[Q] can't get kindle app connected to the net (vegan) - G Tablet Themes and Apps

Ok the search button is failing me.
I put the kindle app on my tab which is running Vegan.
And it tells me it is not connected to the internet. Which it is.
Not sure what the fix is and googling and looking around the net has not revealed it to me....help.....

Ah....so tooling around with it last night, I wiped the version of Vegan I had and installed the 5.1 final version and followed the directions there and ended up getting it to work. Sucks because I will have to redo my emulators and my progress on Shining Force....*sad*...I guess I could have backed it up, but nothing I can't do again quickly. Just glad kindle is working now.

[Q] Issues with slacker radio?

Anyone else having issues trying to use slacker radio? I have a xoom wifi version, and I've been able to download the app, but it NEVER does anything after attempting to log in. I've tried reinstalling several times and still nothing. It stopped showing up in the android market, and I redownloaded it from the amazon appstore. But it still doesn't seem to work. Anyone else having this issue or know a way to resolve it? Also, my xoom is not rooted or modified.
I have 3g xoom and have yet to experience any issues hopefully things workout for you
Thank you Amazon App Store For My Slacker Radio!!!
I also have a wifi Xoom, and until last night I have been racking my brains on how to get Slacker Radio to fully work. It's now gone from my Xoom's market. So while i was getting my free daily app on the Amazon market, I decided to search for Slacker. Bam! There it was, knowing for sure it wasn't gonna work anyway I downloaded it. It found the one I had installed for the day I got my Xoom Version 2.1.170 I believe. It installed version Version 2.1.191. It opened and let me sign in. No blank screen, there were the channel list. Now I can give it some more love, now we just need a functional Netflix apk.
Couldn't install it from Android Market, but installed and worked fine from Amazon Market.
the new 3.0 version skips songs every 10 second or so. Anyone else having this issue?

Playstore now crashes after update and re-root

So initially I was having trouble getting it to re-root with qemu, and eventually I did however get it rooted again. I have root access and everything is fine other than the fact that I can no longer open the Google play store. I have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled. Im getting irritated, I have followed these boards since September without needing to ask for help but also never had an issue with my kindle fire hd 7'' up until that last sabotaging that amazon decided to do. Perhaps someone with the same problem can benefit also if we can figure it out because I noticed someone with a similar issue but didn't want to hijack the thread. Thanks in advance :good:

Googleservices keeps crashing

I have had my Kindle Fire rooted and working for 3 years. Just recently I installed the updated GooglePlay Services and keeps crashing no matter what. I even tried downgrading but keeps crashing.
I haven't updated the fire OS as I blocked updates, could be that a problem? I have read around that it's the new play services but if that's the case why doesn't an old version work?
Re: Kindle Fire HD GoogleServices Crashing
Hi.
I don't have a solution exactly. But I actually had the same problem. I rooted my Kindle Fire HD a couple years ago as well and have had no issues until now. Like you I had a lot of problems with Google Services. I tried a few different tacks unsuccessfully (updating, downgrading various Google Framework files etc.).
Ultimately, one day the device crashed and prompted a Factory Recovery Screen.
Fortunately, recovery proceeded with Superuser still intact. I haven't connected device to WiFi yet. Right now I'm trying to get my PC to recognize the Fire HD again, but I'm having some trouble. I still have Kindle Fire Utility and various ADB drivers etc. but I haven't gotten it to work again (yet). I know that newer versions of the software development kits have different requirements (serial numbers). But I'm a bit hazy still and I've just picked up this project again.
Annoyingly, Control Panel shows Kindle Fire in the device list as an ADB interface, but my (outmoded?) Kindle Fire Utility doesn't show it, nor does it even show the device as a USB storage......Strangely Android File Transfer on my Mac still works.
Right now the device boots runs Apex launcher and looks like stock Android. Previously, it ran all Google products relatively seamlessly (with some hiccups now and then). I never got rid of the Kindle OS, just rooted it and had launchers sit on top. And for a good couple years Google apps ran on it (and they auto-updated too). The main OS itself, though wasn't being updated and I suspect this is the reason why current versions of Google Services couldn't function any longer.
Hopefully, I should at least be able to sideload apps again, if not get all Google Apps working again.
Good luck with your efforts!
Update: several re-installs and reboots later, ADB utilities on my PC work and I can view/mod the drive of the device. I got old versions of Google Play to work, but any attempt at using Google Play Services results in a crash. Other apps, ex. Netflix are totally fine, micro-HDMI to TV still works beautifully. So it doesn't seem like the Kindle OS needs updating, if its easier to leave it intact---I'm still on the fence about installing a new ROM. Regardless, I continue to be impressed with the quality of the hardware Amazon uses....

Can I get GPS somehow?

sorry if this ends up being a duplicate thread, I don't see my original post
I have used Perfect Android to strip down my fire hd to android. It's working great, I can do everything on it that I could do on my phone; albeit slower lol. So my Kindle has been collecting dust for quite some time, and everyone is talking about Pokemone GO... my Asus Zenfone2 isn't supported for the game so I thought I'd try to boot up my kindle into some android version to see if it would run the game for fun.
It runs the game but the Kindle lacks GPS and all of the applications that I tried do not work in some fashion or another. I believe I tried 7 of them to no avail. I followed all the instructions such as hitting the tick mark for "allow mock locations". The closest app to working was the 1 suggested from this site Tether GPS, but when accessed it actually crashes on both devices.
So I'm just wondering if there is any good idea's on how to get a working GPS on the Kindle so that the game will work. Thanks in advance. =)

WIFI Stopped working.

I've had my two TP's rooted for years, mainly JC Sullins' builds. My wife's TP stopped connecting to our wireless, and she gave up on it a few years ago. I dusted it off, did a clean install with the TP Toolbox and loaded JC's Cyanogen 12.1-20160109. I also took the opportunity to delete the WEBOS since we never used it anyway. Well, the upgrade to a new operating system didn't fix my wireless problem. It still shows that it's trying to turn the wifi on. It never happens.
I've been searching for days, and still can't find a solution to this dilemma. I'm a firm believer of searching for an answer first, and hate to admit that I can't figure it out.
What do I need to do here?
I also loaded my TP with the same build, and it works like a champ. Mine never had a wifi connection problem.
I'm all ears.

Give this a try, it's a shot in the dark but I had this happen back in CM7 or 9 days.
Power off bothfo the TP's. We'll use your's for the 'known good' device.
Change the channel on your router to a higher number, like maybe 12...
Power cycle the router. (sorry if this screws up any other devices that are attached.)
Power up TP#1 & see if it connects and verify that you can get out on the net.
Then try #2.
if a no-go go then grab this terminal emulator so we can grab some info using the good ol' command line.
I wondering if the Wifi interface is dead but holding out hope that it isn't.

Thank you for the reply.
I really can't get to my router right now to try that.
When I turn on her wireless setting, it just says "Turning wifi on...." and never does. I never get to see a list of available networks.
So what is this wifi interface that you speak of? I'll start looking into that.
Better still install this for retrieving syslogs. Someone in another thread recommended it and it is a lot easier to use.
_Dan
I finally got the SysLog installed. Opened it up, and there is a statement that there is - "No root access. Without root access, it's not possible to get system or modem logs, and with some 3.x kernels it also may not be able to get kernel logs."
