My phone wont play youtube videos in HQ. It only plays the sound with no video (in HQ). However both will play in regular quality. I didnt have a problem with this before, it just kinda came up. Before i could stream HQ videos really well using WiFi. Now that doesnt even work. I just get sound, no video. Also the video players on the market just play really choppy.
I have tried searching. I couldnt find people have the same type of problem. Please help to see if im missing something here.

Look in themes and apps for the Darkhorse thread its an flashable black youtube zip dl that flash it and see if it helps. Also what are your cpu setting set at in cm/settings??? As in min/max frequency?? And what governor do you have it set on??

It's a known issue with no known workaround.
I know some videos on YouTube are encoded differently. Some I can view in hd and download. While others I cannot view.

I've had better results with the zip from the dh thread that kfunk posted. With that one I can usually play most of them. The op stated he couldn't play any. So hopefully that zip can get him to play at least a few of them..

My Min CPU frequency is 19MHz and Max CPU frequency is 691MHz. Also, i recently tried to download a Darkhorse theme and and this is what i got while attempting to flash:
E: No digest for system/app/LatinIME.apk
E: Verification failed
Istallation aborted.
(if you have any advise on that, then that would be great also)

Well like jm posted its a known bug. And as far as the theme that's not what I meant. Just grab the you tube apk.zip that's all. Flash that. Also try bumping up your min frequency to say like 176 or 264. Also change your governor to on demand. If you want to know more on the bug jm's the man to pm. He knows a whole lot more on it than I.

I did flash the black youtube successfully, however it still does the same thing. Sound, but no video. I just changed my frequency to 264 and ill try that out. So i quess it is just a known bug. I just thought it was weird that i never had this problem especially with WiFi. Maybe its just YouTube itself with their new settings or something. Anyway, thanks alot for your reply. I really appreciate it.
No prob. The bump in frequency might help ""might"". And that bug has been around for a while in gb. It affects some more than others. Also if you never had the prob before and you were running gb try going back to a nand if you have one were it wasn't acting up and play a few vids. If it doesn't do it as much then look at your setting and make a note of them. Also check out which apps you were running and make a note of them. Then look at your current setup and compare. Also check out your apps. Have you downloaded any newer ones??? Do a little process of elmiation and see what you come up with. Well good luck. If you need anything else just let me know.

I haven't seen anyone mention this app here yet(if I missed it forgive me). It's called LukLuk and the quality of the movies is great although the selection isn't that big it has some decient choices. I haven't seen this in the market myself but my GF says that's where she got hers from. I recently flashed Haykuros Sapphire/Magic build so that's pobably why I haven't seen it. The app can also be downloaded directly from the site www.lukluk.org. I had a few problems with force closes and a notification telling me to set up a network connection, but a quick uninstall and reinstall seemed to fix the problem. Check it out, FREE streaming movies? You can't beat that.

Cool.. Just loaded it on vegan beta 5.1. Seems to work just fine. Don't know if I see any more stuff, but never really had a problem finding things with the other ones.
I do notice that the appearance seems crisper. Like maybe they are using a higher quality. Or, maybe not.
Still the same for me. Stars still truncated. Missing apps still missing.
The new apk is about 600 MBA larger than earlier one.

Just for fun I went ahead and did the market fix again. Didn't need to but I saw the earlier post and was curious. I never could get it to open after the first reboot. Had to reboot again. Then once it started working I have noticed more of the "android.process.acore" errors, and server errors then with the older one. I will be rolling back to a previous version myself since this doesn't seem to really make anything better.
I wonder if there should be an updated GoogleServicesFramework with this?

Kind of wonder that myself. Did you notice any difference in the look? Like a higher res look for the fonts? Or was I just seeing things? That would sort of make sense for the size difference of the file I guess..

