Netflix android launch - Nexus S Themes and Apps

We are launching a netflix app for android today! Check the market in about an hour. Supported devices include NS.
If you are getting the 'unsupported device' message, try this: (also make sure you're using the apk from the MARKET not the leaked one, it doesn't work)

Thanks to Koush, here's the fix to get Netflix working. You must change your build.prop to the following:
Code:
# begin build properties
# autogenerated by buildinfo.sh
ro.build.id=GRJ22
ro.build.display.id=GRJ22
ro.build.version.incremental=121341
ro.build.version.sdk=10
ro.build.version.codename=REL
ro.build.version.release=2.3.4
ro.build.date=Fri Apr 22 14:30:35 PDT 2011
ro.build.date.utc=1303507835ro.build.type=user
ro.build.user=ctso
ro.build.host=blimpy
ro.build.tags=test-keys
ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.brand=google
ro.product.name=soju
ro.product.device=crespo
ro.product.board=herring
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=US
ro.wifi.channels=
ro.board.platform=s5pc110
# ro.build.product is obsolete; use ro.product.device
ro.build.product=crespo
# Do not try to parse ro.build.description or .fingerprint
ro.build.description=soju-user 2.3.4 GRJ22 121341 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=google/soju/crespo:2.3.4/GRJ22/121341:user/release-keys
# end build properties
#
# system.prop for smdkc110
#
rild.libpath=/vendor/lib/libsec-ril.so
rild.libargs=-d /dev/ttyS0
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
That's not including the "additional" properties (2nd half of the file)
Now it works for SuperAOSP 8.0 !

And the nexus s 4G!?
EvO 4G---> Nexus S 4G

Might be good to know what the app is going to be called, I'm thinking.

It's been an hour

got it! its up on the market.

Except it doesn't work on T-Mo Nexus S with CM7! Why have you forsaken?

EvO 4G---> Nexus S 4G

Confirmed that it doesn't work on Nexus S with CM7.0.2. And here I was, feeling all superior for using CM7.

Just installed going to test after conference call! So glad it finally released and compatible with our phones! I missed this so much coming from iPhone 4.

Tmo nexus s running ns collab .22
(cm7.0.3 with netarchy kernel).
The netflix app tells me my device isn't supported.
Sucks too because I was excited to hit resume on my trailer park boys episode.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App

Doesnt work here on stock 2.3.4 using Netarchy latest test kernel (.12 I think?) EFF.

Works on stock 2.3.3!
I was so worried it would not be compatible with our phones when released!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

from the netflix website:
* The Netflix app runs on these phones:
1. HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
2. HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
3. HTC Evo 4G with Android 2.2
4. HTC G2 with Android 2.2
5. Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3.

Could someone attach the apk for Netflix??

Copied link from engadget post not at pc sorry.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

Works in Evo 4G running Mikginger 2.3 with Sense 2.1. But I can't get videos to play.
Sent from my Evo 4G using XDA Premium App

I believe some of the custom kernels are to blame. Stock cm works, anyone confirm?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App

Yes please confirm. Maybe we can change the build fingerprint if it's changed from stock on CM7 plus other custom roms.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App

The build fingerprint looks fine. Must be something else?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App

Closely watching this thread for a solution.
Does not work on SuperAOSP 8.0 either (2.3.4) running Netarchy .12

[ROM][AOSP][Aplha build]New AOSP ROM for incredible

Is it possible to create a incredible ROM using the stock AOSP Froyo source.
I've done alot and have a running build.... but with problems. Mainly the touch screen registers no input, adb cannot find device to debug, and no VZW carrier signal.

There, FTFY...
I see.. stable being the issue.
I would like to not use use another ROM such as CM. I want to create my own, completely worked from the ground us. Of course I would add proprietary binaries to get features to work.
Any ideas why touch support is not enabled, or working in my build. Along with adb.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Virtuous 1.7 through XDA App
I don't know the how or the why, but AOSP touchscreen drivers seem to be different. You can make your touchscreen work by loading an AOSP kernel. As far as I know, adrynalyne, KingKlick, and Koush are the only folks who have written them. Install one of those and I bet you'll be good to go.
That could be the problem. I'm running HTC's stock kernel. I'll give it a whirl and see if that's it. I do have time to resolve this issue so I'll keep posting back.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Virtuous 1.7 through XDA App
HTC enables touch support in their framework. You must take additional steps to enable it in the kernel.
Thank you for the quick replies. Using kingskernel, touch was enabled but I have major UI problems. Hmmm maybe getting adb working should be my next step. Then I'll be able to debug it and potentially find my problem and resolve it. Anybody got any links or a direction to look.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Virtuous 1.7 through XDA App
Going to leave this thread in Dev since it is directly asking about creating kernels and whatnot.
@OP: Please edit the title to better reflect what you are looking for.
Anybody know how to add a carrier to a ROM (VZW). Adb might not work because I cannot enable it under settings due to UI problems. I'll upload the ROM if some of you want... still has MAJOR problems and no network access
I'm working to get a dev phone So I can work on the problems more. Flashing my own puts me out for hours sometimes.

usb debugging is enabled by default using the default.prop file in the ramdisk. this is what the file should look like.
Code:
#
# ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES
#
ro.secure=0
ro.allow.mock.location=0
ro.debuggable=1
persist.service.adb.enable=1

I tried a new generic inc build that has touch support thanks to kingskernel but has no touch button support. I'm going to try some of his others kernels, then CM kernel. I'm thinking this may be in the kernel area. Any ideas on how to remedy that.
Oh haptic feedback is working for the buttons. It just doesn't register intents. Maybe a permissions error?

I figured it was a problem with the build properties but I didn't know what to change. I took the APK out of another another current GB ROM. Could someone specify what to change in the build properties file and what impact that would have on Continuum 5.4.1?

easy solution
Just click on the paperclip icon on the continuum thread. The file you want is Voodoo_Sound.apk
I had the same problem until I realized I was looking for Voodoo sound not Voodoo control. I also attached it to my post
Voodoo Control App, and Voodoo Control Plus (if you dont have a kernel with voodoo sound in it) are both up on the android market now.
They've always been it was an issue that Voodoo wouldnt show because the model id atleast for Continuum 5.4.1 and earlier was for the SGS 2 for Swype which Supercurio did not support. But now that C5.5 has the model for the SGS 1 it works fine.

Gallery

I do not like the new gallery in ICS. Is it possible to revert to the old style gallery?

I uninstalled mines and use this instead:
QuickPic
One of the first things I do with a new rom is delete Gallery and install Quickpic, which is 264388x better.

What rom u guys using? CM9 and peters roms are hybrid of official and sdk gallery is slow and scrolling is not smooth compared to roms build purely off official release
Lot faster and very smooth

Use Root Explorer or ES File Explorer Free to copy the apk, navigate to System/App, mount as RW, paste the apk, set permissions, then reboot.
If it doesn't work after that, then the app probably needs specific framework structure found in the original rom. Some MIUI apps are like this and won't work with other roms.

The only problem with quickpic is that it will not sync with Google account. The stock ICS gallery is poop! Quickpic is awesome no doubt, but it could be better.

Hey Zach - can you toss us a gapps? (nevermind, see below.)
[edit]
Also - this is very odd - the home button isn't working on this one.
It triggers a vibrate BZZZT but doesn't take me to the homescreen at all.
Menu button works. Back button works. Search does not. (Not that I ever use it...)

Turns out after installing gapps-jb42-20121227-TINY-signed.zip the home button works after all - no need for the custom terminal fix.
Go figure.
This has to be the smoothest jb ROM I've ever used..

Zach,
What's with developer settings not sticking after a reboot? Any thoughts? When I reboot or change batteries, the option is disabled on boot.

Trick our phone build prop to gs4

Yes but you'd have to reflash your own custom build. Prop because the current rom you are using will automatically revert on every reboot
