Here's a new interface from the Iida phone : http://iida.jp/english/products/infobar/interface/
It looks great, very WP7 like.
Is there a dump of Iida online? maybe someone could extract the launcher out of it. Based of lifehackers translation, the Iida is running gingerbread, so it may be possible to port the launcher to our SGS
Second that, hope it can be ported and translated to SGS
http://iida.jp/english/products/infobar/
here is the english version of the site, sans the video. the phone's name is INFOBAR A01. i haven't been able to find a rom or dump online yet.
You guys think I'll be able to run a rom of that on a 600mhz processor phone?
This looks awesome, I can't wait for it to be released. Hopefully we can get a ROM for it
demo/review of the actual product/UI interesting...
check it out

i have the phone coming in a few days, can someone help me get the system files off it, so you guys can dev it up for use on htc evo 3d?
thanks....

I've made the launcher run on galaxySL very easily.

And here are two themes I made for the launcher:

You'll need root to push the files to /system/app/

I used root explorer to move the apk files, but it didn't do anything. (I wasn't sure if I had to install them, but I couldn't either way.)
Try using adb to push the apks in system/app, if anything goes wrong adb will show why.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just manually copied them and it's working. The launcher is quite disappointing though :\

Ok so I downloaded the new droid x keyboard but it says install failed anybody know why
might be because of the phones screen resolution

Ya, i tried same. I pretty much already knew it wasnt going to work but gave it a shot as well. Just have to wait for someone to hack it up for our screen res and we should be good to go. I am just taking a shot in the dark and thinking that is the only reason why it wont work and could be wrong.
Mine installed just fine. I just cant get the keyboard to pull up
The Eris is mdpi where as the Droid is hdpi its a resolution thing...even if you got it to load the keys would be to big for your screen much like when the HTCIME first came out and everyone was jumping on the hi res version...

someone may port it...they're several pngs that have to be resized and edited etc porting any apk and or making a theme is a time intensive task so maybe if a themer or a dev feels like jumping on it...it may happen... if you want to tackle it yourself get you a trial copy of winRAR or another file reader and open a mdpi and the hdpi files and compare the res/drawables....thats a place to start I think.

It also has the resolution for each key specified in the decompiled .smali files inside classes.dex, so I think it's a big job to convert it. It's definitely beyond my ability. You'd need to use a tool like APK Manager 4.4 (search XDA for it) or manually decompile it with baksmali.
EDIT: I was wrong, the resolution in the .smali files is relative, so that's not stopping it from working.

Nope it wants to replace the latinime app thats why it wont install
Some Hero folks got it working as-is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710522#post6949662
It sounds like it only works with Vanilla-based ROMs since they have LatinIME in them (Android keyboard), and you have to push it to /system/app/LatinIME.apk (overwriting the Android keyboard) instead of installing it as a user app.

Most likely you can use Root Explorer or a similar app to move it into /system/app while the phone is on, then make sure you check its permissions (should be rw-r--r--), and then reboot for the change to take effect. Again, I haven't gotten this to work for me, but I'm on a Sense-based ROM. The successes reported were on Heros with their "darchdroid" ROM.
I have an idea for getting this to work with Sense, and I'm testing my theory right now. My theory is that we're missing its dependencies (in /system/lib), so I'm going to just flash the "Android Keyboard for Sense" from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5874235#post5874235
And then flash the new Droid X keyboard on top of that. Maybe that'll work.
UPDATE: YES! It works! Hang on, I'll post an update.zip to take care of installing it...
Can you post the flashable droid x keyboard for those on froyo or vanilla roms

It should already work on Vanilla ROMs. Just install the APK on the first page of this thread. The pre-requisite is that you have to have the Android stock keyboard (com.google.inputmethod.latin) installed, which you do.
The tricky part is a Sense ROM, because it doesn't have the Android keyboard.
Attached is a flashable ZIP to install the Droid X Multi-Touch Keyboard onto a Sense-based ROM (or any ROM without the Android stock keyboard).
Credit to itmustbejj for original keyboard.
so I got it to install but I just get it force closing every three seconds

I'm also not a fan of the HTC keyboard... Nevertheless I'm a huge fan of this modded HTC keyboard: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/get-the-htc-typing-experience-on-your-g2/
Check it out... The keyboard is *highly* customizable. You can even set custom typing sounds without having full root. Great! because this means we now can have the nice tapping sound of the Windows Phone 7 keyboard on our Désiré HD.

