[Q] How do I get official U.K. Samsung Apps? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello...it's been a long drawn out drama...long story short as can be...I purchased from eBay an unlocked, non-branded GT-P1000 tablet. Shipper said she was from London. Phone came from Slovenia. The phone had apps like the free movie downloads, free ebooks, free music, whsmith ebook reader, etc. But, it also had unreadable unusable Korean apps...so I tried Odin and messed up my tablet. I ordered another one..GT-P1000 from Simply Electronics, as they are listed as being in the U.K. Phone shipped from Hong Kong and was in Original Chinese language. It did have English option...but also had Korean apps. So, I sent both back to the official Samsung Repair Centre...after many, many calls($150.00 for one call) emails, bad customer service...I got them back. I told them I just wanted them to be flashed to the original U.K. English version with the official Samsung apps. Now, the tablets(I bought them there because I wanted to be able to data/phone on one device. The version they flashed them to are even different than what was on them to begin with. And, the firmwares listed are not found on any sites. I now have both flashed to Overcome...but would love to have my original apps that came with the free $200.00 offer that they offered for the movies, music, games, ebooks. Thank you so much....I have a rooted EVO and gTablet and since I just got my tablets back, haven't had a chance to try out too much and now I see that AT&T and T-Mobile are blocking data/phone usage at the same time. Also, when connected to KIES, I can't remember which, but one listed the firmware and it said it was up to date, the other listed the firmware and said that it this version is not updatable. Weird.
My firmware listed from the eBay U.K. version is: P1000XXJMF
My firmware listed from the Simply Electronics version is: P1000ZHKC1
Many thanks in advance for your help and advice...have a great day!

[Q] Shipped with newer firmware.

Hi guys!
I bought my galaxy s from one of the first batches coming in to Norway a couple of months ago. This phone got sold with JF3 firmware wich maybe is one of the first and most buggy ones.
Now a buddy of me bought the phone just the other day, and hes phone got JM1/2?
Why the HELL is this update not available through Kies for my phone?
Its not that i dont know about Odin, but i really do not want to use it before 2.2 comes via kies. If even that gets through to my phone.
Is there a good reason for this?
Ask your provider!
He is responsible for his branded update.
Ask your telco/provider. Only they know.
I had a JF3 too and didn't see JM1 in kies. Unbranded GT-I9000.
Didn't really think about it and flashed JM8 with odin anyway... and tons of others to
Well, it would be quite hard to ask providers. As both phones are operator less. Or whatever word is used for it in English.
They are sold free from an agreement directly from the factory.
My unbranded Galaxy S came with JM2 (German market) not sure if it same everywhere else in the EU.
It's to do with the product code and kies/samsung. For example I've got JF3 on an unlocked phone in the UK. Everybody knows that JM1 is available via kies, however my phone has a different product code so I cannot find it.
Doing the kies registry hack allows me to find the update.
My theory is that samsung keeps a list of firmwares for every product code, and unfortunately it hasn't been updated for our codes.

[Q] Is there a way to "reset" my Chinese S6 Edge as if I purchased it in the US?

[Q] Is there a way to "reset" my Chinese S6 Edge as if I purchased it in the US?
I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I am somewhat desperate for help at this point. My awesome father-in-law gave me a brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that he received as a gift from a colleague who lives in China. The problem is, it comes preloaded with a bunch of Chinese apps, and Google Apps are nowhere to be found. I can't even browse Google on the phone on its own version of a web browser, which is all in Chinese. Is there any way of "resetting" the phone so that I can install Google Apps on it, such as the Play Store?
I've looked up how to do this, but I'm a complete novice to the world of customizing devices, and I did not get any farther than rooting the phone, which I did following this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016
I'm struggling to understand how to proceed from here because this stuff is very unfamiliar to me. If anyone could tell me what to do in a very layman-friendly, step-by-step fashion, I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to use the phone that my father-in-law gave me!
They bought it from China but it's unusable in USA. You can try the international XDA forum and ask there.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Premium HD app
First, You can change the language as Chinese in the setting. For that, You can translate the "setting" "language" " English" in Chinese online. then you can understand all the app on your phone. But I am not sure. whether the phone will work in USA due to the fact of the operators.

International Urbane In UK

I've just purchased an international Urbane on Amazon uk for a decent price. Amazon have made it clear it has a 12 month warranty and they will replace or refund if there are issues, and I have that on a live chat transcript so they can't go back on that.
However, as someone who's never owned an LG Android device, I'm wondering if I'm going to have problems with this International model here in the UK? For example, will OTA work or any other form of updating without having to go via ADB? I've heard Wear 2 is coming to this watch, I'd hate to miss out if I can't get it installed here in the UK. Will my UK S7 Edge work with it ok, and will Android Wear installed on my phone from the UK play store work ok? If there are going to be issues I'll simply return it. It's due for delivery tomorrow so any advice on this will be appreciated.

