Pulling down a 485MB update right now. Haven't found anything as to whether it is truly Lollipop or not... SLOOOOOW download.
reboot... and it's only 4.4.4. Why on God's green Earth would they deploy 4.4.4 when 5.0 is supposed to be ready to roll?
5 will probably be available soon. Just like what Verizon is doing

Thanks for the notes!
So.. basically unknown fixes, plus more AT&T bloatware to disable?
I guess that depends on how important you feel VoLTE and 4.4.4 updates are.
Lolipop will be coming soon enough.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
Yea... I guess they started the work for this update long time ago and decided to just finish it and release it. The AT&T's version of Lollipop is most likely still a several weeks/months away.
VoLTE + fixes in 4.4.4
VoLTE and whatever fixes that came with the 4.4.4 update are more than likely not part of the lollipop 5.0 or 5.0.1 updates.. VoLTE I'm sure is the major reason for the 4.4.4 update being pushed before lollipop.. VoLTE is obviously going to be a major selling point in the future for all carriers.. leaving it out and just jumping to lollipop would be stupid for AT&T.. once all areas receiving the 4.4.4 update have been rolled out they should start rolling out one of the versions of lollipop.. probably before the end of February so as not to be to far behind Verizon
Dont have the update
I have the s5 for at&t and I just checked and it said my software was up to date. any idea why I didnt get it?
AT&T is rolling out the update in "stages", meaning you might receive it later than the other customers. I have 2 Galaxy S5's in family, both are on the same plan and are AT&T-branded, however only one of them have received update. Don't worry and give it some time - unless you live in a region where "HD Voice" is already available this update is not "crucial".

I have an AT&T unlocked model of Galaxy S5. Will I still get the OTA or KIES if I am abroad? Its completely stock, non-rooted. I've changed nothing. My current version is 4.4.2.

i was wondering exactly the same thing...
If you are not using an AT&T SIM you will not get an update. I don't think you could get the update even if you were using the AT&T SIM and were on a European or Asian network. I haven't seen an update on KIES for an AT&T phone since 4.1.2 on the GS3.

I have Lookout as the top consumer right now at 29%. That's not good. I did that update a week ago, and it was very miserly then. I wonder if a recent LookOut update is the culprit.

Lookout is very buggy. Over the course of owning my s5 I've already uninstalled and installed lookout 4 times (which solves the problem for a good while). FInally I decided to turn off the malware scanning and just keep location / lost phone part as that's all I really care about (as a backup to android device managers lost phone feature). I figure the android has built in limited virus protection already and I don't install except from the play store and am not rooted. I haven't had any problems with 4.4.4 but I did a clean wipe and use lookout in a limited fashion.

some problem I noticed
First, I am using Verizon s6 edge on T-Mobile.
I installed the latest update thru Verizon update tool.
After the update, I noticed that sometime even there is 4 bars, the LTE logo is grayed out and I don't have internet connection. I have to toggle airplane mode on and off to get data back.
Do you have this same issue?
I don't have it before the update.
Thanks.
I turned off HD calling, seems solve the problem.

From what I've read, Nougat is now rolling out in Europe and soon in India. I'm guessing the US will be the last (as always) and a lot depends on the carrier you use, since they have final say as to when they update. Verizon is usually one of the last to update, so I'm guessing a couple more months.
Any chance we can root the phone after this update now?
Samsung SmartSwitch will allow you to plug your device into your PC using File Transfer Mode to update to a newer firmware even without the SIM Card.
It still tries to get me to update my firmware still at least. But I don't want to. Updating the firmware guarantees (more often than not) that any exploit found in an older firmware will already be patched. My goal will always be to utilize the Exynos7420 board to its fullest.
Anyone try to update their S8 to the day one update of QD9? I bought the Verizon version but using it on Tmobile through MintSim so my only option to update it is through the VZW Software Upgrade Assistance pos software. It sees and downloads the update fine. However, when it reboots the phone to the "Downloading...." screen, after a while I get a "Odin Protocol version error!" I rebooted the phone and tried again but to no avail.
*Edit* So, I just had to update the VZW software to the newest version and then that fixed it. The update went through fine. Lol
I've had my Verizon S8 since Friday and accepted the QD9 update later that evening. The only change I can tell is that the ability to legitimately remap the Bixby button has been removed. Sorry brother if that was your plan.
do you retry bxaction

For future updates you may want to use Samsung Smart Switch instead than VZW software. I have the s8 verizon version with a different company and wasnt able to update until i tried with this Samsung software and I find it easier and probably better than the VZW app.
The updated VZW software is nicer and worked fine. I'll look into the Samsung software next time.
rSAP allows really cool integration with some cars.
Anyone knows if Note 9 supports it out of the box?
Just got the note 9 dual sim phone and it looks like there is no rSAP !!!... Going to miss this feature badly.

