Failed Downloads in Market - Nook Color General

I used a CWM sd card to install latest nightly of CM7. The nightly (70), didn have live wallpapers, but market worked.
I then wiped and installed latest stable CM7 and everything worked. But market wont download anything..i mean anything. It just says download failed with no further info.
SO i thought it was a bad flash, so i wiped and flashed again..still not working. Installed nightly 70 since that ones market worked...now it doesnt work either.
I dont understand why freshly installed from full wipe CM7 ROMs are not letting market download apps.
The market it self works..just wont download to install. Just download failed messages.
Please help.

Do you have an SD card installed? Try installing an SD card, I understand that Market needs an SD card for some reason.

Can't install Google SkyMap in Cyanogen 6

Is anyone else having problems installing Google SkyMap after upgrading to CyanogenMod 6? Is this a Froyo thing in general, or just a problem with CM6? Or is it just me? Any ideas on how to resolve this would be much appreciated.
SamDaSnake
Im actually having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution?
Same thing here, I have not been able to get it installed using Eugene's kanged Froyo and now same issue with Cyanogen 6.0.0.0
Had this issue on my gf's droid incredible, it was the test 8 version of cm6, I wiped and put it to RC3 and skymaps installed just fine.
CM6 kills my phone so I'm still on 5.0.8
The latest CM6 on G1/Dream, can't install Google Sky Map. The rest of apps were installed fine.
BTW, initially I couldn't install anything until I wiped my phone (upgraded from CM6-RC).

same here......im thinking its a froyo problem........
I had no problem installing it, though I may have done it while running RC3.
I have Chromatic 4.5 which is based of CM6 stable and Google SkyMap installed and runs OK.
So I don't think it's a froyo problem.
I've had a few apps not install on CM6 Sky Maps being one of them. The fix i found that worked for me was:
1:set preferences to install to internal memory
2:unmount the SD card
3:install the apps
4:remount SD
5:move apps from internal to SD.
Like I said it worked for me, your milage my vary.

Yeah that's what I did, first time it said it couldn't move it then I tried again and it worked.

[Q] Have I destroyed my nook? Tried everything from google.

And now I'm at your mercy.
I received my Nook Color (1.1.0) today and immediately rooted it with Autonooter 3.0
After that, I went ahead and attempted to flash the Honeycomb rom. I was greeted with this error message in Clockwork and now no matter what I do, every time I clear everything and attemot to install a romm.zip, I get this error message in CWM:
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "zoom2" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "zoom2:
E:Error in /sdcard/romrestore.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any help?
If clockwork works you should be able to fix it. Try downloading the rom again. I had a bad download once.

are you attempting to use CWR from a SD card, or from internal memory? Which CWR version are you using? Also what are you selecting in CWR to install your zip file?
Have you tried Re-burning your SD card, it sounds like the image might be corrupted.
Also if you wiped everything try Restoring back to stock

Use this thread.
**O yeah also, which HC rom are you attempting to use, and did you check your download against the MD5?
Is it this rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947071 it listed MD5. so you can make sure you download is not corrupted.

Ok well that Link should work for you then.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690
Also I was reading on the HC thread, and looks like the newest version requires EXT4 CWR, which is Version 3.0.0.6 the old version 3.0.0.5 will not work for CM7 or that new HC version. So if you were using the old version that would be the problem.
Don't worry you haven't broken your nook if you can still boot off the SD card, then you can Recover your nook. It might just take some reading of the threads.

Just download the 1.0.1 zip files put it in the root of the CWR Sd card, and flash it to the system like any flashable zip file. Remember to Clear your System and Data partitions first. then once that is done you should beable to boot into a completely clean and freash non-rooted 1.0.1 state, Then just download the 1.1 update from B&N website, and do a normal update to 1.1 then you can Root it or anything you want.

If you are restoring to Stock 2.1 then the old one 3.0.0.5 will work fine,
if you need to install that HC rom, or CM7 then you wil need the 3.0.0.6 version which supports EXT4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959240
I'm pretty sure you can use that to flash EX3 partition as well, so that one will be good for using from now on till a newer version comes out.

This is the IMG file that you will need to burn to your SD card..... if your on windows I recommend using Win32Imager..... once you have your CWR sd card, Download the 1.0.1 Zip then drop that zip file into the root of the CWR SD card.... Boot off the CWR SD card. clear your system, data, and cache. Install the Zip file......
if you still can not boot after this you might have corrupted your boot Partition.
in which case you will need to download and flash THIS FILE which is a stock boot partition.
there are so many helpfully threads on this forum, you should really take some time and read through them.

When you "Chose romrestore.zip" what menu item are you using in CWR
You should be going to "install zip from sdcard" >then "choose zip from sdcard" > then select your zip... I assume you are doing it like this.
the only thing I can think of if you are doing everything write is that your Zip file is corrupted. or you permission are screwed up....
Please download http://www.winmd5.com/ and verify that the file matches the MD5 checksum...
If your using the 1.0.1 from the link I gave you then the checksum is this
md5sum: 6d00a461a221e69195440355f6706104
While I was waiting, I tried the CWM removal and that worked, I can get to the "Touch the future of reading" screen.

Yep - you can install CM7 by getting the update.zip from teamdouche, copying it to your SD card, booting into CWM and selecting Install update.zip from SD card. This will overwrite your stock with CM7.

