I downloaded the newest Swype beta and installed it ok, but when I try to swype it says "The Swype package you installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality. Please contact Swype about this issue." I can type individual letters though.
Anyone else having this problem?
I'm running Tazz Froyo 5 right now btw. Thanks in advance for any help!

Someone I know had this same issue on an Eris running KaosFroyo (V38 I think) and just ended up going back to the older version. The only advice I can give is you go back to the older version as well.
I've had this issue before. Can't remember how I fixed it though >.<
Have you tried reinstalling with autokiller/taskkiller off?
This happens to many people every time they update. Go into settings and uncheck Swype. Uninstall Swype and the Swype installer. Reboot Phone. Then redownload Installer and install all over again. It should work. Swype recommends clearing your home screens of all widgets too before the reinstall but I have never had to do that. Good luck.

That happened to me also. I had to uncheck swype from the keyboards menu, uninstall swype and the installer, go to the downloads folder and delete any previous swype download files. Then make sure you are installing to internal memory in the cyanogen applications menu. After that i rebooted and went through the installer download and install and the swype download and install. After you install swype wait a second or two for the web browser to reappear and an option to enable swype should pop up. Part of my problem was that I was moving the apk to my system\app folder before it was installed.

What do you mean wait for browser to come up?
After I download and install from the installer, it apparently installs then goes to the done screen. Is the browser supposed to come up after? Or do i need to press done first? If I press done I get an error that swype is already installed, which I'm sure nothing is, and it doesn't work after. It looks like it might be a known bug on swypes forum.
This is what happens every time I try to use the installer and why I always have to install a hacked version. Guess I'll just have to wait for a hacked one of the new version...

How I fixed it was to unchecked the swype keyboard in the language menu uninstalled it then wiped the swype installer information

I tried everything under the sun to get the installer to work, nothing does. It looks like this is a known issue with swype and there is no work around for me.
I just found the new version floating around google and used that one.

This comes straight from one of the Swype reps on their beta forums.
For anyone getting the “Configured for another device” error, please make sure that when you hit “Done” after Swype finishes installing, you wait for the “Enable Swype” window to appear.
DO NOT press the “back” button when you see the “Start Download” button again. The license file is being generated at the time, and exiting the installer will kill the license download.
I had this exact same problem, and this fixed it immediately.
That doesn't work for me. Either hitting the back button our done button results in the same error. Swype is already installed. Once I enable swype, then I get the configured for another device error. Is apparently a known issue with no work around and why I always just use unofficial copies. Less hassle.

what i did was went in to astro and went into the titanium backup folder and deleted everything with swype in it. Then went into settings and unchecked the "unknown sources" checkbox in apps then downloaded the latest swype via the downloader and it worked.

I have no idea how you managed that. If I uncheck unknown sources in the applications menu it does not allow me too load the installer because its not from the market.
I have also used root explorer to eliminate every trace of swype off my system and sd card to no avail.

Most recent is "Swype 2.15.56.14870". (They consider 15 higher than 4 even though it's after a decimal point.)
Just backed up my user apps with Titanium & it said that I would not be able to do a restore. I need to go to Phone settings - Apps - & select "unknown sources". I can't find "unknown sources"!

I just had the same problem a minute ago. Try unchecking the box, exit Tools, go back in and check the box again. That's what fixed it for me.

thanks a lot. this did it.
After dealing with frustration after frustration with apps and HC, I decided to switch over to CM7. I backed everything up with Titanium Backup Pro then did a nandroid, then installed CM7 release 29. Everything went great with the install but I can not restore any of my backed up apps.
When I go to my backup/restore list, then select an app to restore, I get the dialog for app only or app + data. If I hit app only, it comes back and says that "App restore complete" but when I look at my drawer, the app is not there and in TB Pro, it still has the line through the listed app. If I hit restore app + data, I get the message App + Data restore failed. I've tried downloading the apps from the Market, then trying to just restore the data but that doesn't work either. I get the message that says it's complete but when I load the app the first time, no settings have been changed.
I also tried going into root explorer, changing the /system/app directory to R/W but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I've updated su and busybox from within TB and using the stand alone apps. I've tried unmounting and remounting the sd card. I've tried rebooting. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?
I have the nandroid so I can go back to HC and try an alternate backup method but I'd love to get this just to work.
The version of Titanium Backup that I am using is 3.7.4.1.
Thanks.

There are three options in the Problems? menu.
Check Wiki
Update Busybox
Update Superuser
I looked at the wiki and it didn't provide an answer to this problem. I updated Busybox again and Superuser was already updated.
I have TB set to keep 3 backups. I went and did another backup then verified all backup files. Over 100 files, including some that I just backed up under CM7, came up corrupt.
Any ideas why the majority of files backed up are corrupt? Clearly depending on TB to backup apps on the Nook was a bad idea.

I'm having this problem as well. TB has never worked on any of my roms. I usually try to do a lot of searching before I post, I'm usually not the first to have problems. But I can't seem to find a solution anywhere.
I think you have to go into settings and into application settings then tick the box to allow unknown sources.
I had Evernote installed, and they put out an update.
The update downloaded but did not install. Error "-17".
I tried removing Evernote and then installing the full.
That failed for the same reason.
Any ideas?
Try this
1. Open Settings.
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Manage Applications.
4. Select Market (You may have to press Menu > Filter > All to see it)
5. Select Clear cache.
6. Back out of the screen and select Download Manager.
7. Select Clear data.
According to Evernote's website, and the new version doesn't support eclair.

They're in Application Settings. But the points moot, as the Guy above you pointed out they dropped support for Android 2.1. If you really want Evernote you'll have to either upgrade your ROM(or run Froyo or CM7 from a MicroSD) or find the Old version of the App if you already deleted it without making a backup.
