Baaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha....what did you click on??
Pop-up from "Microsoft" telling you that your PC was infected?
Do not turn your PC off!!!
Go here
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/
look for whatever program is showing to be giving you the warnings (which is a fake virus protection program) and follow their instructions.
Download RKill (Google it) and install it on your PC.
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha!!! You be freaking out and stuff

If i had to hazard a guess what you are seeing is a common bit of malware that tries to trick you into downloading even more harmful content. You get a message telling you that you are infected and should run a scan using their software..which inevitably entails you entering your credit card info....
As above, Malwarebytes should find it if you can get it on your PC in the first place. My friend had this recently and i removed it manually. I can't remember the name of it now though. Just Google the exact message that pops up and you'll soon see what it is.
For future reference, always be aware of the normal processes that you find running in your task manager. It makes it a lot easier to see when something is running that is new or out of place. Ending that process will usually allow you to regain control of your PC.

Yep, if it's one of the rouge antiviruses, either malwarebytes, or google the name and remove the files, and then the registry entries. I've seen so many clients with that crap, and one of them even told me they have an antivirus, and pointed to something called 'Antivirus 8'. 10 minutes of explaining that its a malware....she tells me to put in her credit card info. -__-

I only have one pc and I can't use the internet on that or down load stuff. Only from my phone so I download the program to my phone then move it to the computer like that? Will that work and yes it was a program called e-something saying it was a virus protection

You have a smartphone right??
You should be able to download a removal tool (www.malwarebytes.org) to your phone and then transfer it to your pc via USB and install it that way......
Either that or grab a flash drive and use a friends PC to get what you need....
Edit;

In before buy a mac.
MBAM is a good tool, though a compromised machine should never be trusted again.
Learn to computer and you'll be fine.
LUA and DEP are a good start. Whitelist is better than backlist.

Ive had viruses that come in pop up ads from some sites that instantly give u a virus and they were annoying, they would install fake java exe on my computer saying i need an update and fake virus popups exe.
Malaware cleaned most of it, however some of the programs when the popped up i found the process went to it where it was at killed it and deleted it and then i was good

Antivirus 8 was the one i was thinking of. Good man! Stop the process, remove the folder from Windows folder iirc and clean up the reg entries.

If a pretty girl ask you to "donate" 500 dollars for some nipple action DON'T do it.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been using the pirated 2.15, but it will be nice to be using an official release for once so I'll know when the newest release is out.

Is there any way to get the apk from this newest release? I signed up for the beta and as soon as I did, I got a POP up saying my current version of swype had expired. And I can't do it the legit way since ATT blocks installs that are separate from the market. HELP!

Difficult in what way? I think its probably the easiest soft keyboard to use. I guess if you're not used to a qwerty keyboard then it does take some time to get used to where the keys are as swyping with efficiency does require you to have the letters locations committed to memory.

Exactly, it's hard to see as you're "swype-ing". I view this as just a novelty . After a little while it gets fun lol.

That's probably the reason people view it as a novelty. It becomes second nature after a while. I've gotten to the point now where I don't even have to look for individual letters on the keyboard as I'm swyping. I just need to view the keyboard as a whole and its just burned into my memory where I need to swype to get the letters. it just takes a little time, but once your get it down its by far the fastest way to type without having an actual physical keyboard.

Browser bookmarks

I still don't understand how or if possible to erase all my bookmarks in the web browser at one time. While in web browser I press Menu, Bookmarks, long press one and then delete bookmark. But to do that 80+ times, oh h**l no. Can someone please school me on a solution that won't delete anything else but the bookmarks, please? (I tried the search and like always all the results had NOTHING to do with what I searched, (I'm not saying, I'm just saying)
Now I'm so broke i can't even pay attention!
Settings - applications -manage applications - all - browser - erase data

Last time I tried that, it cleared all kinds of stuff. I had to re-login to all the sites I visit, it cleared files I downloaded, safesearch filter, all kinds of bad. I just wana get rid of the bookmarks and that's all. Any other solutions?
Now I'm so broke i can't even pay attention!
Not that I'm aware of. Try to find where your bookmark files are stored and delete them with Root Explorer, maybe?
Sent from my Zio using XDA App
Root Explorer? Sounds like something that'll void my warranty. Id love to try the whole "root" thing to see if its any better than stock but Im too a-scared to ask someone/anyone to walk me thru it (or shoot me a link to the steps n procedures) cause I'm sure ill get smashed. Oh yeah, anyways, I guess ill just delete my bookmarks one by one in 5min shifts for about an hour till they're gone. But thanks for ur time.

