My battery is acting up on me I charge my phone to 100 percent turn it off then I will go to bed and wake up turn my phone on and it says its only 50 percent charged so I have to charge it again. I calibrated with an app of the market followed instuctions to the t months ago thought the battery needed time to gets its memory again but its been long enough.
First, how old is this battery? If you've had the OG Droid for a while or bought a used Droid, try grabbing a new battery on the cheap - try Amazon.com. A new $5 battery was far better than my 1-year old piece of junk battery.
Next, are you running a stock image or did you root your phone? Rooting and installing a custom rom - I highly recommend Steel Droid - really helped my battery life, but that's only if you want to take the risks involved. You can also reset the battery log if you root your phone and install Rom Manager.
Its probably an app like droid tv keeping your phone awake. I had droid tv on my phone and it would drain a fully charged battery overnight

Thanks for the input. My phone is rooted and Im running the chevy rom simply stunning 5.2 and loving it. I did some research on this board and found out a good way of calibrating my phone instead of the app I got off the market. So far its working great. But I do need to get on amazon and buy a new battery.

It seems my android system is destroying my battery , it is always at the top of the list with display usually coming in well under. This screen shot was taken with very little use today. I upgraded the battery to the andida 1980 mah battery and I have been using juice defender ultimate and I do get a few more hours out of the device but the android system is still the largest drain. any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Its normal for a stock thrill. But that doesn't mean it should be that way necessarily... I have gb on my other two phones and android system has always been toward the bottom.

Welcome to the club. I charge mine twice a day at least.
Dude, no kidding. I charge mine 2-3 times daily, plus the whole time driving to and from work. Android eats normally 50-60% of my battery. Sadly, I still love it. Plus I work for at&t selling these things. I tried the 3500mah battery, but I hate having a naked phone.
I'm not sure what I'm doing different but my android system is at 30-39%

They say it's some sort of system glitch but no one knows the cause. I'm running Thriller which is amazing. Much better than stock. These phones have a lot of potential.
Change the Launer, try Launcherpro, after installing the launche reboot and see.
After a ton of research this is what I've found. I think its the answer as to why the battery is getting drained, but there doesn't seem to be a fix. I installed Juice Defender which has throttled my OS from coming on and leeching the internet whenever it feels like it. Sometimes I get cell standby, phone idle and display above android OS, which is a god send.
I found this out using Battery history and Betterbatterystats.
The main culprit seems to be the Suspend command. Google knows about this issue and LG had to of known but they released Froyo on the Thrill anyway.
Issue 11126
I use watchdog to monitor mine. At first I set it to alert me if it ever went above 30% which should be way to much but I got it so often I decided to move it up to 50% to give it a little extra time to "suspend" my phone. I get less alerts now so it must be working eventually but I've had it alert me at 80% before...suspend....using 80% processing power to put my phone to sleep?!?!? Thats rediculous. So you go into the "partial wake" section of betterbattery and battery history and you find out that the main culprit of keeping your phone awake and fighting "suspend" is either the "dialer" or "datatracker". Dialer seems to encompass anything that uses the internet but I could be wrong so that one is pretty broad. DataTracker turns out is your Fast Dormancy. There are many threads on the internwebs that tell you how to disable fast dormancy as its more of a neusance than usefull if the carrier isn't tuned right for it but none of these seemed to work for me so for now I'm stuck letting dialer and FD fight Suspend and just catching it when I can with Watchdog. Gingerbread can't come soon enough and hopefully its a version that fixes this as many users in the "issue" thread were using GB.
I lost tons of sleep over this and the only thing I could do was install Juice Defender. I hate depending on a 3rd party app to control and throttle everything on my phone but so far I still get all my push emails fairly instantly and really don't even notice its there, I still just hate the idea of it. but, for now it works. Yesterday I was at 27% after 17 hours of moderate use. Phone calls, emails, texts and maybe even some 3D gaming but I couldn't remember for sure. I also use Battery Graph to give myself a visual representation of my battery throughout the day and that helps me see when and where my batter is getting drained or if its going to sleep properly. Keeping my Wifi on also seems to drain it so unless I need fast internet I have it off. It doesn't seem to sleep properly when its on even if I have it set to "sleep when screen off" as the phone still likes to "partial wake" and run wild on the net.
Sorry if its long winded and confusing but after tons of research on this I've come to accept what I've found. I hope it has helped someone.

