[Q] Hemidall program install on Sprint GT - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to install Hemidall on my sprint galaxy tab so that I can update software, can someone tell me the procedures..I have downloaded the program to my PC, but need further directions..pls help???

That program does not run from your device, it flashes software from your pc.
I'm going to do you a favor and save you a 500$ brick by giving you this advice.... Read for about 4 hours through this forum... Then ask questions... If you attempt a flash at this point, I, don't suspect a good outcome...

So how do I get the new software update installed on my tab?? It keeps popping up and when I try to install it, it acts as if it is installing but no change...

Take it to your retailer if it is offering an over the air update and not supplying it... If you don't do your research you will destroy your tab using heimdall.

[Q] HELP |galaxy wont turn on after flash

i tried to flash my tab by the xda tutorial...
i got a flash fail and then the tab wont turn on...
wont get into download mode.
what can i do??
thanks.
Wont turn on at all?
We need more specifics. What did you try to flash with? What did you try to flash? What device are you using?
Usually a device that won't turn on means corrupt bootloader, which is a bricked tab. But that may not be the case, we just need specifics.

And make sure you have a full charge -for hours connected to outlet, not usb+pc.
k, so its an asiain tab,
i flashed it using odin 1.3
p1_add_hidden.pit
in the PDA i accedentlly put P1000OXAJM6(PAR)
i got "failed" at the factoryfs phase and i cant
turn it on even to DL mode or recovery...
do u need any more info?
tx.
If you aren't getting any screen at all (not even the ---!--- screen), even with a full charge, it's bricked, and going to take a jtag to repair.
Just read another thread in the CM7 thread about someone flashing the wrong file in the wrong spot. Usually means bricked.

and if its bricked, i assume i cant do it on my own... right?
You can buy a jtag and an adapter and do it yourself, bout 200 for both I think.

This is the Galaxy Tab forums not the Galaxy S.
You really should be asking your question over there...

Hate to say it, but Atheist is right, this post is beyond being in the wrong sub-forum...
but I can tell you, if you can't force it to turn on, it sounds boned.

Of course if you don't know how to use a JTAG or don't have the time to learn how, you can bring it to Samsung and have them fix it... If it's still possible to get fixed.

Gingerbread was a mistake. (JP9/JPZ/KP1)

So, decided to update my tab to whatever kies offered for my UK GSM tab.
What a mistake. Freezes, hangs, need to hard reboot it every half hour. Also, now i cannot make ends with all this bootloader malarkey. Can i reflash it ? Which one to reflash to, etc...
Tab initially was P1000XWJMI/P1000XXJMA/P1000CPWJM2 and i got it rooted.
Now its P1000XWJP9/P1000XXJPZ/P1000CPWKP1 and i cant find how to root it, which kernels to use before custom-rom'ing it.
Too much conflicting info and no info specifically about JP9 on a tab...
Help ?

Please help

Ok obviously at this point I didn't fully understand what I was doing and if you feel it necessary to berate me further feel free, I will consider that payment for any help you may be willing to give. Now on to the issue.
I tried to odin a GB rom onto my sprint tab and lets just say it didn't go well. Odin showed failed when I did this and the tab went from the download screen to the "download error screen". Now the tab won't power on and when I plug it into an outlet with a wall adapter the "error download screen" flashes on and off every minute or so. Any help would be appreciated, I have gone through the stickies at the top of this page and tried to use the "Soft brick" recoveries mentioned in these threads for the sprint related tab topics. The tab won't turn on when unplugged from the wall and Odin doesn't see it when I plug it into the pc. I find very little on the net through google on this "error download screen". Thanks
So, a few questions....
1.What type of tab do you own, GSM, CDMA or wifi only?
2. Did you unlock your bootloaders?
3. What was the rom you tried to flash for, a GSM, CDMA or wifi only tab?
I've flashed my tabs quite a few times and never had trouble, aside from the occasional bootloop. You need to find out what version of tab you have, read ALL instructions and stickies to make sure you know what you're doing or your lovely little toy will become an expensive paperweight...
If in doubt, ask... You will receive an answer but make sure you have read up on what to do, just saying "How do I flash this thing" will get you flamed....
I don't have a CDMA tab or wifi only tab so I might not be able to help much....
I believe it will be one of these 2 as you have Sprint in your sig as a carrier....
Thanks for the reply!
1. It is a CDMA tab SPH-P100 (Sprint)
2. I did not unlock my bootloaders, I bought the tab from ebay(used) and noticed it had superuser so I figured I was good to go.
3.The rom was labeled: "[SPRINT] Stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 EF17 ROOTED ROM" I figured that it would be ok. Link to thread with rom.

