[Q] Market/ apps issue evolving to a crisis - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello iam having Small problem and it is now big enough to make my android life like hell , at first I didn't have the market installed, I fix it by setting the phone region to international and I live in egypt
the problem is that I can't view paid apps neither download or find them using other aspps like app brain , what made this even worse is that I can't view most of the free apps aswell ! I need alot of apps and games my android is just boring like hell
What can I do?? Thx in advance

This is because Android Paid Applications are not available all over the world. (Just in a few countries.) Also some free apps are limited to download only in some certain contries. That's why they are not showing in your region in the android market.

I know that they are not available :s what can I do to enable them iam sure there is some kind of crack for it

Android Market alternatives for those with no access to Market

It's apparent some carriers are not supporting the Android Market.
For those that don't have access to the Market and want access to apps, have you tried getting SAM (app store) client for your G1 from SlideME.org?
http:/slideme.org/sam2.apk
Anyone in the world can use SAM to safely buy and download with no limitations and without entering any sensitive info such as credit card details from your phone.
The only thing is that you will not see as many apps as you would on the Market, but with users help & input one day developers will realize that stocking Android Market alone does not do any good for marketing their apps to the international communities. Not to mention that the rest of the world will be hesitant to provide even their shopping habits to google.
So, you could look for apps on SlideME or Cyrket that has all the apps on Market and contact the developer and ask them to get their act together to stock other stores such as SlideME.org for this exact reason. Not everyone has access to the Android Market!!!
Follow apps from http://twitter.com/slideme if you like.
Here is an earlier announcement from SlideME team: http://www.prweb.com/releases/android/slideme/prweb2035414.htm
I am in India. and i was missing buying the apps..but not anymore..There aren't as many apps as on the market but then its just the begining...
thank you.
do we get automatic upgrades etc from you like the market provides- i looked at using slideme but wasnt sure how you would get the free upgrades for apps u have already paid for...i am in australia.
I haven't heard promising things about SlideMe's DRM solution, which appears to constantly contact the Slideme store when normal apps downloaded from Slideme are running, and not just the SlideMe market.
It looks good, and will probably be accepting Paypal. Nice alternative!
So what are developers to do? Well, recently I bashed on the SlideLOCK in a previous post… Though - the more I looked at it, this seems like the best option for developers to protect their applications. Though, hopefully google will remedy this solution and fast. Until then though, strike-one google market.

The last time I used Slideme it never showed updated or new apps so I had no idea when to look. Has this since been changed?
yeah- i want to know as well if you get automatic updates for each program bought?
We do updates for any downloaded apps. Maybe you have tried an old version of SAM.

Can't find some apps in the Market

I've read about some interesting apps, but I can't find them in the Android Market for some reason. A few people claim that these applications are available in the Market, but they just don't show up for me.
Some examples:
- ShareYourBoard
- BioWallet
- Pandora
- iSkoot
- beebPlayer
- Bluex
- Ecorio
- cab4me
- DoggCatcher
I've even tried to scan some QR codes in AndroLib.com, but I get an error saying that "There are no matches in Android Market for the search."
Does anyone know why that happens? I should mention that I live in Brazil (not sure this makes a difference) and that I use MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.9. Besides, the option "Unknown sources" is checked in my phone.
Thanks for the help,
Tiago
are the apps officially available in your country? did you try market enabler?
Some apps are not supported in all countries.
Example: BeebPlayer (stream bbc shows) is only available in the UK.
I Downloaded Beebplayer from an apps pack, it told me it was only available for people inside the UK.
Also if you search for some apps, like Beebplayer the marketplace app shows something like "1 result found" but shows nothing except for the usual "did you type the name correctly blabla."
Hope this helps,, I experienced the same thing, it gets really annoying but nothing you can do. maybe work with a proxy or something but since I'm not a developer I can't help you with that.

