Hey everyone!
I just updated my HD7 to the latest software through Zune, 7.0.7392.0
Does anyone know the best way to go about jailbreaking the device to be able to sideload apps and stuff because of this update? I'm not sure if anything changed with the process after the update occurred.
Also, on that note I'm finding a few different links to jailbreaking the device and I'm not sure which method is the best way.
Thank you in advance for your advice!
First, you should read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808623
Than, if your phone wasn't jailbroken before getting 7392, there's no way to do it unless by getting a developper account.
This thread should be moved in general!!!

Hey guys, didnt see this question anywhere, so here goes.
I have an unlocked t-mobile g1 running on Rogers network in canada, Ive been getting a notice to please update to android 1.6 directly on my phone, is it in any way harmful if i do, could it lock my phone again or is it A OK to proceed.
Thanks alot for the help, You guys are great.
When you get a message like that, its simply a message saying that the current version of Android is outdated (Android I'm sure you know is the phones main system) so think of it as your computer popping up saying that there are updates available. This will not lock your phone, I have an unlocked G1 running on AT&T's network. Once the phone is sim unlocked, you can't re-lock it.
Its perfectly fine to do the update how ever if you want to go out and have some fun with your phone, I recommend checking out some of the roms and recovery images here, great Devs in this forum.
Well I hope this answered your question
Hey, thanks alot, exactly what I was hoping to hear.
Thanks man
Yeah no problem man
I don't know how strict people are about "searching" things before posting on the forums, but I rather get yelled at by some nerd on the internet, than to have my $350 device screwed over because I followed the wrong tutorial. Anyways here are my questions:
1) I bought this device from someone brand new, and it came out of the box configured to work with Windmobile, but I was able to get my FIDO SIM card to work by simply inputting it into the device. So does this mean that my device is already unlocked?
2) I still have the old 2.2 version on my phone, and I want the new version (2.3), but since I cannot update the OS from the device itself, I don't know what method I should follow from my computer, also I am afraid that I might lose my unlock (if it is) with the update.
Please link me to the proper tutorial, or give me some insight on my problem, Thank you.
I have just moved this question here from the General section, hope that's the right move.
I have just managed to root my old LG P880/4xHD using advice from this forum. Thought I would try on an old phone first. One reason I tried is because I cannot update Android via the usual About phone, Software updates, Check now for updates. The Android version installed is 4.0.3. I am in Australia and it is possible the phone is an overseas model (got it from a friend in LG). Has "Not for Resale" stamped inside the back cover. When I try to update Android, I get an error message "Registered Error - Your device is not registered yet." I had hoped rooting would get around this but it hasn't. Have looked up old forum posts and there is talk of using .kdz files and all sorts of other things. Can anyone help me get around this registration issue but please be aware I am a novice and most of the older posts I read, I couldn't understand, so simple explanations please. Thanks, Peter

Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums but was recommended by a friend. He said that if anyone knew how to do what I need to do, this would be the place so I appreciate any help given.
I am looking to wipe out my Nokia Lumia Icon which has the Windows Phone 8.1 Dev kit on it and put on Android. I tried Windows Phone out but there is still a few kinks that need to be worked out before I fully commit. I would normally just go get an Android Phone but finances don't currently permit and the hardware on this phone is nice.
Thanks

Hi,
If I understand correctly, you want to install Android on this phone? If this is so, then you can not.
By cons, I do not quite understand "Windows Phone 8.1 Dev kit" You mean the Preview for Developers?

Yes, I was looking to wipe off Windows Phone 8.1 and install android. Any reason behind why you can't do it? Just software/hardware compatibility or what?
I did mean the preview for developers.
Thanks!
... you're awfully new to this smartphone thing, aren't you? With *very* few counterexamples, what you're asking for is almost never possible. Without going into the technical details:
1) Most smartphones have locked bootloaders. WP8 devices won't load any OS without a MS signature; good luck getting one of those for your Android image.
2) There's no "installer" for Android (or for WP) the way there is for Windows 7 or Ubuntu or something. You have to customize an Android image with device-specific firmware, then flash the whole thing. There currently doesn't exist any Android-compatible firmware for the Icon.
3) Most important of all: SEARCH BEFORE POSTING! It is literally the number one rule on this forum. Lots of noobs have asked this question; it's annoying answering them over and over again.
If you want to install Android on Lumia Icon, why don't you just buy an Android phone ?
Good evening all.....
I have already search for this amongst the forums but unfortunately I could not find anything so I am hoping you are able to help.
I currently own a Huawei P9 EVA-L09C440B138 with EMUI 4.1 - Android 6.0 Installed, locked to EE-UK. My partner has the same mobile but with a different network and she received the update to EMUI 5.0, Android 7.0, MONTHS ago. You may or may not have heard, all EE customers with Huawei P9's seem to be suffering from the same problem, and whenever we approach EE we get the same bull**** response "when the update is ready you will be notified", no timescale, nothing.
So my question is, is there a way I can bypass the standard update procedure as I fear I will never get that update, or am I going to have to be patient and wait until further notice.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks guys

Thank you very much for this it looks relatively simple to do but would you be able to advise me if I need any preliminary software or if I need to do anything prior to installing this update. Is there a plan B in case there is potential for my phone to be bricked. If I were to in future self this device to a shop would they be able to tell that this was not a genuine update directly from Huawei?

Nothing extra needed.
There's always a plan B, there's several threads on her for recovering a bricked P9.
If you don't tell them, they'll probably never notice.