Any chances of resurrecting my Galaxy Tab?

Ok! I bought a Samsung P1000N Galaxy Tab from ClaroPR this week. Like always with every android devices i have i rooted it with superoneclick. Yesterday i was trying to update the tablet to gingerbread since it had Froyo. Follow the tutorials in here to flash it(I guess i didnt read the warnings about the secure bootloaders or something like that) but the thing is that i ended up softbricking my device. The gingerbread i was trying to flash was the JQ1. Anyways, i tried to flash it using Odin 1.7, it ended up failing and now i just have the cell triangle and computer logo of dead on the screen. Thing is that i know its not supposed to be totally bricked. But then in the device manager it doesnt show as samsung composite device or anything like that. I need help from someone who has gone thru this already and knows what to do. Or is it just a brick and thats it? Thanks...

If you get anything on the screen at all (Triangle, Download mode, Samsung logo, etc...) It's not bricked, just sponged. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the P1000N, but in general, try reloading the samsung drivers and try another USB port. Once you get it to show up in device mangler you can push the right tar with Odin and you'll be cooking with gas again. Sorry I can't help with this specific model, but sammy devices in general are hard to truly "brick"
Okay i think now its dead. It turned off when it lost the charge and now not even Heimdall recognize it. So if someone knows about a good tutorial on Jtaging this i will appreciate.
Edit: Found useful guide in here to resurrect it so i will give that a try...
The Unbrickable Mod works like a champ! I know, because I had to resort to this over this last weekend.
However, it does require mods to the mainboard that require some skill. Once accomplished, it is virtually impossible to brick your Tab.

Why you want to go for Jtag just becoz battery is dead. Get the Tab Opened, Recharge the battery externally (Repair/Service Center should help). Follow the Team Overcome Guide to install the Stock Safe Rom and then you can either continue with it or move to any other ROM of your choice.
I would keep JTAG as the Last option.
If it's new Tab, it should still be under warranty.
wow, impressive post (the unbrickable mod).. Not sure I'd have the guts to do that though..

[Q] Samsung Galaxy s5300 - will rooting and flashing a ROM help?

I am a n00b, and I accept that.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Pocket (s5300). It looses network connection (while still showing that it has signal). I took it to a Samsung dealer and they reloaded the software, and a week later it does it again.
My question: Will rooting and installing a custom ROM fix this? (I don't want to root and custom ROM if I should rather take it in for repairs again and then do it when they have fixed it).
Your help is appreciated, by this n00b.

It's an Android phone, not a modem. I really like this phone and would love it to work properly.

Lol... You've got a lot of reading to do. Modem is part of your phone that deals with connectivity. Since you have not rooted and don't want to, send it in. But yes rooting it and flashing a different modem would help

Thanks
Well, I thought I might as well root and load a custom ROM onto my phone (seeing as the Vodacom software on it does not seem to work properly).
I managed to root the device easily (following a tutorial on the XDA forums). I then downloaded odin and a cusom ROM from the site, custom ROM needs the stock ROM installed, so I downloaded that as well. OK, phone shows green android logo in Odin Mode, now Windows fails to install the drivers for my device.
Let's try Linux (I am running Peppermint Three), I install Heimdall (works like Odin), the ROM I downloaded for Odin won't work here and there isn't a ROM available for Heimdall for the s5300.
So now I am stuck halfway through loading a different ROM onto my phone. Have heard I can try installing KIES for the Windows drivers. Will try that and report back.
*** Time for an update:
Downloaded and installed Kies. Windows now properly detects my phone, Odin showed the yellow block it was supposed to, and my phone is rooted and flashed to stock Android. Thanks to everyone at this forum for their great articles. Hopefully I will get better at this stuff some day.