Here you go. I got it from a WP7 dump (the wav is the original, the ogg file is compiled by me). Strangly there's just one sound.. I guess they are modifying this base sample with a algoritm. Don't see how else they can do this: http://blog.seattlepi.com/microsoft/archives/218282.asp
BTW Sounds on the keyboard I refered to are not working on the Desire HD . The developer was so kind to add the source code of the keyboard. I'll see if I can make the sounds work on the DHD
Could you try install this apk and tell me if it works?
note, you'll have to enable android keyboard in the keyboard settings.

yeah it is. you'll need a file explorer on your phone. Get ASTRO from the market. Drop the apk on your SD card, or download directly if you're viewing this from your phone. Then from Astro just locate the apk and launch!
thanks very much

regular install won't work because of a library that google keyboards are depending on. The only way to get this to work is to copy it to your system/app folder. (Of course you need a full root to do that)

what (also) might work is
a) to install the froyo keyboard the usual way, and
b) to copy the library file libjni_latinime.so (a native c library file that will generate suggestions from a dictionary - faster than a java procedure) to the /system/lib dir. (Attached the library file to this post)
(The FC with the regular installation is caused by the fact that the keyboard can't load the library file. It looks for a native procedure but can't find it)
EDIT: if the attached library file doesn't work, you can also try the one that comes with the apk package (rename x.apk to x.zip and unzip it. In the lib directory you will find the library)
I love ebuddy on android, it's better than the official chinese MSN I posted a few weeks ago but I am sick of silver, white and orange. I am unfamiliar with how to get the apk files from apps installed from the android market.
Could someone, anyone please provide me with the apk file for ebuddy 1.9.1 (the most recent) so I can do some colour variations?
Cheers.

www.developer.android.com
Install the Android SDK, open Command Prompt and write:
Code:
adb devices
adb pull /data/app app
Or if you know the .apk name
Code:
adb pull /data/app/apkname.apk
That will create a new folder called app in your /tools folder with all your apps.
Ah cheers man, done it
will post some colour variations asap.

If you're just changing pngs, try to just extract the apk then zip it when changed. Ie. Don't decompile it
Do this using apkmanager

I decompiled a fresh version of ebuddy, compiled back and installed, no probs.
But, for exchanging some png´s only, that´s what I do:
- take a fresh original version (v1.9.1 attached)
- open com.ebuddy.android-1.apk with 7-Zip
- copy/paste new png´s
- close file
- sign
- install

I haven't tried editing sense themes since.. FOREVER ago, since things like the htc hero / sapphire / dream "were in"
What I did back then was open up the rom file you download, and in it you'll see a bunch of stuff and go into system\app\ and modify to your liking!
I just took a quick look at a sense rom and it appears that "rosie.apk" is still there. IF things haven't changed as much.. that Should be your main launcher.
So what youcould do is open that via winrar and extract images and stuff out.. then edit it!
Other things like the status bar, should be in framework-res.apk (which should be in framework instead of /apps/)
I've only modded my themes using roms from aosp or vanilla so I don't nkow sense too well.. However this should give you a basic understanding! and the more you wanna edit, the more .apk files you wanna open! good luck
On a similar note, I am trying to modify android with customised sounds (lock/unlock/key press etc) and having some issues.
I have directly tried to place the .ogg files into the following path within android itself using droid explorer but that didnt seem to work.
The path i have been placing it is within the following:
...\system\media\audio\ui
Has anyone managed to successfully do this either with a working rom or pre flashing, in which case could give me some pointers on how to do this?
Thanks
am using go desktop...
