Hi!
The annoying sounds of my internal/external SD mounting/unmounting whenever I rebooted or changed my usb settings were driving me crazy and I ran across this line in my build.prop
It was set to 1 so I changed the value to 0 and rebooted. The sweet sound of silence!
Find this string in your build.prop and change it to 0, or manually add the string if it isn't there:
persist.service.mount.playsnd=0
Then reboot and enjoy the silence!
For those who don't know, build.prop is located in the /system folder and can be easily edited with Root Explorer. Root Explorer will also automatically back up your original build.prop
*EDIT* NFHimself also let me know you should be able to enter "setprop persist.service.mount.playsnd 0" from adb or in android terminal to add the value. You will have to su first to have root access. Thanks for the info!
This mod is only enabled by default in Gladiatrix, so all credit for this mod goes to Ririal. I just shared it with you all.

I don't have it either (but will add per OP instructions). I wonder if Ken removed it in Gingerblur 3.5 in an attempt to stop the mount/dismount notifications. I know he thought he had the issue fixed.
I did it but the sounds persist.... Any help? It´s very annoying sound.

I am not sure what added it to mine to be honest. It was either Greyblur or the Cool Blue theme (which I think contains files from Gladiatrix).
Either way, credit goes to them for adding/discovering it to the build.prop in the first place. I am just passing the info along.
Yes, I rebooted twice and the sound still annoying!
EDIT: Wow! I´m so stupid! I put 0 in another line! Now it works! Really thanx!

Yes unfortunately. You have to edit it yourself or flash a p-rom that already has it edited.
There is no easy on/off setting.

Again, im not trying to offend you OP, just gotta make sure you know.

You know what would be cool. If someone made a lockscreen using the stargate. And you had to dial a stargate address to unlock the screen. That would be awsome.

Even if its signed there is a possibility of something bad, as you put it. Anyone could create a key and sign it. I don't believe there have been any malicious roms but that is what the community is here for. I'm sure ppl smarter then myself disect everything in a Rom to make sure nothing is malicious. Props to OP will be testing tonight.

In the end, theres really not too much one could do to watch for "bad stuff." I don't even know what bad stuff you'd be looking for though, keyloggers? If theres one of those, all you'd have to do is double check the input section to make sure it's a legit IME. Other than that, ATK would help you look for anything else.
The fact of the matter is most of these roms just aren't signed, unless you're building from aosp, or you take the keys out of the rom that you're modifying.

Fix to Get Rid of the MMS Notification in your Call Logs
Apologies about the brief post earlier today, was at work and a bit of a hurry. Here is a more detailed method.
This was created from the JS5, i9000 source, but has been confirmed to also work on JS7 and KB1.
This will not remove exisiting notifications, but will stop new ones from popping up.
I do not take credit for the original fix, my source is listed below.
Clockwork Flashable zip file below to apply this fix, the steps are listed because I was asked for the process, but if you just want the mod, just flash the file at the bottom of this post.
This assumes you have knowledge of apkmanager or apktool to decompile the apk's, and notepad++ or another way to compare and edit the smali's. Those are lessons for another thread.
I happened upon this thread this morning over in Vibrant Q&A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988929
Which led me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853177 (Go Hit mammon88's thanks button)
-Grab the LogsProvider.apk from the Epic thread, second one linked, and decompiled using apkmanager.
-Move that file somewhere else, maybe even rename the folder, you won't need it again, and it will be the example folder/files.
-Take the LogsProvider.apk from your rom, and decompile with apkmanager or similar program.
-Inside the decompiled apk, using the one in the apkmanager folder here, not the Example Folder, browse to \smali\com\sec\android\provider\logsprovider, and open the LogsProvider.smali with notepad++ (that what I recommend using)
-Now from you Example Folder, drag the corresponding smali file to notepad++, and it will be in a new tab.
-In notepad++, hit Plugins->Compare->Compare, and the differences in the files are highlighted.
-Recreate the edits in the example to your main file, and save.
-Recompile the apk being sure to delete the classes.dex in the process.
These steps may/will work for comparing and editing other files, but be cautious. I didn't go in blindly and say "Eureka" on the first differences I saw. I compared every smali and xml, being cautious in editing, and got lucky on my first shot. Thankfully this apk only has a handful of smali files, first one I've ever decompiled that had less than 40. If you follow my steps, don't hold me responsible if it doesn't work, especially if you failed to make a backup.
The zip below is flashable via Clockwork Recovery. Backup as always, cause hey, it happens.
*Hits the thanks button when I get home*

Thats interesting. I thought that Bionix 1.3.1 was KB1 (Android 2.2) based. Well hell, as long as it works, although be on the lookout for the odd issue or two, as this was sourced from the European i9000 JS5 port, and is all I've tested it on. Thx for the confirmation.

how can I enable On-screen Keys and navbar ?
I already tried to to add "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" line to build.prop. No success here. Wont boot, not even go to the CM logo. Just black screen.
Any Ideas ?
Thx for your help
BTW,
the reason why I want to enable softkey and (if possible) disable the capacitive buttons is the following:
I have hugh fingers. And so often when I type I accidently hit the home button instead of the space bar. It is really annoying. However, I never had this issue with my old SGS and my GalaxyTab.
And another thing: Sometimes when I hit the upper end of the buttons, it fires the long click action, e.g. it goes directly to RecentApps instead of HOME.
There are actually plenty of tutorials all over XDA (general or software section).
Search for it.
If you want further help you have to tell us details about your current setup.
EDIT: Just to let you know,
I searched for 1 min and found 3 different ways. One last tip: don't use the XDA search but Google, way more reasonable outcome.

Well, the problem seems to be limited to cm10.1.3.

The qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 just means that your device has no hardware menu buttons.
Whether CM didn't set it so this will enable navigation bar or you did something wrong.

I guess i stick with cm11 nightlies then
but thanks anyway
how are you editing the build.prop?
many file editors give problems with boot after edit, the best option is to copy file, edit and then push to phone through adb
the quemu hw keys is universal on cm to tell if your phone has hw keys or not so it should not be causing problems
(also check if it is already present in the build.prop)
If still it isn't working and don't want to change rom you can always use xposed framework which has a few different modules for nav bar

someone will probably have to have it installed then pull app data for libs folder if there are any. then you would need to flash the /data/app/name of apk folder with libs to the correct area and also the main .apk to /system/app
but then again some manufacturer's apps are not compatible with aosp or cm based roms and need porting to work
(if that is what you are running)

Having had a crack at this myself... On my newsed SM-T325 I just got myself. I can only suspect that the clue is in the name seckidsmode... Sec here referring to security al-la knox mode perhaps?! no, not so much as full on knox, as such. But is still tied up somehow in as far as once its gone its gone. At least this is what I found when I tried to reinstall it back onto a rooted, but otherwise stock... And 0x0 valid SM-T325.
You might not care to hear it, but the only way I was able to recover (Twice now, as I write this!), was to re-flash the current BOC1 Firmware on top of everything again. Thankfully this hasn't tripped up my Knox... yet though I need to re-install TowelRoot + SuperSU again, unlike Knox however, you can install, and use this Kids Mode while rooted. But, as to reinstall it again after you've yanked it?
Well lets say that I'm kinda interested to know that One too...

Mute point now... But, I was on Stock at the time.
The only way I managed at the time to recover the Kids Mode, was to re-Stock, and to not removing it to begin with.