It does support it. Connects automatically to car! So nice
Only single sim supports this feature. This annoys me
Actually Note 9 support rSAP
Hi,
I was asking the same question after getting my new Note 9 dual sim.
First time when I connected to my car system (RNS 510 PREMIUM) I was very disappointed that it was not working as my previous phone (Note 4), after trying to finding on the internet if Note 9 is supporting the rSAP I was concluding that is not working on Samsung phones with dual sim.
Anyway, it was a nice surprise when he actually connected to my car system and I notice that I can make calls directly from the car system buttons and now is two days past and still working without any issues.
What happens exactly I can't be sure but it start working after one security update of the phone.
Hope this information will help somehow.
All the best!

So you're saying rSAP works with your dual sim note 9? What model? N9600 or N960F?
And what update did you get that made this possible?

Maybe I don't understand what is exactly rSAP but as I mentioned earlier, before the update it was now way to make a call directly from the buttons on the steering wheel or from the media system buttons and something else is that on the car media system display now is showing the strength of the mobile network wat wasn't before.
Sorry for the confusion if I misunderstood the mining of rSAP.
rSAP
rSAP is only necessary if your car needs data Connection from your phone! Only bluetooth and you can still make phonecalls! rSAP needed for google earth, news, weather...
So many people are reporting with the 3/1 sweep by AT&T, that they are blocking almost all Unlocked phones: See: Downdector Link We personally have a S10 (G973U1). AT&T is saying on this list: AT&T approved phone list that it is supposed to work. But like many other people "calls" end immediately, but we can text and data work. It is some sorta ploy by AT&T to force us to upgrade our phones. They want us all to upgrade to S22s. Anyway I was ranting. Anyway, if you look at that link, they are saying that the phone has to be on the latest software. The last update from AT&T or the manufacturer was in January. I checked the firmware site, and Android 11 is the latest in January. I'm wondering if there is some hack to get us on to '12' or something. An update might solve this issue. We know that a new SIM does not work. Calls seem to be rejected on the network, just based on the phone model or Android version.
We are aware that a version 12 is out there for the phone, just that firmware is not for our US-unlocked model yet. But maybe it can be hacked?
Edit: It appears this thread may be linked with this older one... But it is ever more pressing issue now:
S10 Unlocked phone with AT&T Firmware here they explain how, and the problems with flashing. This was back in 2019, so I'm not sure if this will still work. Even then it didn't work for everyone. Some in that forum claimed that it did. AT&T seems to now be blocking from their calling network any phones not enabled with VOLTE and the extended AT&T services that are not present in Unlocked phones.

I was helped by a user to achieve ascendance onto the AT&T network. I'm not sure if I'm to reveal his name. We 1) go into Developers mode on the phone. 2) Hack the Kernel. 3) Flash the rom to the G973U (model)... with the AT&T firmware. So that the Wifi-Calling and 5G features would work, and AT&T would allow it on their network.

I've literally been searching for an answer to this for days now. My wife and I have S10's. I work far from home so I really need her phone working in case of emergency. Can you please point me in the general direction? Thanks!

At first I had to use the Samsung Band Selector app from the Play store and go into More Network Settings > AT&T > Preferred Network Type and choose 3G. Unfortunately this killed LTE so all data and calls were going through H+. As I was mostly on wifi I could live with it since I could actually use the phone again.
Then Friday morning I checked for updates and there was the update to take me to Android 12. I took the update then when it finished it said it needed to reboot to connect new SIM to carrier services....it wasn't a new SIM. I let it reboot and everything was working with VoLTE again.
Hope this helps.
