I recently sent a support request to the developer of the Soothr app as I was having an issue with the in-app volume controls, because they don't actually effect the volume level, and this seems to happen in other apps too, like Project Sunburst.
You can mute sounds in-app, but not adjust the volume it seems.
The developer stated that this is an issue isolated to the HD7 and the Arrive, and the only other mention I found on the interwebs was that it's related to the audio driver.
Thanks for you mail. Sorry to hear you are experiencing the below described bug.
Unfortunately, this is a bug on the HTC HD7 and HTC Arrive phones and is not something that I as the developer can fix. We are going to have to wait for Microsoft/Htc to provide a fix for this.
I assume you have updated your phone to the latest OS update from Microsoft and are still having the issue? If so, it means it wasn't fixed in their latest release, so I will try and report the issue again (althought hundreds of developers have already reported it).

Can anyone confirm this issue, and does anyone know of a fix or somewhere where this has been reported/discussed already?
Thanks!
P.S - I personally felt this was dev related, as it's hardware/bugs and could possibly be hotfixed, but if not, please feel free to move it to general.
Update: Searched through the AppHub forums, and apparently this is a widely documented problem, with many developers reporting the issue to HTC, who still haven't fix it for whatever reason

I am experiencing very erratic behavior with my call recording feature on my Touch Pro. I have tried many different roms, and even a few different radios. What happens is sometimes it records the other party very clearly for the entire call. Other times during the call the other party goes back and forth from sounding choppy to clear. For the life of me I cannot figure out what is going on. I've read others who use the GSM version of this phone who were plagued by this problem claim that it goes away with their new official rom upgrade, but of course, that won't work since I'm CDMA, on USCC. Another thing is I've not seen anyone report the recording being back and forth from choppy/stuttering/distorted to clear. So ... I wonder how many others have had this same experience I am having. I suspect this could be related to something very low level if since I tried different ROMs and that didn't solve it and others have reported this being fixed with an OFFICIAL ROM upgrade, which upgrades the radio, OS, ect., everything, then maybe there is no setting I can change to fix this? If anyone has any suggestions or direct solutions I would be very eager to try them. I know this is a very esoteric issue and probably won't get many responses however.
I have included a zip file of a recording I did which demonstrates the issue I've been experiencing. For anyone brave enough to really try to offer me a suggestion or solution, thank you!

Still no ideas? I've flashed MULTIPLE ROMS and nothing seems to fix this, yet others have seemed to fix this by ROM flashing.. what is the CAUSE of this issue????
Ive installed the latest cyanogen mod rom and i have been using it for a while. There are a few bugs i have noticed through my use of the phone and they are kinda getting annoying.
First of all i have noticed randomly while i am listening to music the music app that came with cyanogen will freeze up and then it will start again but after it does that there is no sound. And when i force close the application, i use the controls on the side of the phone to change the volume and it will only change the media volume not the ringer volume. to fix this when it happens i have been having to restart the phone and go on from there.
Another bug i have been noticing is when i turn the phone to vibrate mode using the controls on the left of the phone when i recieve a text i do not get a notification. I would excpect that it would vibrate as well.
Another one is that when i am listening to music and i recieve a text it will turn off the sound similar to the first bug i talked about. It says it is still playing but there is no sound coming from it. To fix it i have been having to restart the phone.
To listen to my music with my earphones i have an adapter and some times when i am using that the phone will go into a reboot loop until i take out the adapter and then once the phone is back up plug the adapter back in.
These are all quite annoying and i would like to see if you guys have any input on the matter. Thank you
I don't think that any of these are platform bugs, but rather are cyanogen bugs. I suggest you post bug reports to cyanogen's bug tracker.