As long as you don't break your screen or run it over you can fix any OS issues from the information here on XDA.

Yeah. Just don't let anyone from cricKet see your phone. Haha. and if you break your screen, you can still just fastboot flash stock before turning it in (or break it to where they won't be able to tell either way).

Not downloading anything ...

I just got a DROID 3 now everytime I try to download a rom from the development section it just says download unsuccessful.
Any help?
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
Are you downloading using your phone? I'd recommend using a PC instead, then copy it to your phone.
The download sites that the devs use sometimes have goofy stuff like "click here" or "type these hard to read words". They sometimes confuse the phone (heck, they sometimes confuse me too.) Although, since they're free sites devs use to share the roms, it's well worth it.

Antivirus?

Do you use anything? If so, what? I'm using Avast. Good, bad, something better?
I don't use any antivirus. I don't think that it is necessary, I download once a month any well known antivirus like avast and run the virus scan. Antiviruses only consumes a lot of ram.
you just download and install app thr google play. you don't need antivirus
Viruses can infiltrate your device in many more ways than just apps from Google Play. But it is interesting nonetheless that very few see any value of having any protection.
Most studies on Android and antivirus programs have pretty much shown that they're useless. You're much more likely to have problems from permissions that are built in to legitimate apps than you are from a virus or trojan.
Andoid is basically omune to viruses becuase it is based on linux ! So u use antivirus for nothing!! It is tottaly useless and also the apps of antivirus are controlled by ram and cpu and pgone memory so if u where to het a virus your antivirus couldnt do shi*

I use Avast as well, mostly because of the free anti-theft features. I have never had much trouble, although sometimes it picks up false positives. This is usually fixed quickly.
I used to have Avast as well. But now I switch to free Chinese app called LBE Security Master, man it awesome.
kdartigliere said:
Actually you are wrong in saying that Linux is omune to viruses, it just happens that no one targets Linux since its much harder to penetrate due to tight security measures. In the last month there were 48 apps removed from the play store which were infected with malware. Of which a few had been collecting personal data for up to 6 months. I will agree though that antivirus is not of much use anyhow and it only allows down your phone tremendously. But just because your downloading from the play store does not guarantee all apps are virus free. Remember to publish an app is very easy and almost anyone could do it.

Ok, I stand corrected as you did say "basically". I was not by any means trying to put your comment down as I she with you that it is kind of pointless to have antivirus on Android. I only wanted to make others aware of the fact that just because it's the play store doesn't mean you're guaranteed safety. I would personally never run any kind antivirus on Android. Shoot first thing I do when I get a new phone is remove all the crap bloatware and minimize the heck out of my roms.

Its fine no probs, I agree that playstore is full of vulnerable apps that have permission to see all your personal stuff, thats where app store on iphone is better than android! But no antivirus can help with that. Regards

i used to use Avast also but removed it after doping some research. Personally i think that I don't need an antivirus program on mine, but that's just me. Since Android is based on Linux i think it is very safe against virus's. There are very very little Linux malware exists in the wild. Malware for Windows on the other hand is extremely common. Usually if I'm side loading an app i scan it with my computer first before i install it on my phone or tablet. Here's a link i found about Android and viruses. http://www.howtogeek.com/129896/htg-explains-does-your-android-phone-need-an-antivirus/

I have been using the free Avast anti-virus for years on all of my android phones, and it gets the top maks out of all the android anti-virus`s and i have never noticed and drop in battery life or performance.
Avast has never notified me of any Virus as i was downloading an app, so that might tell you something, maybe we dont need an anti-virus at all?
It has a firewall, but you need to be rooted for it to work.
John.
AV is same as any other app. Because it don't have all access rights it can't scan and control other apps. All it can is to get names list of installed apps, send it to AV HQ and get response from HQ.
It's useless. This is Android not Windows. Just ignore acticles written by antivirus companies. They want to scare you to use their crappy apps.