I'm using the EU W200e variant with 3G not the LTE version, as far as updates go, everything is fine, OTA operates normally and frequencies are not an issue. I see no reason for the LTE variant to be any different, others are using it successfully.
Thanks. It's actually the 1st gen Urbane I've bought, so it has no cellular ability. But as long as it can be used in the UK and can be updated to Wear 2 when LG release the update, that's good enough for me.

N9500 UK - anyone used this and is it any good?

Unfortunately in the UK, the only way to get the Deep Sea Blue variant would be to buy the N9500. I understand that this was built specifically for China markets, but it should have the right network frequencies for the UK. I was just wondering if anyone has bought one of these before, and whether there's any quirks in the device compared to the UK model? Cheers
Using Note8 N-9500 for 3 weeks now

Yes. Note 8 N-9500 is Hong Kong/China version. I have been using it for 3 weeks now, but I would not recommend it.
I have Hong Kong version. (China version doesn't support Google Play Store. Avoid it!)
Here are some negative things that I found out so far.
1. It works perfectly with UK network frequencies, however, you can't enable VoLTE or wifi cailling.
This is really downside. it keeps saying my current software does not support VoLTE.
2. It doesn't have Samsung Pass. Some apps require it to log in with your bio info (cf. finger print etc.), so it is bit annoying.
3. Android Pay works fine.
I have not use Samsung Pay yet, but Samsung Pay is registered as Hong Kong so you will get promotions from Hong Kong market only and you can't change it.
4. If you contact customer service through handset it automatically connect with Samsung Hong Kong Service centre. ha ha
I have tried to change it with other CSC roms such as Europe versions, but Note 8 N-9500 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 not Exynos as Europe or Korean version.
At this point as far as I know it is impossible to use other CSC roms.

Have you managed to flash Europe firmware successfully?
I've also got N9500 deep sea blue, the only reason I bought this version was for the colour!
I quite like it but would like to have volte
SM N9500
No I haven't. As far as I know EU firmware doesn't work with this SM-N9500.
I ask some questions to Samsung customer service Hong Kong, but I haven't got the answer yet.
If I do, I will post it here. cheers!

I have the China variant of the N9500 in Deep sea blue
I I've had it for 3 months with no problems. I saw from one of the other posts that there had been some issues they had found with theirs. Just to comment on mine Samsung pay initially wouldn't let me load a card and work but now it works fine with no issues. Google play was installed and works without issue also. Unfortunately I have not been able to get VoLTE or WiFi calling to work as the firmware installed does not support the former and the latter, I'm still trying to get to work, but neither I or EE can come up with a reason why it doesn't. I've also not been able to install a European /UK firmware due to the Exynos/qualcom incompatability issue. mind you there are only a few reasons why you'd want to install the firmware as the phone works fine with the firmware installed bar the issues I've mentioned and f you can live without WiFi calling or VoLTE then there's no reason to use it. They are a great bit of kit as I they come with a much larger internal storage than is available over here. This was the reason I got mine in the first place as I store loads of books and music as well as videos and as an amateur photographer alongside my DSLR I still use this for photos as the shots are quite comparable in lots of cases. I hope this has helped, oh and one more thing, I i got mine new from a online phone store via ebay I ended up paying about £750-800 for it which was cheaper than the lower storage version that you can get in the UK so that's another plus

No volte is a biggie for some.

i wonder if the wifi calling would work on the proper csc for n9500's or if like my provider, regardless of what mods are done to the phone's software, if its not a device purchased from them, they black list imei. well i should say they white list theirs and simply block everything else.
people on rooted 9500:
have you manualy extracted csc from relevant provider firmware and copyed to system/omc?

/ appreciate that it must a deal breaker for some out. there .I guess its just never been such a huge issue for me really. Its the inactive wifi calling that's the pain in the rear for me. It's not that
its not working that annoys me the most, its more
that there is no actual reason why it shouldn't work. that's the most annoying thing. its just so usefull to have.

Does region really matter?

I brought a Galaxy watch 3 on Amazon listed in the title as (UK version) yet when I got it and started set up the language was fine but regions were only Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Czech Rep, Slovakia and a few others, yet no UK....
I figure the reason a manufacturer uses regions is because some content may or may not be available in some regions?
I called Amazon and they offered a refund only, no replacement and the biggest kick in the teeth loss of any prime day discount, they stated they could not replace as its a third part seller. He claims the region does not matter, so I came here to try to find out if it does and why?
Thanks for helping me to decide whether to send it back or not. I paid £369.99 for the 45mm
Change the region. There are some guides on youtube how to change the region csc.