I'm running vegan 5.1 with pershoots latest kernel and here are my findings thus far. I backed up market with titanium and installed the update, immediately opened market. Everything looks to be there, I searched for a few things and installed one or two. I looked for adw and couldn't find it, I did see its themes but not the app. Rebooted, loaded up market no fc's, until I tried to roll back to previous version to look for adw because I am almost certain it was there before. Interestingly I did see appbrain which I've never been able to get before. Never tried market fix, and did not notice any image improvement. Anyone know for certain what to look for to see if it actually improves previous market? I'm going to try and fix my market now and will report back if anyone's interested.
I installed via the apk (there is also an update.zip available) and all working well. No reboot or clearing Google Services Framework required.
I had previously preformed the well documented market fixes but could never quite get the entire market. Everything appears to show up now.
I'm not sure it is complete I can't find a few things. But then again I found a bunch of things I couldn't find before either. Catch 22 yet again.
anyone else having a problem with 'Media Volume' not working after this update? The rocker doesn't work, I tried to go in the settings (I had to unmute and turn the system sound back up - no dice), I even tried to play a video and turn up the sound using the software controls within that program....nothing works.
How do I revert back? Where is the old .apk located?
....also had to turn my wi-fi on with each reboot, which is new.

I think it would be most helpful if you guys actually listed the names of the titles of the apps that you either DO or DO NOT see once you have tried this. Just might help in the troubleshooting aspect. For what its worth.

I am by no means new here, but I have not posted much so the forum will not let me ask my question in the relevant rom thread.
Everything is working great on the rom and I even got a 287 on quadrant... the highest I've ever gotten on any rom on this phone.
However, when I shut off my screen and or turn it on, the animation is really screwy. It looks like what happens when you turn an old tv on/off.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Relevant info: before flashing I went through my sd card and deleted most of the jpegs... which I didn't think would hurt anything because they were all old pictures and wallpapers etc.

These are Screen-On & screen-off animations. If you want to disable them, go to Settings -> CM settings -> Display -> Uncheck Screen-On & Screen-off animations.
BTW, Quadrant scores or any such... don't really mean anything.

CM7 doesn't work with youtube. I'm not sure what your intentions are, but you can't play videos until the problem with the dsp/audio code gets worked out. Fortunately, it seems they have the problem narrowed down, so when The Great One returns from spring break, he has said he plans to hit the ground running.

Youtube .apk now works perfectly in cm7 (in HD), not just youtubexl or whatever, also quadrant doesn't get hung, so id guess video issues are "coming along".

Delete the Youtube.apk from /system/app then just install YouTube from Market.
Also make sure you have Flash Player 10.2 from Market.
If you use the lastest version of CM7, YouTube works, but at only 15fps..
Hopefully, this will be fixed soon...

How do I check the FPS? Im pretty sure its running higher than 15...same vid looks the same next to my EVO's in HD...ps...This is a version of 2.16 I found on another thread a bit back when trying to get it to run in HC (looking for thread now...sorry, but I've got about 20 versions of youtubes (and vendings..lol) in my dropbox and on my sd cards.

Our definitions of "working perfectly" are very different.
Also, it's my understanding that the Youtube app does not use flash. It streams an Mp4 or something for efficiency and hardware accel. The YoutubeXL app is really just a browser pointed at youtube's XL site and it uses flash (software accel)

Maybe they are and maybe not...what I am trying to say is that my youtube works perfectly...in HD...just as well as it does on my phone...I'm trying to figure out WHY. If it is truly working the way it's supposed to, I wanted to share what I had going. I know that the apk doesn't use flv....(My flash works fine, too, so maybe I accidentally did something right there, as well.) Does anyone know how to measure fps in the youtube.apk setting? Thanks.

When I go to the market, it displays these apps but there is no INSTALL or DOWNLoad button. It's missing from the app page. I have tried going to the developers page and the same thing happens. It's as if it doesn't recognize the NOOK Color when CM7 is running. Latest CM7 version was installed less than a week ago. NetFlix works however. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, thanks for the response. I read the post earlier but it referred to "updates". I wish to install the program for the first time. I have a new first-time install of CM7 and presumable it contained the new market. The apps show up but there is on Install button showing. Is this still the 160 vs 161 issue?

