i bought a tmo galaxy tab, and only came with the data cable, so i've been charing it using it and it takes like 10 hours to fully charge, no matter where i plug it, i plug it to my computer and i plug it the wii usb ports or tv usb ports, but still takes like 10 hours, it makes me crazy.. so does that mean i'm forced to buy the original charger? because when i click in "settings, about tab" and says "battery status: NOT CHARGING"
does this happen to the everybody? if i buy the original charger will that fix the problem?
i'm looking to buy this one http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Detachable-Charger-ETA-P10JBEGSTA/dp/B004CGHDEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305761300&sr=8-1
and why is so F*cking expenssive ='S!!

I (and a few other Tab owners) bought this(or similar) adapter which lets you charge the Tab much quicker (I find it almost as quick as the wall charger). The only downside is whilst charging , you cant use it as a data cable. to do so, you much remove the adapter.

how long will it take with the wall charger? 10min ?
An ipad charger will work. Plugging into tv usb ports or wii usb ports or computers won't work because they don't output enough to charge the tab.
It will still take several hours to charge though. It is a large battery to charge.
i tried using the apple charger
and did not work either, takes 10 hrs too
seems like samsung pulled the fast one, the same sh*t with the desk docking station, they want you to buy those expensive accesories and strip you to nothing :l !!

Anyone running 2 batteries and wanting to charge them outside the Streak might want to look at one of these by Solar Technology International.
It's called a Camcaddy

Can you post a pic without the battery, mainly to see the pins if they are moveable, and also where does it plug into? USB? or goes straight to mains?
thanks
I have the Freeloader pro2 package with the cam caddy, niether charges my streak, I was gutted when I got my streak. Had been usind the charger for my camera battery & touch hd while out on treks but the streak won't take charge from it and the battery can't be charged from the cam caddy, neither can my sony nex5 camera battery, another £100's worth of beaut kit rendered useless!

I seem to remember the Freeloader Pro kit is about £60 with the Camcaddy. Don't bother with the normal Freeloader, it won't charge the Streak.
The pins slide and can charge many things. I use it with the official Dell charger and it gets the battery up to about 95% - for some reason it stops just short of 100%. It can also charge from the Freeloader but I only get about 60% from a full charge.
The Freeloader PRO needs a modification to charge the streak - if you feel confident, open it up, and then solder together the centre two pins on the USB socket, otherwise the Streak won't see it as a charger (this mod is required in general with all USB chargers)
I recently got a Lenmar USB clip - this also works with the Freeloader and is awesome and tiny!
I got one of these and it works pretty well.
£6.99 plus £1.39 shipping. Just over a week to get from Hong Kong, its a USB type charger with an indicated 5v output, includes a UK mains USB plug also rated at 5v and a sync/charge cable similar to the Samsung one.
Slightest criticism would be the plug that goes into the tab is slightly loose compared to the original, otherwise very good quality.

They will be very unlikely to be 2100mah , more likely 500-800mah , you cannot believe specifications labels from hong kong/china , The SGTAB needs a lot of power to charge correctly, I would be very weary of using them at all!

Meh, my eBay car charger works just fine.
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
Can you post a link to that charger? I've tried both the Duragadget and Scosche "2A" car chargers, and neither one fast-charges the Tab. The only thing that's worked for me is getting a 12V inverter and plugging the standard wall-wart into it.
Well, i had this experienced with my blackberry handheld. Using the 3rd party aka non genuine car charger and find out the IC charging it wont worked so it must be replaced with the new one.
could be the voltage standard is different with the genuine one...u might wanna considered again to using the non genuine part for an often usage might damage the handheld

Tesco have them for a couple of quid. They're original Samsung. That, along with all their other accesories are drasticaly reduced to clear. HDMI doc is 9.97, cases are a fiver for the pouch or nine quid for the case and stand.

Congrats and I believe you now that it only works well with the heavy duty stock charging cable. I believe now that cable makes a big difference. I am testing a few "charge only" cable with various chargers, car and AC chargers. Results varies and choice of cable is a big factor.

Sorry..off topic..
where did you get those icons?
Which USB cable did you use? a regular one, or one that has the 2nd and 3rd pins/wires shorted?
Car charger with long cable
Does anyone know if there is a car charger out there for the Galaxy Note 2 that is extra long, (around 10")?

Is there a work around for the phone not recognizing a non-OEM charger and charging slowly? There HAS to be a way around this! My G2 is currently sitting at 23% and it says that it will take 9 hours to charge till full!?!?! Even with a generic charger there is no way it should take 9 hours to add 77% to my battery. Any suggestions from anyone, other than buying the OEM charger? I know they're only $10 on eBay but if I could buy one I would have.

What cable are you using? Cheap USB cable have small gauge wires that cannot carry the current this phone draws and will create a large voltage drop which eventually terminates or slows the charging process.
I have a cheap 1A knockoff car charger and use a very short USB cable (1ft) and my phone charges almost as fast as at home.
T
EDIT: Also check the USB port in the phone - if there is lots of lint in there, it prevents the connector from seating and making good contact.
The USB port is fine but I'm using a 2.1amp plug that supports quick charging and a regular 6ft microUSB cable. Still getting the "charging slowly" message.

Must have been a problem with CM13 or something. After restoring my stock backup I no longer get the "charging slowly" message and the phone definitely charges fast now.
I would try charging while completely shut down.
Yes its an issue with the rom you are using. I would suggest you use stock lollipop rom with dorimanx kernel to get the most outta your device.
Hi. My phone is on stock MIUI 12.0.1. It is not rooted nor unblocked.
The phone came with a regular (5V×2A=10W) charger that works fine. I tried to charge it with with two different Samsung chargers (9V x 1.67A = 15W) and it does detect that it is fast charger yet the battery level keeps dropping.
Do I need a 18W charger? Do you think it is a bug/hardware problem? It is still under warranty.
Thanks!

Install this and screenshot the screen to me, while the phone is plugged in.
First picture is with the regular 10W xiaomi charger and second with the 15W Samsung one. Sorry about the spanish words but you can see the voltage and current. Both Samsung chargers show about the same and they both work fine with their phones. Samsung chargers say "adaptive fast charging"

May not be compatible fast charging technologies.
Yeah... I've been doing some more research and that is what I'm thinking too... The phone is supposedly compatible with "qualcomm quick charge 3.0" and just maybe it is not compatible with Samsung chargers. What I did not expect was for the phone to actually discharge while plugged in. I will try to test a different charger and report back but being COVID times and everyhting it may take a while. Thanks to both of you!

Best bet is to use a OEM charger and cable.
I have 2 sets for my Samsung... makes troubleshooting easier.
