[Q] installing SH3.5. I have JVB. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Samsung S..
It says in my PDA: XWJVB.
I want to install SH3.5.
DO I install CF 3.1 CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS.zip?
it says:
- Install via Odin the CF-Root kernel for your ROM (3.1 for JVK/JVB, 3.2 for JVH)
Help..
And if I want to use Dark core 2.4 insted do I first install that and then the ROM?
Running SH3.2 with CF 3.1 (I think)

Just flash any JVH kernel with CWM you want. The CF-Root is just optional - it is given as recommendation if you go from stock ginger Rom with stock kernel as you need CWM to flash Simple Honey. So you can just use DC 2.4

So I can just flash DC 2.4? then install SH3.5?

New Roms

sorry for the newb questions, but i am finding way to much cross references for rooting and unlocking a bell vibrant could someone help me out I would like to put on a new rom pls.
1. Go to this thread and download JVT. Flash JVT with Odin and make sure re-partition is checked.
2. Go to this thread and download the CF-Root kernel for JVT. Flash the kernel with Odin
3. You should now have stock 2.3.5 with root and CWM installed. Reboot into recovery and use CWM to flash whatever custom ROM you want.
thanks very much just finished and it worked out very well.
2.3.5 and 2.3.6 why not jvu semaphore kernel 2.5.0 and @ oserx o.7.1 rum is the best and fastest rom I had

[Q] Questions- CWM, Kernel, and ROM flashing order

I'm trying to flash a custom ROM + kernel and I'm running into some problems that I need tips for:
The main problem is that I can't easily flash Clockworkmod to do a backup. I'm on ZSJV6, and apparently this has 3e Recovery, which does not allow simply flashing from ROM Manager. Now I read that the answer to this is to flash the custom kernel CF Root- but what I plan to end up with is Darkyrom + Semaphore kernel, and Semaphore has CWM in it anyway. Do I have to flash CF Root -> Darkyrom -> Semaphore in that order?
Second question- If yes, which version of CF Root? I'm on official ZSJV6, and I see no JV6 version.
Third question- Do kernel versions and ROM versions have to match? I see the latest version of Darky is based on JW1, but Semaphore 2.5 is based on JVU. Can they be used together, and if so, does anything need to be done to make them play nice together?
Fourth question- How is JVU newer than JW1?
first - there is an easy enough way to skip the recovery. use this guide and rom first (cant link to it bugger)(go to darkys rom site. look for gti9000. then [ODIN] DarkyROM 10.2 Resurrection GT-I9000. that will put you on to darkys version of cwr. then flash the newer version of darkys rom to get to jv1 and after the semaphore kernal in recovery.
second - i have no idea. im guessing there the same.
3rd. i believe the kernel has to support the android version and the rom has to support the kernel(and vice versa) you can always try it anyway. if it boot loops just flash darkys 10.2 again to get back to basics.
4th - jvu is 2.3.6 and jw1 is 2.3.5 android

[Q] [I9001] will updating to 2.3.6 (from 2.3.3) wipe my kernel and fea mod??

Hi
i have a samsung s+
it is routed and has fea mod(CWR) and sky high kernel if i upgrade to 2.3.6 will i need to reroute and re install both the kernel and fea mod???
Thanks
If you use the normal Odin package it will replace your kernel and the recovery and as it is stock, root will be gone (to route is something completely different). You would have to reinstall those afterwards.
If you flash a modded ROM, it depends - but most likely it will at least replace the kernel with another one (except the custom ROM is also using your current kernel).
Thanks
Thanks for the reply i am a noob and that realy helped i will update to 2.3.6 and then reinstal feamod and sky high kernel!
thanks again

1)you can flash stock GB with root access using mobile odin and everroot option without CF5.6.
2)backup is always a good idea.
3)full wipe option is not a good idea, because we have superbrick bug thingy around. Btw stock GB itself is a wipe.
Hi,
I have quite the same question, but I need more details :
I have a GB kernel with CWM : CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5
I have a rom GB : Rooted_Stock_Odex_N7000XXLC1_FRANCE.rar
I am curently under paranoid v0.4, with original kernel installed by paranoid.
I have mobile odin.
I put all my files on my sdCard.
in which order I have to flash ?
ROm, then kernel ?
kernel then Rom ?
I think Mobile odin will proceed to a reboot after a flash.
thanks
Olivier
