I use MyPhoneExplorer to sync my Outlook calendar with my android phone, but it doesn't seem to work with the NC. Has anyone tried yet?
It doesn't detect the usb cable.
Has anyone been successful?
Looks like there aren't many people who use Myphonexplorer with the NC.
Can't you just sync it with your Google calender account without the need of a third party app?

I can, but at one stage the appointments multiplied on my phone calendar and also mysteriously deleted themselves! Took me a while to delete everything and start afresh. Perhaps I didn't set up the syncing properly, but that scared me off using Google Calendar to sync with my office Outlook one.

I'm getting rid of Outlook and starting to use Sunbird with the Google Calendar extension but I'm a little confused on what I need to do from here to get everything working the way I want.
I'd like to be able to use Sunbird for my tasks and calendar and Thunderbird for my contacts. I want my PC to be able to sync all this data online (free or paid... not really important) and I'd like my phone to be able to sync all that data wirelessly. This way, If I mark a task as complete on my phone, when I log onto my computer it will show as complete as well. All of this, without needing to use ActiveSync by conntecting my phone to my PC.
So far I have Sunbird syncing with Google Calendar without any issues. I also know of a few apps for Windows Mobile that will sync the Pocket Outlook database with Google Calendar. This then, takes care of all my calendar needs.
But, what about my tasks and contacts? Google Calendar doesn't sync either of those so I'm confused on what I need to do to get all 3 things syncing.
I'm thinking maybe I need some sort of online service (other then Google Calendar) that allows the syncing of all 3 and also has an app for windows mobile.
With that said, can anyone point me in the right direction? What's the best (in your opinion) way to sync a windows based PC with some online service that also syncs with your phone wirelessly?
try oggsync
I successfully used GooSync to do that; worked fine.
Only issue is that it's a manual process from the phone.
BirdieSync, while not free seems to do the job really well. I have thunderbird with lightning calendar extension configured to sync with google calendar.
As above, how do I use my HTC Dream to sync with my Outlook? Contacts, Calendar entries, Tasks and Notes?
I use "CompanionLink" works perfect.
Personal outlook on your home computer?
Yup, MS outlook on my home laptop.
The only way that I know of is to use a HERO or Rogers rom and the HTC Sync software. Every other solution that I've heard of is a 2 step sync from your outlook to google and then google to your phone.
You'll probably need to install the PCSCII.apk, since most devs remove it from their roms. get that here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4740940&postcount=13
and then download the HTC sync software from htc.com.
Also, if you use a rogers rom, you'll only get contacts to sync, using a hero rom will get you both contacts and calendar.
So the HTC sync software will only work with HTC Hero, am I right?
I'm using it on my G1 that's flashed with Mlign's 2.5.7 Hero Rom. I have not been able to make it work with non-hero roms. But, really I haven't tried too hard at that. I don't know what it needs from the Hero rom. I assume it's the HTC framework.
google Calendar sync works great for the calendar
Oh okay, anyone tried CompanionLink? Is it good?
Companionlink is a Sync through Google solution.
I see. Can it sync contacts and notes, calendar from Outlook?
I've never tried it, but it appears it would at least do Contacts and Calendar. But, if you're willing to sync through Google, I'm sure there a cheaper or even free solutions for that.

Yes it does, it allows you do do categories, outlook folders, alarms, date range, etc (companionLink)
If i'm willing to go through google, what is some of the free applications I can use? Simple sync entries i would need is contacts, calendar entries and notes.
Sorry, I don't know off the top of my head. When I was searching for this, I saw the google has an outlook plugin that will Sync the calendar. I also saw a different plugin that would sync Contacts. I'd start with googling outlook plugins.
good luck.
Companionlink now has a Sync over USB direct with outlook. I was excited and thought that I had finally found my answer. then I read:
----------------------------
Data we sync
* Contacts sync to the built-in address book on the phone
* Calendar events sync to a custom calendar app
* Tasks sync to a custom tasks app
* Notes sync to a custom notes app
Our custom Calendar app shows events in Day view only. Month view and other scheduling options are coming. Recurring events and exceptions are supported. Adding and editing recurring events must be done on the PC.
Our custom Tasks and Notes apps support categories, sort, and search functionality.
----------------------------
Sigh, it doesn't use the built in calendar database, so it won't work with any calendar widget. So close, but still no cigar. Oh well, maybe they'll wise up and just be a sync provider.
1. CompanionLink (http://www.companionlink.com/androidusb/index.html)
2. Mark/Space (http://www.markspace.com/products/android/missing-sync-android.html)
3. Various Google Cloud <-> Outlook solutions (Paid or free, Google them)
4. HTC Sync from some HTC-specific ROMS (e.g. Hero)
Take note that since Android has no built-in notes and tasks applications, nor a standardized database structure for them, those supporting and plan-to-support notes/tasks are/will be syncing to some custom notes/tasks apps.
The Companion's solution even syncs to a custom Calendar app.

