[Q] What does this mean? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I go into recovery on my Nexus One all I get is a white triangle with an exclamation in the middle and an Android. It does nothing after that. Is there something I need to do?

"what does this mean"
It means you're in the stock recovery.

On that screen press Power & Volume + together to access the stock recovery options.

Can you get to recovery? If so flash the rom over again. Then flash the theme again. Make sure the theme number match the rom number.
its not allowing me to start up its stock where the cyanogen x comes across the screen, not allowing me to get in recovery,

Power the phone off...hold down the track ball and the power button. Does that get you into the bootloader?
I do this for my nexus one when I lock it up. Hold the volume down key down and press the power button. You will see the bootloader screen. Press volume down once to recovery option. Then press power botton. This will take you to recovery screen

When the volume keys to select the option "reboot system now" and press the power button nothing happens. Nothing happens even when I press the home button, which I did not ever worked. When I hold power button for 10 seconds the cell phone turned off, and when I hold a few seconds, the mobile restart and back into recovery mode.

if u guys just like to get the phone back to work, it would be the best to just flash a new ROM via ODIN. After that, the phone boots normally.
But I dont know if this is an option!
Hope u are still able to get the phone to downloadmode via 3-Button-Combo?!

Home button isn't working -> no 3 button combo
try using a jig to get it in download mode and flash a stock rom
In recovery mode, you also can boot system with power-button.

Red exclamation mark when going to recovery

Hi there,
I recently flashed KitKat to my one used the pre-rooted RUU.
(I am S-OFF with SuperCID)
After that I tried to get into recovery, just to see if its working.
But when I click on RECOVERY with the power button after some seconds a red exclamation mark shows up (see attachment).
So I tried to extract the recovery.img from the firmware.zip file, linked in the RUU-Thread.
I flashed this recovery.img with: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
But this changed anything.
So I tried the a stock recovery from this thread which changed the situation to an other red exclamation mark.
What does the red exclamation mark mean and how can I get rid of it?
Thank you!

This is the stock recovery, you need to press vol + and power I think to enter menu
Hold your volume down and power keys until the bootloader starts up.
Using the volume keys, navigate down to RECOVERY and press power.
Wait until the icon has stopped spinning and you see the android with the red exclamation mark above it.
First hold volume up, then (with volume up held down) press power to enter the main recovery menu.

VZW DE - fastboot flashed stock recovery, now red triangle

VZW DE 4.4
Unlocked
TWRP
Rooted
Used fastboot to flash recovery.img from the official Moto file MOTXT1060DEV_4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_1FF-CID2.xml
When I tell the phone to boot into recovery I get the android guy on his side with the red triangle. I can still hold the power button to reboot into the phone and it works fine. However any time I try to go into recovery it's back to the red triangle. I have tried wiping cache via adb as well.
I searched google and the forums and am still stuck.
I believe with stock recovery you have to press power + volume up for a moment, then release them simultaneously and it bypasses the red triangle.
Been a while since I have owned a non-Nexus... not sure if that is a Nexus-only thing.

i didn't stay on stock recovery for long, but I dont remember that.
In either case while looking at the android guy on his side with the red triangle neither power+dwn or power+up do anything. If I hold it too long eventually the phone restarts.
/edit
Ah ha! You are a genius. Power + both volume buttons worked (or I have fat fingers)!
Since I *assumed* something was jacked up I didn't search for "how to enter recovery when everything is working right" my bad
thanks!!!!!!!

You enter bootloader mode by pressing Volume Down + Power, holding for about 3 seconds and then releasing.
Then you boot into recovery by pressing Volume Down to highlight Recovery and then Volume Up to select Recovery.

Yep. It was being in stock recovery and seeing the sideways android with the red triangle that was confusing me. I didn't realize another key combination was required to get past that.

I think that's Google saying: if you're here, it'd better damn well be deliberately!

Ah, yes, you do need to do more to get into stock recovery. I didn't realize it myself since I have mostly been using my Dev Ed in custom recovery.

Hold power and vol down until it turns on and once it gets to the lg logo, release the buttons and press and hold them again until it gets to the factory reset screen. Hit the power button three times and it will boot into your recovery
Sent from my Vs980 Running LiquidSmooth
Thanks fellas!
The phone has to be powered OFF for the stated and linked methods to work for recovery access.
To power the phone off (if, say, you're stuck in a bootloop),
Press and hold the power and Vol- buttons for 10 seconds do not release, hold for an additional 3-5 seconds. The LG logo will flash briefly. When the screen is black, let go of all buttons. Now the phone is off, you may process to use the previously stated commands to enter recovery.
Hold volume down + power until the LG logo appears....once it appears release the power button and repress it and hold until youre into recovery... :good:
