Hi,
I'm planning on buying the O2x (after returning the G2x). The screen bleed is bothering me. I just wanted to mention that I'm planning on buying from Expansys USA and was wondering about the screen bleed issue on the O2x.
i never minded the screen bleed until most of the threads started up about them, then its like i couldn't help but noticing it more and more. from what was said some phones have it worse than others. MY O2X had bleeding at both top corners but was bearable.
Yes, it has gotten worse on my G2x. I think the whole problem is that if you have screen bleed it gets worse over time.
Every LCD screen has screen bleed. It's only when the screen is totally black anyway...
Why would you stare at a totally black screen all the time to look for the bleed??
you dont need to stare all the time, when playing games or some apps that have a black background is very noticeable and I saw when I had O2x, that is ugly.
It only seems to occur badly on some units.
My LCD hardly has any bleed, just ontop at the very edge it's noticable.

Does anybody elses screen image appear to be unstable, especially noticeable after hitting the tiangle soft key above the n hardkey when it kind of greys the screen? Its almost like the refresh rate isn't high enough, like the old style computer monitors. Also very noticeable on the blue jean wallpaper.
I have already taken back one NC due to a faulty bezel, this one was much better but now I am having screen issues.
Anybody else?
Yes, i bet they all have this issue.
The first Nook i had with the dead pixel and dust under the screen did it and my new one does it also on the darker grey screens.
ya, I noticed that as well, thought it was just my eyes being sensitive, only really notice it once in a while, when using apps it seems ok.
Jojo
Well I didn't notice it at all on my first one, but now that Im looking for it, it is very annoying. Im even seeing it in some of the apps that have darker areas.
How many times can you return for a new one without them telling you to shove it?
After fooling around with it some more I have made this observation.
The flickering only occurs at 10-50% brightness. Anything below that or above that seems to be flicker free.
I don't know...Bought mine at Best Buy and they really didn't want to take the first one back...
I really wanted to buy from Walmart because the probably won't give you the third degree on returns, but I was afraid they would have older stock with the sound issue..
If you have a screen with no dead pixels, I would consider yourself lucky and stick with the one you have..
I would return mine again, but I am afraid of getting one thats worse.
Hi everybody
I'd like to know if LG has now fixed the backlight bleeding (at the top corners of the screen) on this phone or is it still there ?
I like the build quality and the other specs but the bleeding made me sell the first one I got 4 months ago.
Thanks
Friend bought a set in early July, with a battery manufacture date of around end-may. Backlight bleeding still there at the top 2 corners, and lower right corner.
It won't be going anywhere, pretty much anything with an IPS LCD screen has it, iStuff included.
noobish question from relatively advanced user, but can someone explain or even show a photo of a screen bleed, Ive had a HTC Desire which the screen was fine, and the lg o2x which seems fine, but many people are complaining about the screen bleeding, just wanting to know what is so bad about it that you would change your phone???
Get in a dark room, crank the brightness to max and make the screen black (drawing program will do). You'll see it, kind of a glow from the corners. It's not really a huge deal in daily usage for most I reckon.
Got my second o2x couple of days ago..

Thanks for the photos. The bleeding on mine was yellow/brown which doesn't seem to be your case...
.... and what is the real point of this? I probably have the same bleeding (I won't make the try) and in a 'normal' usage (i.e with a multicolor screen and some lights around) I couldn't even have the slightest idea that such an issue could exist (I use my phone daily for 3 monthes)
So it's only a psychological concern, for people that need to have a Zero Flaw object in their hands even if the Flaws are invisible?
I'm sure as Rusty! said that you could find this in many LCD devices....
It depends how huge is the bleeding.
I had 3 O2X and one wasnt huge but the 2 others were awfull : the top corners were brown/yellowish.
Unfortunately, I sold the good one to buy SGS II...
This has something to do with the screen specs, can't be fix.

2nd image is not backlight bleed but typical IPS off-angle white glow. Has to do with the filter used for IPS panels; almost all IPS LCD monitors have it.
well than i think the backlight bleeding will forever be there .
even my friend asus transformer has it .
my phone is a week old and has bleeding on the top corners..
You dont notice it when you dont have a black screen!

Yep i know..
For a few months now i've been observeing some weird darker vertical stripes on my screen. I see them only when in gray screens(like the stock pulldown menu)
So....it's this some kind of defect of the amoled screens? i have the phone for one year now.
You sure it isn't just the wire running underneath the screen?
haaaa? no! i'm sure! i'm talking about lots of stripes 2mm's distant. and i've just been seeing them for a couple of months. so there's no wire involved
Yeah it's typical for OLED screens by the looks of things,
I am also starting to get those issues on my screen too
I noticed this problem yesterday :/ I have strange spots(darker than surroundings) in left to corner. I can see it only in grey color. Unfortunately ICS's colors are mostly grey
Is there any way to fix it excepting warranty?
that's not too good. this is definitely gonna influence my decision when i will buy a new phone.
Just thought I'd pipe up with my SGS which the screen (I believe is dying) I often get the lines in the OP but they're on the green side of the display meaning the green in the pixels are starting to burn in/out also I have a green gradient effect when it comes to the backlighting...when I'm lucky enough to get colour.
This however will not change my mind that I prefer SAMOLED display... I just need to replace my screen and I'm laughing. I like the ol' phone to much and I'm too poor to get a Galaxy Nexus so I'll wait for the SGSIII
I've had my N7 for a week and a half now, and there is only one flaw: I have a 1.5cm dark band down the right side of the screen. It's only really noticeable on white or solid pale colours, so for videos and games it's fine but it's a little distracting when reading black on white.
I have only the slightest amount of backlight bleeding round the edges, even under extreme conditions (ie. full brightness in dark room,) no dead pixels, no ghosting, no issue with washed out colour. So I'm just wondering if it's worth getting a return or just waiting to see if it evens out a bit.
I haven't found any mention of similar issues on the forum, so I'd like to ask how people are finding the uniformity of the display?
same problem
I have the same defect.
How did you resolve? Did you get a replacement?

I think I might have the same problem. But with mine it only shows after having the screen off for a while, and it slowly fades to normal after the screen warms up.
So far what I have done is have all dark themes so I dont see it anymore. Have tried to refit the cables inside and using pixel fixer apps, none had worked.

My screen has slowly gotten worse over the months and is due for replacement. It started as a flickering green screen that was only solved by putting it into a fridge/freezer until it started working again, when it was on and got warm it would eventually tart showing ghosting of brown all over the screen until cooled down, I dropped it w/o it's case on doing something else and now it's got a crack along the bottom, the green flickering has stopped but now the top 1/4 of screen is unresponsive...time to bite the bullet.
I've found a handful of videos on YT w/ recommended places to buy a replacement screens but I'm curious about their long term longevity, quality, resolution, are they still made using Gorilla Glass, etc. Price doesn't always dictate quality (ask any BMW owner) but a quick searches idn't net any results of anyone here replacing their screens.