Well i thought about that as well but i looked at the rules for the bug tracker and i am currently in the process of making more accurate bug reports for the bug tracker. I came here to see if i could get any quick fixes or to ask if these are common things or i may just have to format my phone and reinstall cyanogen. So yeah i hope i can get some feedback from other users. I may just have to format as i said but i hope that there could be something else i could do. dont want to just go to all that trouble to not get it fixed.
edit: I looked further into the bug tracker for cyanogen and i dont have the required materials to make a report as i dont have a log of the issue. its just something that tends to happen.
Its happening alot today and well yeah its getting really bad, i dont think there is anything wrong with my phone. So i think i am just going to format and reinstall a new rom. idk if i will stay cyanogen or not. anyone have any recomendations for the rom i should install?
Super D is pretty awesome. It's an improvement on the Cyan roms. So you get Cyan plus some extras.
Could i get a link to the correct version i should use?
Yep here is the link for Super D
thank you installed it and i am no longer having any issues. Wonderful
I've tried searching other threads/posts but I don't see any solutions at all. I want to first rule out the problem being with the software before I send my Nexus One to a mobile phone technician for hardware repair.
Here's the situation. I got my Nexus One used, at very cheap price but with slight defect that the seller kindly informed me about. The brightness control is not working. He said that it started happening after installing CyanogenMod7 from stock rom.
I still purchased it from him and now it's my problem. I tried looking for solutions. Here's what I did so far:
reset the phone, including formatting the sdcard
installing 3rd party brightness controllers
reinstalling CyanogenMod7 and even used CM6, I've also used nightly and RC CM7
trying other roms (those that do not require modifying hboot [blackrose])
Having said the last item, that is something I have yet to try and really giving it a good thought before finally trying because of some cautions regarding Nexus One having SLCD as indicated by MICROP 0c15.
One thing to consider as well, whenever I run the stock clock app and press the brightness icon, the backlight does get dim so I'm thinking that the brightness can still be controlled.
Any ideas, guys?
Btw, as you can see, this is my first post. Apparently, I cannot find the solution myself so I had to ask.
Thank you in advance.
I have the same issue on both stock rom and the great CM7, Im hoping there is a fix for this.
It seems that only very few experienced this problem and the fact that there aren't any helpful reply means that there is no solution for this issue yet.
I really don't want to believe that this is a hardware failure, though.

try screen filter app from play store ..
I've tried using screen filter app and it was able to control the brightness but only to lower it.
Compared to other android phones, the brightness on my nexus one is definitely not on it's highest setting even if the screen filter app says it's on 100%.
It's like it's on 50% brightness.
Could the hboot have something to with this? I'm using 0.35.0017.
Having SLCD on it prevents me from fooling around with hboot flashing.
Any other ideas, guys?
Same problem
i on slim rom 4.3.1 on my LG P990, before the hard reset evrything was fine..n after that brightness controll dailed..
i guess ill have to Hard Reset again
but i dont wnat to..
so i guess lets just stick with it..
Hi,
as I don't have enough posts yet I cannot post directly in the development thread.
I just flashed (and rebootet) the inofficial CM9 by nunogil. When I plug in my headset, its speakers and microphone are working, however, the button with which I could start/stop music and start/end calls are not. I experienced the same problem with FOP's Nightly 6a 2 weeks ago due to which I flashed my stock Froyo back.
In my searches I came accross some posts for CM7, but not really useful. Is this a known problem in CM9 or just with the OB?
Cheers,
Reklov
It has a audio bug, if u had read the post properly
Same with the CM10 rom from chenleicpp!
hopefully these two developers can fix it quickly

As I read the (whole) thread again, there was no mentioning any audio problems, so I assume you mean the official CM9 post. Yes, I didn't read that, sorry. But so the problem is known and hopefully fixed in the near future. Alas, I cannot use my phone with this bug
Cheers,

I know this bug is common on jb devices, but I didn't have it until one week or so. I tried formating my SD, etc, but it sometimes appear sometimes not. There is any fix for this that can be applied on our phone? Anybody had encountered this problem?
PS:I posted this on DEV section because I think is very important and urgent.
PS2:In the screenshots the applications didn't drain my battery, I made them just to show you what apps I'm talking about.
