[Q] Clockworkmod wont install - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed back to stock (apparently a new version) which is 2.2. My problem is that i cant install clockworkmod. Ive tried two different methods
1. Using rom manager, and just downloading it then flashing it.
2. Downloading the clockworkmod file, putting it in the root directory, and using adb to go into recovery and install it.
Both times i got this error
Finding update package..
Opening update package..
Verifying update package..
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
How can i fix this?
Thanks

Check out the third sticky in captivate general. The one about 3e signature verification. May be what you are looking for.

yeah, i just tried that. Didnt work. Im not sure if i did it right though...
I did..
1) copy the recovery file onto my phone
2) download terminal emulator
3) type su (to get it root access)
4) enter the command (nothing happened after i entered it... it just entered)
5) open file expert and put the file in the right directory
6) use adb to reboot into recovery
then i tried flawshing update.zip... same signature problem

go intro astro and rename it update.zip or just update.

If you unrooted it did you reroot it so you can flash a rom?
Also I know you said you redownloaded it, but did you check the MD5sum.
If you've unrooted then like supreme mentioned, it would be wise to re-root and try flashing again. Also are you running Cyanogen & JF's recovery image? Would make updating much easier if so.

2.2 install troubles

Hi,
Recently decided to upgrade to the 2.2 to see what its all about.
I have got my Nexus to the 27 build needed, but when I go to apply sdcard:update.zip I get the error:
"E:Can't open/cache/recovery/command"
And it aborts. Then I have to reboot and it goes back to 2.1. I definatly have the file as "update.zip" (i dont hide extensions)
Cheers,
Gradu
when you change the zip file name just type update and not update.zip, i had the same problem.
Thanks for the input, but no cigar.
I have noticed however, when I plug my nexus to the PC, its registered as F drive.... but my phone fault says that E: cant open /cache/recovery/command just as I get into the recovery mode as well.
There is no need to unroot. Get the pre root zip and flash like normal. 2.2 has new radio so will flash that first then the next reboot will be 2.2

[Q] problem with malez recovery

i am trying to install a custom rom on my Liquid acer S100
so i installed malez custom recovery 0.6.2 (the easy installer method)
i can boot to the recovery menu but everything i try to do fails
whenever i select anything it says aborted
flash aborted
wipe aborted
POWER OFF aborted
even Coppy recovery.log to sdcard aborted
please help my phone is useless that way
i am now using 2.2 rom which i flashed using a .bin flashtool. its even slower than my old 2.1 which i cant restore right now
btw, i rooted it visa superoneclick
and i think it was successful cuz i can use root explorer r/w mode
at the last step of installation (after OS boot)
i see this message at the adb log
rm failed -for read-only file system
is that whats causing the problem ??

[Q] signature fail for ics

i tried to install this on my milestone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445209&page=92
but it always says signature recognition failed or something, what should i do?
How are you installing?
Try downloading again.
i just changed the file name to update.zip and changed the original update.zip to something else, then i applied sd card: update.zip in recovery mode. is there a way to turn off signature verification?
This way won't work.
You should install a Recovery (if you don't have one). I suggest OpenRecovery.

Put the rom file(.zip) in sdcard\Openrecovery\updates\, then flash zip from sdcard inside recovery.
i got it! thanks guys.

Use a recovery that allows disabling signature verification, for example TWRP.
TWRP Manager 3.0.0 on playstore? I tried it, there are no option to disable signsture. Or I'm doing it wrong. If there's a specific link to download or use it, highly appreciated
Thanks

TWRP Manager only downloads the TWRP for your device (if any is available). You have to flash it either manually by using ADB or use an app like ROM Installer or Flashify. Best way is via ADB. If you don't know how to do this, search for "your device name TWRP ADB flash"