I also changed my launcher to Go Launcher and it helped LG Home stop using battery.
So there I started out at actually 70%. After swapping to launcher pro, rebooting, and charging, it's gradually gone down to 40%

My android system is at 23% with GO Launcher EX. It's the third at my list with Cell Standby leading with 34%
I've been unplugged for about 2 hours now. Oddly enough my phone only says 21 minutes. Android system is back at 67% and standby is at 10%.

You all have to remember froyo isn't the greatest when dealing with resources hence why Gingerbread was released so hopefully once we get that update things will be much better.
If you use cwm, try battery calibration. when you reset it the battery meter become more accurate.
I use up my battery from 100% downto 40%really fast. but the remaining 40% looks far more than the first 60%

I've had issues using other chargers.
Not that it wouldn't charge, but the touch screen goes crazy while trying to use it on the after market charger. Once removed it was fine.
So yeah I would say only use the LG charger.

First time poster long time reader.
I recently got a Brand New 4000mAh Extended Battery + Back Cover For Motorola Droid Bionic XT875 from ebay.
The battery works great! But when I charge it it charges to 100% then jumps down to 80% and back up to 100% constantly. When it discharges it takes about a half hour to drain down to 1% and it stays there until it is dead (about 12 hours later). I've tried wipeing the battery stats and useing the battery calibration app and nothing works.
Again the battery works fine its just an inconvenience to not see how charged it is.
Any ideas? Thanks!

I had an almost identical issue with I got my phone with the standard battery. The phone would charge to 40% and stay there. The next morning it still said 40% and stayed there until it died (14 hours later). I did a factory reset and that took care of it.
I've tried a factory restore and still nothing. I think the problem might be that I switch between extended battery and stock battery sometimes and it's confusing the phone. I have no idea what to try next.

Hmmmm swells93,
I don't know if this will help at all but my last droid (the very first one with slide keyboard) I would switch back and forth with standard battery to extended and my phone always recognized each just fine so I cant imagine that the Bionic would give you problems. I have heard of others on this forum using the standard batter as a backup and they seem to have no problems with the battery meter recognizing the battery level. Try calling customer support?

I got an X2 and got the extended battery. Mine is messing up too. Mine gets half as much life as my stock battery did.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk
I have purchased extended batteries on ebay before, ones even labeled "OEM" that were fake crap, and just would not hold a charge. I have learned basically to stay away from the chinese battery sellers, and be real skeptical about the rest.
Starting 3 days ago when I restored my nandroid backup of just the normal stock LG ROM that's comes on the phone but still rooted. And now.my battery barely last 3-4 hours with light use. If I listen to.music while riding the bus carpool.to work or.through my car stereo. Or especially if I use the net, YouTube, and other apps or.download and update stuff. It barely last 2 hours maybe 3 and a half. I know battery life on stock roms are lousy and I am used to using a custom rom but even on stock when I first got the phone I would get 5 maybe 6hours on medium to heavy use and even more on low to medium use. So any ideas on what's up with this issue. I am starting to think my battery is messed up and taking a dive.

Sounds like it could be the battery. It could also be that a newly-installed program is constantly running in the background. I know that ROM toolbox pro has an App Manager program that will show you which programs are running (You should also be able to check this under settings/applications/running services on your phone).
If you don't have the extended battery yet I highly recommend it. My phone typically lasts 12+ hours uncharged with Moderate use. Granted I am on BO Rom 1.1 instead of stock but the battery life has been dramatically increased and the extended batteries have been on sale at verizon now.
Sounds like a bad battery. I had my original one that started to last only 4 or 5 hours with light use. I had bought a dock off amazon that had 2 batteries and also an extended off verizon. Now I always have charged batteries.