Okay, this was very helpful and works with brand new installs and presumable updates as well. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm glad I can now see the Install buttons on many more applications.
The only problem I have now is that many of the videos on YouTube give me the following error when I try to load them:
"There was a problem while playing... Touch to retry." Retrying doesn't help. The same videos load and play properly using my big Windows 7 computer. Has anyone seen this error and has a suggestion for a fix?

Before I ask my question, I just want to let everyone know that I have searched and searched and searched for the answer to this before posting. Please don't be a troll unless you have a link that helps me. There are thousands upon thousands of pages and unfortunately xda's search function leaves a lot to be desired.
Now, here is my setup:
emmc CM7
Kernel OC'd to 1.1 ghz
DSP equalizer enabled
MortPlayer Music
What I get is a fairly regular skip/pop whenever I play any song from my music collection (mp3/m4a, mostly). Sometimes it will go almost a whole song without skipping but very rarely. From my research I do know that this WAS an issue with CM7 pre-stable release, but now there seems to be no discussion about it. It's not listed in known issues as far as I can tell so I thought this issue was no longer, well, an issue.
Here's all the things I've tried to get the music to work.
1. I dropped the kernel down to 800 mhz, thinking it may be an issue of my Nook not handling the OC'd kernel. Same result.
2. Flashed back to CM7 stock kernel. Same result.
3. Changed music players (stock, Meridian, cubed). Same result.
4. Made sure the files were not corrupted by copying the files to my phone (EVO Shift) and playing them. They play perfectly on my phone.
5. Disabled DSP thinking perhaps I had the level set too high and it was peaking. Same result.
6. Moved music from external storage (sdcard) to internal storage (emmc/My Files/Music) thinking that my class 6 card wasn't being read properly. Seemed to fix it for the first song or two, then same result.
7. Flashed phiremod 4/13 version, which again, seemed to help at first, then I got the same result.
8. Added (then removed) Auto Killer Memory Optimizer thinking that perhaps memory was getting low while I was playing music. Removed it thinking that maybe it was constantly trying to kill the Music app. Same result with or without AKMO.
9. Disabled the keep home in memory option in CM Settings thinking it was straining the system. Same result.
10. Dropped performance settings in Launcher Pro thinking the same thing as #9. Same result.
11. Switched launchers. Cm Version ADW, ADW EX, LP, Launcher7, Zeam, the launcher I use makes absolutely no difference.
I'm sure I've tried a few other things that I can't think of, but that is about it. What bugs me about it is that even if I'm not doing anything else on it, i.e., I just let it set and play music, it still skips. Even if I'm not performing other tasks such as surfing the web or playing a game. The other strange thing is that youtube and even flash video in the browser work flawlessly, so I really don't understand what the problem could be. I do know that a while back when the video issues were being ironed out, DSP was broken, but I thought that was fixed by rc4. Flash would presumably take up WAY more resources than the music player, why don't I have any problems with it? Would it be a problem with the audio codecs for mp3/m4a?
I'm really stumped here guys. My hours of searching have proved fruitless, so hopefully someone will have the elusive link I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for any help I receive.

If you don't want to wait the DEV Kernel topic has a ALSA update as well as an experimental 4/13A kernel that together fix this problem. As well as give you quandrant scores close to 2500! =D

Then you did not install it with the ALSA update...

Thanks for the fix! Just applied it and 4 songs in....the "snap, crackle, pop" is gone. Happy camper here. Also thanks to the OP for bringing this up in such a thorough way, surprised I had not heard of anyone else having this issue.
Dsp manager
I've noticed for a while now since Nightly 27ish, maybe prior, that my DSP manager doesnt work correctly. To modify the settings through my headset, I actually have to modify the Phone Speaker settings.
Is this a known issue, or am I missing something?

First off, this is by far the best and most thorough description of the music playback problem that I keep running into, so kudos and thanks to the OP!
But sadly, I upgraded to CM-7.1.0 stable and this is still happening. I see the mention of installing dalingrin's update-alsa-041411.zip, but I can't find that anywhere.
I'm also surprised that this problem is still present in CM 7.1.0 stable. Does anyone know what the new solution for this problem is?