Yeah, that was the disappointing part. I don't think a custom calendar app is a good idea.
Not sure if you're willing to pay anything, but roadsync syncs calendar, contacts and e-mail. Even has a calendar widget. I think it's like $25 now (I got in early and only had to pay $10). works well for me though.
how about syncing notes from outlook? is there one that can do that?
Has anyone been able to add their facebook account by going to settings-accounts-facebook?
I installed the facebook app off the market, but when i went under settings it didn't give me the option to sync friends to contacts like it did on my droid.
So went to accounts, add facebook, entered my email, and password, but it wouldn't sign in
Kept giving me a server error, then about every third time it gives an error that says that something is wrong with the device clock and to contact the administrator.
Tried uninstalling the app to see if it was causing problems, but no luck. Anyone been able to sync facebook friends with contacts (its
mainly to get contact pics off facebook)
Thanks
Edit: Finally got it to work. Only took over a week
When you install Facebook, under the "My Accounts" app, you'll see two entries for Facebook. One is actually for your Facebook app, and one is for Moto's "Social Networking" app. Using the Moto-branded version may offer you additional features.
I've noticed a couple places where you get shafted by Moto software for not using their built-ins. Like the Car Dock front page only links to the Moto Music Player... which has no music because I stream from Google Music.
I believe since OS 2.3 (Gingerbread), the facebook sync with accounts option has been removed from Android.
Easy method, download (free) SyncMyPix from the Market, it will sync facebook pics with matching accounts on your phone into your actual Google Contacts.
I run it once and don't let it do it automatically, just run it whenever I add new contacts.
The sync facebook accounts worked fine on my original droid, its running cyangenmod 7 2.3.3. Thats why it was driving me nuts, could just set the sync settings from the facebook app. Figured it was some moto thing, but didn't know if it was specific to my phone or not.
Thanks

Thanks for the SyncMyPix suggestion!
Looks like the facebook app has removed the settings for syncing contacts. Tried using the Verizon "MyAccounts" app but definitely a little screwy.
fb contacts synced with no problems for me. I used the "social networking" app in the app drawer and entered in my fb info. contacts now have either gmail or fb photo as their contact photo.
I used one of the two in the My Accounts app, contacts synced just fine.
I don't love that when you sync with face book your gallery becomes less about you, and turns into a fb gallery...wish you could turn only that feature off...

Outlook Sync
Does anyone have any experience with syncing their Xoom with Outlook? I'm running Outlook for my POP accounts, so nothing corporate and no exchange. Would like to sync my contacts and calendar into the base apps that the Xoom comes with. I just purchased my Xoom, and it has upgraded to Android 3.2. Also, I don't want to have my contacts uploaded to a gmail account... I'd just rather not. I have tried just about every app(both paid and free) mentioned on www(dot)syncdroid(dot)net, and none of them have worked with the Xoom, or Android 3.2, or some combination of the two. Does anybody have a working solution?
Thanks!
As far as I know you will not be able to sync the calendar and contacts without an exchange or IMAP account setup. However you can export your contacts from Outlook to a CSV and import that into Gmail.
For contacts and the calendar you can use funambol.
I am using it for quite some time now. The server is running on my nas and i am syncronizing my pc, my xoom and my andorid phone. You could also sync with various other systems.

Install the software on your PC, go to android market and download the app to the Xoom, run up the app on the Xoom, on your PC go to setting and select Android phone, and WIFI, then go connect, itll search for the android client on the xoom and connect...
I use this for my Experia Arc, I can sync up with Firefox which has a sync set up with Google, that can in turn be synced up with the xoom so it all happens automagically ;-)
Switch to Google Apps....its fan-freaking-tastic

Google sync settings are not included with the amazon software. They removed it however you can install the AccountAndSyncSettings.apk which is included on full fledge android devices. You can read my notes and download here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897380
I don't use calendars but this activates your sync.
Gmail and Google voice are syncing just fine it seems to only be calendar.