Picked up a droid 4 a couple months ago, the battery life always seemed crappy, but then again I run my phones hard (hotspot, etc) then one day it went down real quick, and wouldn't charge. Already did my homework so I knew the screws in back were the positive and negative terminals. Checked the voltage, it was way low, like 3 or lower. Busted out my B6 charger and was finally able to get the thing charged, but it drained retarded fast. Someone was selling a D4 w. the battery removed on craigslist for 60 bucks, so I snagged that, turns out the battery was severed at the cable so I still got no battery, but I Do have a spare D4, so I start troubleshooting. Turns out with my old D4, with any battery connected to it, would start draining at half an amp. Starting up it hit 1.25+ . at that rate the phone would be dead in 90 minutes. The Other droid was more reasonable, .6 or 7 at start up, and .2 baseline. I Ended up Modding the second D4 to run off a couple 18650's I had. IT works, and ran forever but I just snagged a couple LiPoly's that will shrink the case some. Anyone got any ideas why the original phone is draining batteries even when off? Anyone here swapped batteries on the things?
its a (suggested) non removable battery for a reason lol
yea because then they can make it xXX .XX MM Thinner, due to not having to ruggedize it at all (to prevent flexing). If they had put a decent one in there in the first place I never woulda removed it
Pictures of this mod? What are you using for casing? Which Li Poly did you go with? RAZR max batteries?
My wife came home today with her battery completely drained today and she is a light user. Ota ics causing this?

I'm on the verge of selling this phone because of it. Im on Pacman 5.1.1 and I the thing average around 2:30 of SOT! Is this normal???
How old is your phone? As the battery ages it will lose capacity. My G2 is more than 2 years old and I'm noticing that battery life isn't what it used to be.
Also if I do something which causes high battery drain, like navigation with the screen on and high brightness, afterwards (screen off, navigation off) I will notice the battery percentage recover. Just last night the battery was at 13% by the time I was done navigating with screen on. Half an hour later (during which time screen was off) the battery level shot back up to 23%.
This is called "sag" and is normal.

Here's something that can improve your battery life :
Flash a custom debloated rom. If you like UX, flash either ndm , cloudy g2 3.3 or icex rom, i have used them all and they are great.
Next, use dorimanx kernel , flash it and give it a day or two for your battery to settle in, select battery profile, full charge and use it, you will see the battery is improved.
Use greenify and hibernate app after using them so that they dont run when u turn off your screen, which is called deep sleep .
Use better battery stats to monitor battery consumption.
My phone is a year old and a half and i am getting 5 hour SoT using these.
Phone came out 3 years ago, so even if you happened to get one brand spanking new yesterday never used before the battery has some 'wear' on it from sitting in a box on a shelf or whatever. If it's been in use over the past 3 years then obviously the battery life will NOT be anything like it was when it was brand new fresh from the factory.
If you take the back cover off you'll be able to see the manufacturing date on the battery itself clearly (yes you can actually remove the back cover itself, just do it carefully to not damage the clips, there's no sticky tape holding the cover on just the typical clips around the outer edges.
If battery life is that bad then either install a custom ROM and use some kernel manager (requires root obviously) or order a new battery but make sure it's an OEM actual LG battery and not some cheap Chinese knockoff which there are plenty of. Get an original LG BL-T7 and run with it, I'm about to order one myself since the battery in my G2 is dated 2014.04.24 as pictured. It works fine, but obviously now that I'm the "new" owner of this G2 (just got it last week) I intend to make use of it for the foreseeable future and a brand new OEM battery will be the best solution for me in that respect.