DaanJordaan
Have you applied the MR update? This update has caused some apps to not show up in the market.
I used Market Enabler and it worked only 1 time. When I rebooted my phone then I had to reapply the "patch" from Market Enablen and when I got to the market nothing worked like it should.
I mean that Market Enabler didn't worked the second time I tried to fake my market.
Yeah, us Sprint folks are totally ****ed. THe new update, as awesome as it is, makes it so we can't see stuff like twidroid pro.

you are not alone
kendong2,
Market Enabler helped a lot! Using the setting for T-Mobile, I was able to find the following apps: Pandora, iSkoot, Bluex, cab4me and DoggCatcher. Pandora doesn't work in Brazil, but that's a different problem. Restarting the phone restores the old settings, but I can always use Market Enabler again.
However, I still can't find ShareYourBoard, BioWallet, beebPlayer, Ecorio and AndNav2. According to DaanJordaan, beebPlayer will not work in Brazil, but I'd still like to install the other apps. Has anyone managed to install these apps? Any tips?
I'm not sure I have the MR update. As I said, I installed MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.9 and didn't apply any other updates after that.
Thanks a lot,
Tiago

Has anyone found a solution to this yet?
The market is impressive but I would ( I know I'm not alone here ) love to have access the whole market.
I have a rooted sprint hero, stock ROM with the update.
Same issue here too.
Any of the big name stuff like shopsavvey, compare everywhere, facebook amazon and the rest is not showing.
Hello i have the same problem with modaco 3.0. "MR" update is that short for modaco ROM ? And people using market enabler should remember to clear market cache under settings - applications - market

[Q] New user here.. Need help!

i'm new to android and i've been waiting this since CES n now i've got it in Singapore!
However, when I switched on my 2X i found there's no any preloaded games that mentioned in the gsmarena review, the spiderman and shrek kart, tegra zone as well. The set comes with a HDMI cable too.
Anyway, that doesnt matter a lot but I dont understand why i can't buy paid apps? and market not even show those paid apps too.
ROM and stuff i'm learning now too but if there's anyone who kind enough u can simply post here, starting from the basics =D
much appreciated!
go to the appdrawer, then press on the icon named "preinstalled apps" and a list of apps will appear, including the games you mention - click on the ones you want to have installed. The apps are delivered as installation packages on the phone, but not preinstalled - LG leave it up to you to deside which of these you want to install.
erm. I cant see any appdrawer? but i clicked on the application thr's folder called preloaded apps but only 4 useless apps inside, like the compass apps etc.
and i just realise my location are not support paid apps. so if i root my hp will i able to purchase paid apps?

[Q] Market problem - some apps are labeled 'incompatible' with gt-i9000

Hey, everyone,
there is a thing on market that keeps bugging me (and I couldn't find an exact answer all over the net, let alone xda): some free apps (typically high-end games) do not appear in the market app, and on the web-market they are labelled 'incompatible' with my Galaxy S. Some examples are: Angry Bots Demo, Doctor Who: Mazes of Time, Demolition Master 3d Free, etc.
I installed the apk's from other sources and they work just fine (maybe not Demolition Master, that runs with good speed, but crashes pretty often).
I have found someone on a forum saying that since the 2.2 update the hardware of the i9000 somehow registers as unknown in the Market, thus certain apps are marked incompatible.
Is there a definite explanation for this? Do everyone get this problem, or is it just me?
Is there a way around it (except for getting the apps from other sources)?
I'm running stock 2.2.1 with Speedmod kernel.
Thanks!
Ask the developers, maybe they don't know and they're the only ones who could do something about it. They can't test it on every device out there.
Go to market app on the phone ,in settings select all applications

No, I have same problem with my SGS. I have write Google more time with region problem (Croatia,Serbia, now i see Hungary) on SGS Android Market. Unfortunately, Google solving a single on single applications at a same time, and it is very slow...And always write Google to me: "Be patient, we solving problem as soon as possible"
Temporary solution is emulation of other networks (most USA network provider) with Market Acess apk or Market Enabler, and than go all right.
Regards
Thanks!
So it's depending on the country? hmm. That explains why it's not a big issue.
I have been writing to developers but got no reply so far.
EDIT: Market Enabler didn't seem to help (I tried Americal T-mobile, but will try other providers, too).
why don't you try what I told you you to do earlier?

help plzz sbs switcher

so ive been playing with google carboard and i like it and all but there are only so many vr compatible apps and the only know sbs switcher for all apps is this app
SBS AUTOMATIC SWITCHER ON THE PLAY STORE (cant post links cause of ten post rq crap =p )
i have tried a bunch of roms and cannot get it to work right but every time it always says installed but not loaded , it never does how many times i try it =/
the main reason i would like it / help to make it run , is cause this would be perfect for the note 4 on remote play =D
yes of course there would be no head tracking but that matters not , it would still be cool and not just this app but if it works like its supposed to then many apps would be cool
id even donate if someone can find out why this is not running at all =/
or even make a better app \o/
