I got some questions.

Hello,
Well , first of all I'm pretty new to android stuff and I want to ask you guys(experts) some questions about stuff which arent clear to me.
1. Will my rooted phone (Galaxy S) automatically updated to android 2.2(froyo) when It's rooted?
2. Do I loose my data?
3. When froyo arrives?
Thanks in advance..
1. yes and no, it comes from KIES, or you can use Odin to upgrade to 2.2, it is not OTA
2. yes everything you flash the firmware you lose your data, so do a backup before you flash, then simply restore your accounts and data
3. in a few days
Thanks for the quick response, but i dont fully understand your first answer

it is not automatic (OTA) over the air
you need to plug the phone to KIES desktop PC software to get froyo when it comes out
Ah ok. Thanks!

[Q] Root without losing data

There is a way to root my I9000 without losing data?
thanks
Getting root access does not effect your data.
can I do it with Odin or there is another way?
Depends, if you are on Froyo then you can use SuperOneClick and don't need Odin.
If you are on Gingerbread, then you need Chainfire's root method that requires you to use Odin.
Either way you won't lose your data, but you can use Titanium Backup to be extra safe if you want...

Unless im mistaken you can't use titanium backup unless your rooted...
Use can use app list to save the market links to your apps though... and then just backup your internal sd, wont save everything but its some atleast
you can root your phone using z4root from market. or flash it with kernel by downloading sgs kernel from the market

If i root my galaxy tab p1000.. Can i master reset it back,?

Pls help me

Strictly speaking no.
However tools like SuperOneClick provide an unroot procedure that puts things back the way they started. That is different than master reset.
What can be done is soft/local root. Perform a roto backup then use that image to reflash back to stock.
I suspect you've got lots to learn before you can accomplish those steps.

I guess my question would be why do you *need* to unroot it? OTA Updates? Warranty issues? Rooting was the first thing I did (within 20 minutes of getting it from craigslist) and don't regret it one bit.

ICS stock reinstall?

If I'm safely rooted on new ics, can I reinstall it by just using mobile odin to flash rom and cf kernel in one step? Don't want hassle of factory reset.
Reason is bc I changed some stuff around and now screen capture failing.

it is not windows, re-install won't fix your problem
if mobile odin cleared the faulty setting for you then it means mobile odin did a factory reset for you
in this case why don't you just do a factory reset?
Bro I tinkered with system apps and just want to replace the rom files.
Answering my question exactly as it was stated would be much more helpful.

with the scary bug around I would use PC odin instead.
you did't mention you changed system apps........
PC odin is the safest method right now to flash if u r on effected kernel
I had just tried reinstall stock ICS using Mobile Odin Pro over my rooted stock ICS. Everything ok, root is still retain after flash. Hope this help.

Indeed, as it's not a wipe ROM.

Question.
Question. You said you want clockwork and root. How about you flash Cyanogen Stable Mod 7.2? It has clockwork AND it comes pre-rooted so you dont have to worry about rooting the phone.
