my battery

Have you tried using Greenify to hibernate most downloaded apps? Tends to help alot with random wakelocks/battery life. You could also give cpu spy a try to see which apps are doing what.
Will try. Thanks

Is there any way thru system/app to edit the s6 to stop closing apps automatically? When i play a game and go to check my notifications even for a few seconds the phone automatically closes the app and it restart. Anyone knows how to stop that from happening??
This is the problem with the S6 memory management system. It's extremely aggressive and tends to close apps when they go into the background. There is a thread dedicated to trying to improve memory management on this thing, but things look pretty bleak.
