Hello,
I need a little help. Basically last night I started to get some Force Closes on twitter so I decided to restart my phone, but it then was in a constant loop, it would vibrate once then twice and repeat this. I tried taking out the battery for a while but it didn't work. So I decided to boot into recovery and make a backup. I then Wiped my phone and it restarted fine, so then I restored my backup..but it then went into the loop described above. Is there anyway to a.) Get my contacts/messages/photos etc off the backup or b.) successfully restore the backup?
If it matters I'm using Darky's 9.5 with Darkcore kernel 1.0
Thanks
Chalky

Since you made the nandroid backup after you had the fcs and other problems, the backup saved the problems as well as your other stuff.
Sounds like you would be best off trying to wipe your phone then reinstall apps from TB or the market. Also in future save your contacts to your sim or to google/exchange for easy restoration.
I think there are ways to dig around in a backup ans save specific files like pictures
Search for it on XDA.
Also, in future try wiping dalvik and cache and fixing permissions before going to factory reset.

Thanks for the reply.
I found that my pictures weren't actually deleted which was weird.
I did try to wipe the dalvik and cache but that didn't work. But didn't try fixing the permissions.
I think most of my contacts were synced with google mail, do I just have to sign into my gmail account and it will transfer the contacts to my phone?
Thanks again.

Yes that should restore them if you tell it to sync contacts when you sign in for the first time

what's nandroid?
What kind of restore did you do? Maybe it helps if you just restore data?
Contacts are restored even if you sign in to your Google account later ob, not just on first boot.

So, I used this guide to root and everything went fine no problem. I didn't see the clockwork recovery step and went straight to removing bloatware. Now when I try to backup current rom and goes to blue menu and I have to click reboot. I am a complete beginner and could it be messing up because I did not backup right away? SO, I would like to unroot and try again. I tried searching the forum to unroot and read many things from one click unroot to odin3. I am unsure of which method and if someone can tell me how to get it back to how it was. I just did a factory reset before rooting so I just want it back to that. Pictures, contacts, music is fine to stay as I did a manual backup via mass storage but how can I get the phone back to that state. Thanks and sorry for the long message.
ALSO, WHEN I FACTORY RESET earlier this day it already had quickoffice so, I know the phone did not reset to its original state, but the updated one that is fine. I just want it unrooted and back to how it would be with that factory reset and I will try to root and back up again later. Or if this is not an issue why is it going to the bluescreen after pressing backup current rom in clockwork
When in blue screen click reinstall packages, you will be brought back to the same screen, click reinstall packages again. Enjoy

so should I go to the bluescreen by holding volume + power or through the backup rom step?
thanks again
Did you hit the to option in rom manager to flash clockwork? If so open up rom manager, click backup, it will reboot to blue screen, reinstall packages twice, it will backup

ok so I just clicked backup current rom and it brought me to the blue screen. Instead of pressing reboot system now I should choose reinstall packages
OK I just clicked reinstall packages twice and it brought be to a black screen with green clockwork recovery text. After click reboot now.
DOES this mean that I have backed up the rom? is it stock? and if I had to use it would it have no att bloatware on it. I am a little confused. After seeing this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8507559&postcount=1
I figure I should try it this way. Will I still be able to get to the unrooted factory reset state? Even if it is fine now could you explain how I would do that?
When it went to the green clockwork screen did it run a backup for like 3 minutes? If not you are not backed up yet
Your backup its of your current state, no bloatware rooted, are you looking to find a way to get back to a out of box state?
Do you have a pc our a mac.

I have a PC. Earlier today I did a factory reset, all apps gone but photos, videos, etc still there. I restored my contacts from a different sim card. So, I figure while it is clean I should root. Now I would like to unroot and try again. I am trying to get it back to the state it was earlier not quite a out of box state but a factory reset state if possible, so all att apps, no messages, contacts, etc.
Hi guys. Yesterday night I was installing a few new apps but the seemed to be stuck installing forever. So I decided to reboot. However, after the reboot, it never goes past the second boot screen.
I know I can just flash to another rom but is there a way to save my data in the instance? I can still get into recovery mode if that helps. Thanks
I've read you can hook up to your pc and mount your sdcard from cwm. Never tried it but if it works you can save your data that way then maybe a master clear/cache or dalvik wipe will help.

You can mount USB in recovery and get all your stuff off of your SD that way. You can also nandroid your current ROM in CWM and re-flash it, then restore from backup. As far as saving texts and all that, Idk if you can, but I'm sure someone else does.
Also, you could try clearing dalvik, cache, and then running the kernel cleaning script. It's gotten me out of a few binds before. It might help you to where you wouldn't have to flash again.
I've recently flashed a new rom (rocket rom v10). Did a full wipe before that, so I used titanium backup to restore apps and data. But I recently found out that every time I reboot, I lose settings/data. For example, my user dictionary gets wiped. I also use power strip, and my configuration for that also disappears. I've tried reinstalling that app but that didn't fix it so I know its not that.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have you tried wiping cache as well? And starting from 0? And then move something and then restart again and then see if that fixed it. If it does then restore. And if it keeps resetting after that then something is corrupted.

Hi
im on custom jvu 2.3.6 and everything keeps closing
the dialer and messages especially
There is no force close at all.
It started about two weeks after i flashed it. It gradually gets worse and worse sometimes they stay open sometime not.
I re flashed and the problem went away but came back.
Anyone any ideas how to fix this.
How can i back my phone up so I've got all my messages and numbers.
Kies does not find the phone but oden does
thanks
I advice you to wipe cache and dalvik cache via recovery or delete data of the applications that cannot working fine via "Settings"
I've wiped cache and delvik that didn't work. Ill try delete data
Can't find the option to wipe data from each app
its mainly message and call app that's the problem
Go to "Settings">"Applications">"All"

You could try titanium backup or rom toolbox, long press the app and you will get a menu to clear whatever, but in titanium select the app, clear data,
Fixing the permissions via cwm might help also

Hi
I am using ICSSGS 4.2 with DEVIL 0.72
2 days ago my phone started to get crazy. the screen truns on and off for 6-10 times every 10 minutes my battery is getting low quickly because of this.
I remember it happened exactly the same when I was on stck rom but after I flashed ICS it stopped but unfortounately it came back again.
It's sound like an app that is causing this.it's a wakelock issue
Try a factory reset from recovery.
Then install your apps one by one to check witch one is causing this.
I fixed this by uninstalling the last 3 apps i installed. then i found out which app is causing this problem.
thx but!!
Factory reset erases everything in the phone including internal sd card right????????
can I do it by uninstalling all the apps?????? or do I need to do factory reset
thanks again
Plz tell us the name of these apps. May be its help us.
Sorry for my bad English.

uninstalling all the apps are the all most the same as WIPE your DATA
if you have root you can use titanium backup and backup all your apps and the data apps and restore them
good luck
Factory reset DO NOT WIPE sd content.neither does a hard reset.
Factory reset delete all apps and data.but system is still intact and phone boot normally
with a hard reset u wipe apps data and system,so u need to install new system from cwm or Odin
Apps and data can be backed up with titanium backup and restored also system apps.but it's not a good idea to restore system apps unless u know what u are doing.
problem solved looooool
Thx guys I started uninstalling my apps one by one and my phone stopped bieng crazy (thankx god) and I think the problem is one of these programs:
-officesuite
-documents to go
thanks again
Please flash an updated rom...
