[Q] HD7 Chevron or Walsh Jailbreak Question - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Fellow Chevron Jailbreakers,
I just updated to nodo from ruu tmous (thank you football) and found my hd7 unlocked (shows AT&T and tmobile in apn.
In any case I AM NOT jail broken aka chevron yet. Want to know what are you able to do and not do, specifically:
1. Will using chevron give option to send videos via mms or email?
2. Will using chevron give option to get better photo apps?
3. Will using Chevron give option to access marketplace?
4. I'm on nodo and according to some I don't need to downgrade below nodo to jailbreak?
Thank you for your help!

If you have updated to No Do, Chevron will not work.

If you have a pre No Do backup in Zune, you can. If not, download a pre No Do rom from XDA and flash it via the bootloader. To get into bootloader, hold down power button and volume down button at the same time until you see the multi colored screen, then flash the pre No Do rom using the rom update utility. Flashing this way does not require Zune software to be running. After you flash the pre No Do rom, you can then Chevron unlock your phone by following the unlocking threads. To make sure it stays unlocked, make sure to install the unlockit xap before upgrading to No Do.
I didn't install the unlockit xap before upgrading and my HD7 was relocked after I upgraded to No Do and I had to reflash again to Chevron unlock my phone

Thank you Trucker.
Ok my nodo update now i can't hear callers so I'm going back to PRE NODO.
I do have the RUU and thank you for the instructions.
After I go to PRE NODO, do you know where the updated Cheveron steps with the unlockit xap instructions are? There are so many threads and some of them are outdated (must have gold card, etc).
I am looking for the chevron instructions most recent one so i don't have to go trying to find a gold card
Thank you

[Q] Chevron Unlocking

Hi, I just recently bought a HD7 and I'm new to the Windows Phone OS.
I'm curious on "Chevron Unlocking" my HD7.
My current system is "7390"
Am I able to Chevron unlock my phone, or is it too late?
If I can still, could someone guide me the way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Hello, as of now, no unlocking method exists for 7390 firmware, but some people are working on it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078007
If you want your device unlocked, you need to flash a 7004/7008 rom, after which you can apply the chevron hack. You can find the rom in the hd7 rom development forum.
After you downgrade to 7004,you have to use the prevent unlock xap, after which you can update to 7392 in the unlocked state

[Q] Hacking HD7

Okay Im seriously in the brink of throwing my phone to the garbage. I really got hooked on HD7 cuz of the commercials. I had a blackberry and a my touch3g before HD7. There are tons of features missing like custom ringtones and I would at least would love to have that on my HD7. Don't get me wrong I sorta like my phone and all but key features are lacking. Is there some way to have them enabled? I have the NODO update released by Tmobile. Or a ROM I can install to my HD7?
Also any word on the Andoid OS development on HD7?
PS. Is there any tutorial on how to flash the ROM or hack?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wp7+ringtones+xda
NOTE: You need to Unlock your device...
... I have googled it before posting this thread but apparently chevron does not work with the NODO or am I wrong?
Yes chevron doesnt work with NODO!

I have hd7s from att what must do to be able to add side apps
Chevron your phone, apply the fix to stop it re-locking, then apply the NoDo update and it remains unlocked.

Exactly what i did. I had NoDo with locked phone, Flashed a 7008 Rom, locked the phone, prevented it from Relocking and then applied NoDo. My phone's now on NoDo and still unlocked.
Hum that i didnt know, thank you for the info ;-)

Videos on Customs Roms

im trying to figure out of to flash a new rom to my hd7. I see that ive got to downgrade my bootloader to 4 etc.. but i dont think ive got the backup of nodo. Also do i need a pin unlock or chevron unlock?
Downgrading spl to 4.x would be needed. Dangerous though. Follow directions on here to a "T" or else you could end up with an expensive paper weight.
After downgrading spl, Install HSPL, this puts a custom SPL allowing for custom roms. After HSPL is installed you could flash any rom you want. Pin or chevron unlock is not needed. All custom roms for hd7 come chevron and interop unlocked.

easiest and least complicated and least time consuming way is by flashing a Custom ROM.

[Q] [SOLVED] Downgrade SPL on TMOUS

Hi, I was just wondering if the method of flashing the Europe ROM to downgrade a 5.10.x.xx SPL could be safely used on a TMOUS phone without unlocking.
Thanks so much for the help, and by the way-I'm not a noob, and actually used to develop very popular Android ROMS. I just decided to move to XDA because of the lack of communication and inefficiency of almost all of the forums I've tried.

if you are referring to SLSPL by ansar, no.
if you have a NoDo restore from Zune, then try this here.
else, you might try this here.
That is what I was referring to, I thanked you, and thanks for the help! Does that mean it would be possible if I unlocked the phone first? I don't have a NODO backup and didn't have any success with the goldcard method, so I would rather just pay for an unlock or call T-Mobile (probably the latter) Thanks again.

to what unlock are you referring to..?
TMO can only SIM Unlock your device... that won't enable you to change Bootloader or install non-Marketplace apps.
I actually am referring to a SIM unlock. The thread tells about how two SIM unlocked TMOUS users were also able to use the same method. I was just asking if this SIM unlock was required, possibly because a Europe ROM would have to be flashed. Thanks again!

SIM Unlock isn't required to change ROM, only XSPL.
did i understand you correctly?
This is quoted from ansar's thread: "Update on 30.12.2011: Two TMOUS users did confirm that after SIM unlock it worked for TMOUS too!!"
The XSPL is what needed to be changed- downgraded from 5.10.x.xx
The method used to do this is flashing a NODO Europe rom with the lesser-versioned bootloader.
i haven't been following the development of SLSPL, but if that is the case, great.
though, i, myself, wouldn't attempt it.
best of luck to you.
Thanks for all the help

Interop Unlock

Okay, so I unlocked my HD7 with Chevron, then proceeded to interop unlock with this method: http://windows8gadgets.org/interop-unlock-guide-htc-phone-windows-mango And so, I was wondering what are the advantages of the Interop unlock? And I am on Mango if that matters.
allows installation of more than three non-Marketplace apps.
Is that all? Hmmm.... Where is the best place to get homebrew apps and such? I have googled but didn't go far... And I mainly did it for the HTC Sound Enhancer haha
in one of these sub-forums here.
read this here for better description on unlock types.

I was already updated, and I was going to do the NoDo thing, but I never quite understood that... and I couldn't find it in my backup folder either... So I didn't know what to do then I decided Chevron and came across that page to the interop.
so the xap from this page is ok for hd7 with mango 7740.16, right? that's all i needed to know...i go with chevron too and then this..thnxxx

Should be, I'm not really sure if I had the 7740 or 7720 mango, but let us know what happens
Oh yeah, and I warn against Advanced Configuration... Idk what happened or if I did it wrong.... But it eliminated my Dev unlock as well as Interop unlock.... And I couldn't re unlock it. So a restore was in order....
