My Galaxy S i9000 XEU was upgraded to 2.3.3 via Kies and I have CF-ROOT on it.
When I add an appointment in the calendar, I always get this message:
"New event
Local calendar does not sync with Google calendar.
If you want to sync with Google, please add Google account"
Then a checkbox for "Go to account and sync"
and another: "Never show again"
Now, I have a Google account so not sure what I need to add.
It seems as though the new entries do in fact end up in Google Calendar, but the message is bugging me. I could tick "Never show again" but I always like to know /why/ things happen.
It's the only small thing wrong I've found since going from 2.2.1 to 2.3.3
I am having precisely the same issue after upgrading to 2.3.3 on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I have now chosen to opt not to show this message again, and everything seems to be fine. At first I thought appointments were not synching, so I went into my google account and did a resync there, just to be sure. Seems all problems are gone now.

Hi all,
I can't find an answer to this anywhere.
Before I had a LG EVE with openetna rom and when I synced my contacts with gmail, it synced only the "My contacts" part.
Now with my i9000 it syncs "All contacts" which is "My contacts" + All the contacts I ever answered to, which polluates my phonebook ...
Any way to avoid that ??
Thanks a lot !
C.
as far as i know, eclair (2.1) syncs everything from your account. but froyo (2.2) allows you to show/sync selective groups from your Gcontacts.
Great !
Thanks for your answer, I'll have to wait a little, or flash it with a JPK firmware to test..
But I'm quite sure that the openetna I had was based on 2.1
Is this specifically a Galaxy S issue? because I'm trying to do the same thing where I only want to sync contacts in my contact list, not everyone I've corresponded with in the past over gmail.
The reason I ask is because my buddy's got a HTC Desire and he says he doesn't have that problem and it syncs fine.
????
I have tried to read all topics here and elsewhere regarding my specific issue, but have found no answer. Solution to this is absolutely vital to me, so I will try here, because I know this is the place where legends are born. Sorry for the long post:
Scenario: I need to sync my Samsung Galaxy S calendar with my workplace outlook calendar (data from Outlook to Galaxy, one way). Only calendar needs to be synced, absolutely no contacts or emails.
Systems: WinXP SP 2, Outlook 2007, up to date Kies / Galaxy S, Froyo 2.2 downloaded via Kies (lucky pioneer), rooted, running OCLF, LauncherPro, several widgets including smooth calendar.
Preferred method: Outlook Sync with Kies (the crappiest application I have ever seen, and I've see a few): This worked well for the first time I sync'd calendar (was not rooted, os 2.1, no launcherpro, no OCLF). Now it has quit working:
Kies finds phone just fine, but when I click Calendar on Kies, it clocks for a second saying "events are being loaded" and then tells me to "please connect the mobile phone..." It seems as if there's something that interrupts the reception.
Also, if I click "contacts" on Kies it throws me an error message "Set property 'System.Windows.FrameworkElement.Style' threw an exception." (this also worked for the first time). Message viewer behaves like calendar (has previously worked).
So it seems that Kies has stopped co-operating with my phone. I have also tried disabling Launcherpro and oclf, re-installed Kies, nothing helps.
Alternative method: Syncing OTA with exchange. This would be perfect, except it also retrieves my work emails that are literally thousands of them packed with delicate data and huge attachments I don't want to carry around with my phone. A method of syncing only the calendar would be perfect, but nooo...
Not-in-a-million-years-method: Syncing Outlook with Google calendar and then syncing Google cal to phone. I will not send my company data to Google cloud, no way: In fact I'm quite surprised how many people seem to find this a perfectly viable solution.
Thanks for reading. Any tips, tricks, suggestions even solutions are awarded with a huge virtual banana and a warm thought.
Hunt down any media files on device with more then 16 letters and rename or del. There's a known bug in kies. You could also try exchange apps like "roadsync" and I think "touchdown"

I seem to have solved the Kies issue: One click lag fix blocked Kies from working. I uninstalled OCLF and things started working again (I also had to change Launcer back to tws, and kill K9 and smooth calendar processes in order to get usb connection.)
here's a nice way to do it for free

Could you make this in to a tut? I'm having the same problem and would love to fix it. Thanks!
On the stock Rogers 2.1.1 Android, I was able to install the official Facebook app, configure it and it would ask me if I wanted to synchronize my existing contacts (I would select to sync only those that were already on my phone) and everything worked rather peachy... it would auto link up my Facebook contacts with my Google/Phone contacts all by itself.
I just today upgraded to Android 2.2 (via Kies... (un)official Rogers ROM) and installed the Facebook app again and it never asked me to sync any contacts at all. I went to accounts and tried to add an account (specifically the Facebook app choice, since there is 2) and it does nothing.
I figured it was some slight incompatibility with the app, so I then tried the built-in Facebook account type with the phone - it works and syncs contacts, but it asks me to pick every single contact I want and on top of that, it doesn't seem to do a very good job of linking contacts at all.
I'm wondering, this experience I've had with 2.2, is this intended; is this the way it should be (ie, kinda crappy compared to my 2.1 experience)?
what do you mean by "so I then tried the built-in Facebook account type with the phone"? i am having problems also. i'm using the Cognition ROM which was ported from the Rogers 2.2 release, so i am sure we are in the same boat. everything i have tried hasnt worked.
Hi all
I am running stock Samsung Froyo 2.2.1 and somehow, SNS status of my contacts stopped working. It does not show if I create a shortcut on desktop, hovewer it shows in the Dialer app. I tried to re-join facebook and phone contacts, re-enable facebook sync with the samsung app and also with facebook app, nothing helping. The only thing not tried is removing the Facebook sync account and add it again. Any suggestions?
that wont help either im having the same problem i guess its messed up but i tried removing the account & adding it again still did nothing hope this answers ur question
damn... i expect you did not try to do hard reset too
nope didnt try that it seems like there fixing it but who knows how long that will last lol y did u try a hard reset??
Nah... I am saving that for real issues
I am having the same issue. The get friends screen simply says "No SNS accounts". This is a samsung galaxy s. I have a facebook account setup... On Android 2.1 I used to be able to select who to sync. I am now on 2.2.1

I had heard Facebook and Google having a falling out and Google disabling sync but I thought it would only affect official 2.3 firmwares. Might be a corporate rather than a phone issue

Anyone having issues with the stock calendar app not showing reminders? I use my calendar often for reminders, yet most of the time it never notifies me. Never had this issue on my original EVO...
I'm also confused with the calendar settings under "reminder settings" and it says "apply to", every time I change it to my @gmail.com account and exit the settings, go back in and it is changed back to "people".
