What is the best rom that's. Run stable on G1 nowadays?

you could try froyo by laszlo 5.2,cos-ds,gingeryoshi etc..

For my ol G1 donut or froyo roms were the best for it, things got a little iffy when it was using Gingerbread or even a sense rom . Donut is the fastest though hands down, even w/o JIT.

I have tried a great number of roms and I can tell you that the best one is the PadronFroyo, the only problem is that I don't know if the italian is the only language, you can google it!

You can try SuperAosp. It is stable and fast.

If you want to run Froyo then its Froyo by Laszlo. And for Gingerbread Ginger yoshi or ezGingerbread by ezTerry..

Try Cyanogen ROM, really good one

now i'm trying froyo by laszlo. i think it's good. don't use padron froyo, because this version no supports bluetooth and screen rotation

Froyo by laszlo is the most stable froyo rom. Make sure to use EXT4 partition with it.

froyo yoshi, froyo by laszlo and ads_magpie are good.

What To install (lagfix+rom+tweaks) for SGS i9000

Hey all i wanted to kno what to install to have a smooth, stable & fast phone cause atm im running the Froyo rom from samsung but the phone feels laggy.
Any suggestions?
Links would be usefull
Thx in advance
W.
try Voodoo, seeems to be pretty stable http://project-voodoo.org/
My two cent:
Froyo "from samsung" is a pre-release beta, if you want a stable version, install the official rom for your device (the one available trough kies) and wait for the REAL froyo release.
Don't think they change.much.
The main reason what for some icon did disappear or did not installed when upgrade.
The best lagfix i know right now its z4mod.
Its fast and lagfree.
I also have super optimized kernel.
But you need to know how to flash with odin.

which is the fastest and most stable firmware?

With froyo being out I'm tempted to flash my JM8 device to the new froyo... However I'm wondering if froyo is actually faster, more stable and has an improved GPS.
Should I flash to JM9 or to froyo?
Other than that, which lag fixes should I use and tweakers?
there's so many roms out that I've lost overview and don't really know what's the best and most stable.
Please post questions in the Q&A forum.
well I'm using doc v7 rom with no rfs advanced ext4 lagfix. I m having litraly no lag... Evrythin's working super smooth. I'm using adw instead of touchwiz

I'm not just talking about fast, but also wonder which one works best in terms of features such as GPS
Only way to know for sure is to test it yourself, I find JPM to be ok but I'm also using one of them optimized 341meg roms as stock froyo only lets you see a max of 300megs. Also there seems to be a few more stupid startup processes running which you can turn off with startup manager (from market). The thing is that its this new kernel i'm using that gives all the speed.
i found JPA is faster than JPO. I have tested on 2 diffrent phone.
JM9 is probably the best Eclair ROM. And with FroYo just being officially released the latest ROM is JPO.
It's really up to you what to do at the end of the day.

Downgrading to Eclair with 2708?

I've been using Biffmod 2.1 on my G1 for a couple days, including the upgrade to the 2708 radio. But I'm just not happy with the speed. I'm assuming if I roll back to Eclair, the speed will be better. But do I have to downgrade my radio too, or can I flash an Eclair ROM, then flash a 2708 kernel on top of it?
Why not try an updated Biffmod 2.1, or one of the ota 2.2.1 roms first? Ezterry's OTA and Froyo4trout are pretty fast.
As for downgrading, I don't see why the universal kernel patch wouldnt work, but I'm not sure.
you can just flash the eclair rom over your exisiting rom(wipe first ofc then flash preferred eclair rom, universal kernal patch, then firerats spoof spl.)

Is the flashing of a new radio and SPL actually necessary? When I had a g1 I frequently switched between cupcake, donut, eclair, AND froyo ROMs. I never had to flash a new radio or SPL between ROMs. Just do a wipe between flashing roms, especially between firmware versions (what I mean by that is you should do a full wipe, cache, dalvik cache, and all betweem different versions of android, such as 1.6 to 2.1 or 2.1 to 2.2, etc.)
Ya, that's right. The radio shouldn't make a difference in the rom once you flash the kernel patch. I just didn't see that much of a speed difference between froyo and eclair. If you wanted a speed boost, donut would be your best bet. Its the fastest on these old phones.

I think eclair was probably worse than froyo since it was a port from the nexus one if I remember correctly. Google included the g1 drivers in the source code for froyo, so it was a straight up AOSP build, no porting necessary.

[Q] Eclair vs Froyo ROM

Hi guys, i'm going to flash a new rom to my G1 soon, but before i do that, what would be faster? An Eclair rom or a Froyo rom? Thanks for your help (and sorry for the stupid question)!
It really depends on the rom for me i stick with donut roms and trick them out with the latest ADW and a theme and maybe beautiful widgets donut is the fastest and best with battery life but as far as eclair vs froyo
Eclair roms are down the drain so try biffmod
USe the thank button
From my experiences, Eclair is definitely faster for me than Froyo. If you want to try out an Eclair ROM, I would suggest SuperE. It's definitely the fastest Eclair ROM I have found.
However, just like the poster above me, I would recommend Donut ROMs. I just went back to Donut ROMs, and I love the speed it gives me. I think I'll be sticking with Donut ROMs until I upgrade my phone.
I would say froyo. Try biffmod 2.1 with 2708 port, this thing is as fast as any eclair or donut rom for that matter. 15mb radio/spl hack does wonders.

Yeah I agree Froyo is bound to be faster since it isn't a ported ROM. Most or all of 2.1 ROMs are based off of CM5.0.8, which was a port from the Nexus One. When google released the AOSP source for Froyo, they included the G1 drivers natively. They are much more stable than the eclair roms.
But, like others said earlier, donut is always going to be faster on the g1, but less apps are supported.

[Q] Which are the best 2.1 ECLAIR roms for the Captivate?

Which are the best 2.1 ECLAIR roms for the Captivate? I've been using a 2.2 rom and it's very slow. I've been searching for 2.1 custom roms without succeeding. Does somebody knows a good 2.1 rom for the captivate?

You wont find any custom 2.1, only 2.2 and above. Just out of curiosity, why do you want to go SO far backwards?
I reasoned that it will be smoother on the captivates hardware. How come that there isn't any 2.1 roms?
Cuz it is 2.1... We had froyo and no body cared about 2.1. Now we have 4.0.3

The best ROMs are those in current development, and are subjective no matter what platform they're built on. Do your own research and find one that works for you.
