WP7 for Galaxy Tab - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to the Developers out there.
It would really be cool if we could have WP7 on the Galaxy Tab.
My dream of a good Tablet.
Greez

First this does not go in dev section this goes in general
second if you want WP7 on you device then why did u get an android tablet ??

Wrong forum and its never going to happen.

NO! It won't be cool and NO it won't happen!

Why in earth would anyone want to run WP7 on the Galaxy TAB? the OS doesn't even support the full resolution.

Haters gon hate, i think it would be cool for the sake of having it on the device, but i doubt it would ever happen, it the closest youre going to get is the w7 launcher

WP7 is worlds best looking but worst mobile os. it is a shame for ms to release something like that in 2010 except the eye candy parts.

Go buy a WP7 phone. Why buy an android phone and install wp7? Does not make sense.

1. Sorry if it's the wrong Forum
2. I like WP7 and I see a good future for this OS
3. I simply like it, but I would like to have it on a 7 inch Screen.
4. Who say'd that I want to lose Android???? Also my HD2 runs Android, Meego and WP7.

[ROM] WinMo/WinPhone 7 on Nexus One

Hey folks,
im just asking if anyone yet tried a port of windows mobile 6.5.xx or Phone 7 onto our Nexus?
Tig
No point in windows 6.5 that is a downgrade but seven might be worth it.

Well also meego , ubuntu, or windows 98 have been kinda ported, its not that i want it 4 daily Use, but because we can!
Phone 7 might be worth a port though...
Answered something like a thousand times.
It's a closed OS, with proprietary sources. If there will be a phone very similar in specs to Nexus, which will be running this OS - there might be a port. If not - then there won't be.
I don't believe anyone with skills to port WinMo 6.5 from HD2 would waste his time doing it.

Thanks a lot Jack!
The HTC Mozart seems pretty similar to the Nexus
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Yep, I just threw up in my mouth.
There is a ROM of the HTC Mozart in the WP7 thread here, in xda.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794890
If someone with skills want to try...
Could someone direct me to the meego and Ubuntu thread? That would be fun.

I don't think anyone is interested in this, since nexus owner aren't that many..and I think the majority of nexus owners are kind of android fanboys...
Hope i'm wrong, because i'd really like to convert my Nexus in a WP7...until Gingerbread (or whatever) comes
Currently I'm on rods muiu rom and it is great. I would love to try windows 7 on my nexus though. I'm trying to figure out how to get Ubuntu without a computer on my nexus

I think that could be interesting to run WP7 into a Nexus to play a little.
But take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737142
If I could try this....
I know this is off-topic but, someone here knows something about Gingerbread?
Wow the new htc phones are using the same processor as our nexus ones, it seems the hardware in all the phones are generally the same as the nexus one (apart from that extra internal storage). I wonder if porting would be possible
I think that it is possible to take WP7 on a Nexus and I really hope that!
Howewer is not a mystery that the Android Community don't like Windows and Microsoft philosophy...
I like the fact that WP7 is very polished compared to android. Hope it gets ported!
Not likely to happen. MS lawyers will have a c and d on the developer, any involved websites, etc in about two seconds. Think apple stype policing of what is entirely closed source and you can bet your ass heavily defended by flocks of attorney who are paid out of one of the biggest war chests in corporate history. The way is going to be to get a windows phone with an android brother and dual boot. That will likely happen.
Android can be polished you just have to theme it a bit. At first it seems very cruel and industrial to me.

I'd love to see WP7 work on my Nexus One. If it doesn't get ported and it does work on the HD2 I'm probably buying an HD2. Then I can use Android and WP7.

What will be my next phone?

Hey guys,
I'm already thinking of what my next phone will be. I now have the SE Xperia X1 and it's getting boring, you know.
I have some options to choose for:
- Samsung Galaxy Apollo
- Acer BeTouch E130
- Nokia E5
Help will be appreciated
ok.. DO NOT got for a Nokia!.. had 1 for 2 years.. had to keep on flashing ROM every week to keep it fresh, thats how slow it was! The battery is bad, and you will never get any updates.. In my opinion, if the phones had a different OIperation System, then maybe the phnoes would be better..
if you need a phone that has a full QWERTY keyboard, try looking at a BlackBerry since they are the ones that have the most experiance, with their phones..
hTC
HTC sounds good!
I agree with the above posters, HTC.
Better get a Motorola Droid, I have one and it's the best phone I ever saw!
In my opinion..
have a look over here...
Go in for the hTC desire or the newer WP7 devices...Samsung is type of a retard when it comes to applications...If you do something wrong, drop it terribly, you face a heavy loss + 15-20 days of servicing...
WP7 is the great Microsoft fail since Windows Vista. Long live to Android!
Hd2 if ya kno wats good for u
Better get an Android phone. Because Android is the future
Android is the future? Lol
Better get an hTC device capable of running any OS you want: WM/Android/WP7=Leo
This is the future
I was thinking this morning about the Leo yeah, you can run Android and WinMo on it but I have a question about Android.
On my current phone when I run android the battery runs out very fast (also on Windows Mobile). My question is, is the battery life good on the Leo? (android)
I think Iphone is best .......What next after this .

first version of a brand new OS and it's already better than android 1.0 with more apps than android had at launch.