Are you sure of this? If you look at the steps described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227 you have to first prepare your SDCard and then install from that. I tried just installing from cwm in stock root and ended up getting assert errors and aborted installation... and if you wipe the caches like it explains needs to happen, you are stuck booting into cwm untill such time as you follow the instructions in the thread I posted, which work without a hitch if you are able to follow instructions,
migrax
What special preparation? The image being burned to the SD card is just clockwork mod, which isn't necessary if he already has CWM. Once in CWM, that guide just has you flash the CM7 update off the SD card. I don't know about the assert errors, but I don't think it has to do with how you've prepared the SD card.

So what are you wanting to do? Boot CM7 off SD card? If so, this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
Sk8house911 is right. Just make sure you flash the correct cwr from rom manager, which is 3.0.1.0 And make a backup before you do anything.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
If you want to keep the stock B&N reader, you can install CM7 to a SD card per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957. I did this and also installed a dual-boot menu, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=962708, and can select either stock on the eMMC or CM7 on the SD card.
I'm quite happy with this arrangement, although I may change things around after the B&N Froyo update arrives.

Android 3.0? Are you talking about Honeycomb? In most cases you don't need ADB to get the Android Market on to your Nook. You should be able to flash it using the Clockwork Recovery.
What version of Android do you have installed? Where to you have it installed to? Exactly what is your end goal?
I have android 3.0 Honeycomb installed on a 32GB Micro-SD. It works fine. My end goal is to just use the nook as much like I do my phone as possible. So i want to download Gmail, Kindle, Facebook, Google+, Music, etc.
I do have a 2 gig clockwork recovery SD already setup and did a backup of the Nook before I started. How can I use it to get Google Market and Amazon Market installed?
Using Honeycomb on the Nook isn't recommended, it is far from completely functional and there is no on going development on it, the devs are waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich.
I recommend using CM7, the nightlies seem to be the most functional and stable and are actively developed and supported.
That said if you are intent on using it anyway I would recommend going with the latest effort by Divine_madcat, from what I understand it is the most up to date and functional of the ports, here, it installs on the internal memory and comes preinstalled with the Market.

The reason I went with Honycome was that it was so easy, I just wrote the image to the 32GB SD and turned it on.
I would like to install to the internal mem but the first one i tried using my 2GB Clockwork SD didnt work...
Oh and my Nook is V1.2.
Burn the CWR image here to your SD card, once you've done that you can grab the latest nightly here , throw it on your SD card and flash it by booting up the Nook with the SD card inserted and choosing "install zip from sd card". Remove the SD card from your Nook and boot it up, then open the Rom Manager app and go to "download rom" then download and flash gapps. once you've done that you'll be all up and running, you can then use a program like mini tool to repartition your SD card.

Clean format ur SD card.
Download this.
Unpack it.
Write it to the SD card.
Download the latest stable release or nightly build of CM.
Put the downloaded ROM to the "boot" partition of ur SD card.
Boot the NC.
Let it install and reboot.
Connect wifi on successful boot and turn off the NC.
Download Gapps here.
Reboot it to the recovery by pressing "N + power" keys at the startup
It will install Gapps and reboot thats it.
Hit thanks if it helps
Ok that worked great!! Thank you!
But I dont understand what "Flash Gapps" is and I dont see it... I have a 2nd SD card so I dont care about repartitioning the one I used to get the image on...
It wont let me mount the SD card that has the GAPS on it. And it keeps saying "only premium user can mount..." etc.
So I reboot and install GAPS the same way I did the image??
I'm confused again

Copy ur Gapps to the "boot" partition of ur SD card having CM7 and power it on holding the "power and N" keys together till it says "loading recovery" it will install the same way like it installed CM7 ROM.
Thats all.
If this doesn't work let the CM7 power on and hold power off and check the option "Reboot into recovery".

Updating CM7 nightly on SD card questions

I have cm7 nightly version .177 on my NC booting from an SD card. Some questions:
1. Is there enough change between .177 to the latest to make updating worth while? I couldn't find any list of changes between the latest and mine.
2. How do I update?
3. Will updating erase all my apps and data? I have the old market working fine finally and would not like to lose my screens and apps etc.
1. http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=encore NC-specific changes are highlighted a darker color (like the LCD density change in #200).
2. If you made your card using verygreen's SASD, which you likely did, just download the update on your PC, insert SD card to PC, and drop the update on the boot directory. Reinsert SD in NC, boot into CM7, then in the Power menu, Reboot > Recovery.
3. Nope.
1. I don't think so, but I updated anyways.
2. You can use ROM Manager if you've downloaded verygreen's SD installer [which is fantastic, wow]. It might take a try or two but it gets there.
3. It won't, yeah. ... Also, I wish I had the old market. I hate you.
I wouldn't update if I were you and you have it working perfectly. There's always the -chance- of something happening when you do anything, you know?
Getting the old market was pretty easy for me, but maybe I just got lucky? I uninstalled the updates, cleared the cache and then I used Titanium Backup to uninstall the market updater.
You can still safely update without losing your apps. Just put the .zip file in the boot partition and it will install when you reboot. Only wipe Davlik to keep everything.

If you have nightly #177 you should have ROM Manager which should pull in the update automatically for you. ROM Manager is part of the CM7 build and is a system tool.
If you want to update simply from #177 to current download the latest ZIP file to your SD card. Then boot to Recovery, Install from SD Card, Select ZIP File and there you go. You will need to wipe Davlik only before rebooting.
If ROM Manager is not included in nightly #177 my fault, just not sure when it was added.
@ patruns and Hyper
Why do you guys suggest OP to wipe cache or Dalvik when he said he booted CM7 from uSD?
Is there really a way to do so?
Plus ROM Manager has no effect on CM7 running off uSD.
To be honest, I didn't read his whole post. My comment was just to let the person know they would not lose their apps as long as they didn't clear the data since that seemed to be a concern when updating.
