Hello everybody!
Can I trouble someone upload or point me to where I can download the latest ClockworkMod Recovery update.zip file for the Samsung Captivate?
Thanks!
You can download ROM Manager from the market. It will have different versions that you can use.

Yeah. I"m trying to avoid ROM Manager.
Try installing sgs tools then. There is a way with that to get it.

Thanks mate! Exactly what I needed!
i was looking for this too! thanks!!!!!
Can some one post update.zip for CWM3?
I would also like CWM3. ROM Manager is recognizing my Captivate only as an i9000. Thanks!

Is there any site or thread that has all/most CWMs in update.zip form, shows their versions, and describes them?
what is the safe method of flashing a rom? Installing CWM from update.zip of flashing a rom using CWM flashed through ODIN?

Oh boy, you have opened a never ending discussion now!
After you have done flashing for a while, the answer will be "whatever way you like best." For a very first timer, I would suggest the AIO tool at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944418
Personally, I am generally upgrading within a single ROM and I like to move it onto the sdcard and use CWM red recovery (3-button entry or from 'boot to recovery' in power-down menu now on my phone) and flash ROM from that, using the 'install zip from sdcard' option, or however it is worded.
Still looking for an answer to
"Is there any site or thread that has all/most CWMs in update.zip form, shows their versions, and describes them?"

The ROM manager and the CWM coming with it, 2.5.x doesn't work on stock Froyo.
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone with the latest version of CWM (I believe it's a 3.0 version) wouldn't mind posting their update.zip?
ROM Manager doesn't work properly for me. Plus, I don't like using it. At all.
Thanks!

I was hoping this would work for me. Unfortunately it didn't. I am running 2.2 on my Captivate. I need to root it...does anyone know where to find an updated update file for 2.2?
When i had 2.2 froyo I just flashed DG's odin file to revert back to a rooted stock froyo. This worked for me I would upload the file but I no longer have it. sorry
You can use the one click root and if clockwork mod is not working on your stock 2.2 just use odin to flash the speed mod kernel it comes with clockwork and root access so you can use room manager etc.

It was quick and easy to run it again...if you've already done it the first time it's just going to update to the newest recovery version...about 5 minutes of your time
well we've all used it, its the only way right now to get roms and easily get into adb in recovery, its very easy to do
just reflashed the updated version and did fine
Just did it... im pretty familiar with android but not using a tool to flash recovery. Tried a couple of different ROMs but waiting for something that is actually better than my senseUI people complain but its better tan stock. Just makes for longer update waits. This is simply a Flashable ZIP I made out of eugene373's Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.tar.md5 for those of you that don't feel safe using / can't use Odin.

Install Astro File Manager. Then open it, hit Menu, hit Preferences, and Enable Browser Downloads.
After running Logcat I noticed that this was missing a file. /system/etc/dbus.conf
I don't know what it does, but Logcat complained about it often. I think this may cause 'battery life' to not be as well, but it didn't seem to have any issues. I am uploading another new one right now that has this file. It didn't get pulled when I pulled the system so I copied over the one from Obsidian and the Logcat stopped complaining about it.
I attached dbus.zip for those of you that don't want to redownload the ROM and want to 'fix' this. Just unzip it and put dbus.conf in /system/etc via adb push or root explorer.
If you aren't sure if you need it, check your /system/etc folder in root explorer and see if dbus.conf is there. If it isn't, add it. I didn't notice any issues other than logcat complaining with this file's absence.
is it deodexed?

Hi,
Please find port of Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.0.2.7 for GT-P6800.
(this is not a kernel replacement- just a cwm recovery image)
This is ported from the garyd9 6210 cwm recovery so please go thank him. (in 7.0+ forums)
Modified to work on 6800.
Incorporates garyd9 patches for sd card handling.
also thanks to davep - for advice and bug fixing
based on stock firmware.
Working fine.
Requirements: you need to be rooted.

cause cyanogenmod is the best ROM out there?
it's built from source, generic to over 90 devices, and has by far the best community behind it?

CM9 = Fully Open Source developed and supported by a large community who care mostly about the end user experience.
Manufacturer ROM = Partly closed source developed by a company who care mostly about the volume of devices they ship.
It's not if but when.

Why all the spam?
- CF ROOT
- CM7 or straight CM9 will be enough too imho!
I prefer going to CM9 through CM7. Giving me less problems.
So CF ROOT - just pick a CM7 nightly here http ://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd - a CM9/ICS ROM of choice and let's go!

so I flashed another rom [ICS ROM]Tiramisu+ I.C.E.A.G.E. V.1.9.6 I'M DIFFERENT!

I have just gotten a Samsung galaxy mini. I rooted it and unlocked it okay.
But then I wanted to flash rom and stuff, so I downloaded Odin, and flashed cwm, but... When Odin says pass, it press home + power and the Samsung screen flashed twice and sticks.
But the strangest thing is that it can still boot into android sometimes.

before flashing rom or CWM you will need to upgrade to gingerbread either through odin or Kies
and then flash cwm and after that flash rom with cwm