Battery life is now about the same on android and winmo.
to the OP, take the big plunge, get a wp7 device. Already has quite a few apps and the phones are very smooth. Be different.
Remember, my maximum is 245 euros.
I can buy it second hand!

Go for an SGS device, the Super AMOLED will make you cry tears of joy
Galaxy S? Second hand it's about 300 euros man .
The new HTC hd7 you'll probably be able run whatever on it like the hd2 and it had Windows 7

I would recommend the Samsung Vibrant or that S7 phone!

No, but why do you want Symian when you can have Android??

i moved from symbian to android and i found symbian more comfortable ...and it would be fun to port symbian ^3 to our device ...

porting something less popular, and less useful, and less customisable is fun ??
Dual boot is possible, But extremely difficult. It has not been done successfully YET... and by that i mean, its not been done to the point where it is useable.
Maybe in future it could be an option, But with sooo many SGS 1 users upgrading to the SGS 2 .... i dont think the DEV will want to spend soo much time on a device that wont be as popular in 6 months time
Haha someone wants to use symbian and currently has android that's new also ios also suvks in front of android! Android is hands down the best is in the race and pls never compare something like symbian to android!

kernel: galaxian

Sure it can be done; if Nokia and Apple choose to cooperate with Samsung.
Will it be done? Answer is: 99.9% chance it will not be done.
A much more valid question if the SGS 1 will receive another updated beyond 2.3.x
Even that cannot be answered yet.
While you are at it why not port Psion to the i9000 as well.
I love me some ASCII art!
LOL guys i know that android os is much better than both ios 4/5 and symbian^3 belle
but i was curious about dualboot option in our device and some say that its possible but the developers wont spend time on our device because they all gonna upgrade to sgs2
but when it will happend (that dual boot thing) cause every time there will be new phones and new firmwares so at some point the devs most try the dualboot on our or sgs2 device why not if its possible ??

WP8 on Nexus 7

Anyone here think it can be done? I'm looking to get one, but it would be really nice if WP8 can be installed on it. Even WP7.8 would be nice.
I tried asking this in the Nexus 7 section, but the Android fanboys there just kept pestering me about why I'd want to change to WP. It got annoying after a while. Thought I'd ask here, where there'd be more enthusiasm for the idea.

O_O Windows phone 8?....on a Asus Nexus 7 tablet? WHY? not even microsoft has made one (and for good reason....it wouldnt make a good tablet UI on its own). Id think that if anything....you would want windows 8 on it seeing as how thats got that awful metro UI AND full bown access to the windows OS. Also im gonna say no, windows phone 8 is less open source and less popular than android or iOS so I dont think its attracting the proper amount of developers that it would need to accomplish such a feat (if possible anyway). But what do i know....im just an "android fanboy"

the hd2 is not a android device
Based on the information at the below wp8 won't be installing on anything it wasn't intended for:
"These new Windows Phone 8 security features also make it obvious as to why Windows Phone 8 will not run on current Windows Phone devices… they lack a chip that has been burned with security keys for the platform, OEM, and device."

i would run it

WP8 on Android [Everything you could possibly do,even Launchers etc.]

Hey guys, first of all I am hoping that some of you don't get offended or anything, yes i love android and all that but i also love wp8 like a style ( metro ),and yes I tried launchers and all that to customize my phone ( not the real thing of course.Anyway i am starting this thread to see if anyone could make a rom based on wp8.I heard also that the new wp8 phones will have the dual core processor and HD screen so i guess there should be no problen with that to work.Anyway if someone could possibly make this even if its payable i would pay.And please dont tell me:Go get WP8 or something like that...
Thanks

You can't go beyond launchers and roms with skins, forget it.
Either use Android skinned as WP8 (with some work this can resemble the true thing) , or use WP8 itself and stay there for eternity.
WP8 is closed source.
Ok than, fair enough does anyone know any wp8 launcher or skin??

Windows Phone 8 has not even been released yet so never mind a loader (and I dont see that happening). Your asking for a WP8 skin for Android in a Windows Phone area ?
Sorry man, you need to go to the Android area. Not trying to beat up what you already said but, Your asking Android questions in a WP area, wrong place for this question.
Good luck, wait till WP8 comes out and get a WP8 device, then you dont have to deal with a loader that is even if anyone makes one.
