Hi everyone, i updated to JVO, im having a bad network reception and im unable to connect 3g. I already manually type in the APN networks just as they are in my captivate running froyo and like they were in the phone using froyo but i only see the edge symbol.
if anyone can help me fix this it would be awesome.
do i have to change the modem? and how? got heimdall and odin...
if it cannot be fixed how i move back again to froyo? with odin just the same way i installed gingerbread?
i got the JVO from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
and i rooted it using this instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093155
modems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
PD:since update i cant enter recovery mode but i can enter download mode
EDIT:
my phone is a GT-I9000T i think that might be the source of all my problems should i go back to froyo?
is darky rom the solution?
i was reading in another website that darkys rom was fixing i9000T problems but my question is can i install just the modem from darkys rom?
decided to go back to froyo JPY that was working 100% until more GB firmwares come out, hopefully one will work for GT-I9000T gingerbread was so fast for the short time i had it
You could just flash your default modem after upgrading to GB... I am on a Bell Canada modem from 2.2 but I am on a European Version of 2.3.3.. I get way better reception
didnt knew i could mix the modem of previous versions, but thxs for the information

I got one of the Brazil/LatinAmerica I9000T phones running in the US/AT&T 3G:
Product code GT-I9000HKTTTT
PDA: I9000TUBJG5
PHONE: I9000TUBJG7
CSC: I9000TUUBJG4
Im concerned that upgrading may screw up my radio files. My phone has the 3 US/AT&T 3G bands 850/1900/200 that most of the I9000s dont. Can I just upgrade the PDA to a 2.2 ROM and leave the PHONE/CSC as is? If so can I upgrade that PDA to ANY ROM?
Im also concerned that since I have the latin american phone with brazil firmware on it, and it says on bootup that its a I9000T but its not the I9000B model that the MUST READ describes as a brazil model... So Im not sure what all pit files and ROMs that are safe to use.
Optimally, when I do upgrade to 2.2, should I try to use a MODEM and CSC file from the US/AT&T/Captivate 2.2 files, and use whatever PDA ROM I choose? That seems in my head to be what to shoot for but I'm still figuring things out here...
Also, Im confused... these ROMs Im seeing are installed via update.zip, not by the ODIN method. Will I screw up my phone by installing these update.zip files?
Is there a free method to totally back up my PDA/PHONE/CSC into individual files that could be restored later?
Hello Friend.
I have the same version of phone, and I´m looking to for "original" firmware.
You've got the original firmware?
Did you guys found a solution for.. i also have the same version...
Hello everybody
Have you guys loked here?

I downgraded to 2.1 with the i9000T stock rom
Now that 2.2.1 is out for the i9000HKTTTT (i9000TUBJP9), I wanted to see if KIES would now work. After downgrading to 2.1update 1 using ODIN ,everything appears work fine on the phone. I tried updating to 2.2.1 via KIES and still get the message "This Device's version can't be upgraded" . I tried this on a few different computers with KIES 1.5 & 2.0 and no luck.
I did do a Factory reset *2767*3855# , but still no luck.
All information on the phone appears to be OK for 2.1 update 1.
I did notice in Kies if you apply the Registry Patcher and use code CWW, you will get a different message which shows that it's currently up to date. Maybe meaning, Jamaica has not received their updates yet.
Any ideas. Very frustrating. Just trying to get this phone back to stock so it can receive updates when I give to another family member.
GT-i9003
By any chance any one have a link for the latin America Stock rom for the I9003... I write in this tread since is the closer one I found about LatinAmerican Roms.
It sims there are only Europeans, Asians, Arabic and the US rom.
I installed every one and each of them. the signal was fading in and out, and I was only getting edge.
so any one with the I9003 Latin america Stock Rom?
Hey Guys,
I had flashed 2.3.3 JVK Gingerbread to my Canadian Bell Samsung i9000m. Since the flash my cellular signal is extremely poor. Getting 0-1 bar in places I would normally get 4-full on Froyo. With JVK the phone is extremely fast, email app has stopped constantly force closing and for the first time, gps works great! This is why I didn't just want to flash back to Froyo to fix the cell signal issue. I had been told by a member here to ensure that [8]WCDMA 850(FDD V)[*] in the band settings had a star in it. It did not, I had selected it and rebooted, star is now there with no change in signal strength.... So this is my question, am I going to have to flash back to froyo to fix this and once again live without GPS? Or is there a work-around or setting to fix signal strength. ANY help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

NA Bell i9000m Vibrant
Flashed to 2.3.3 JVK Gingerbread with Odin with new Bootloaders, no PIT/Repartition.
EVERYTHING else works perfect, except cellphone signal.
**FIXED**
Flashed the KC1 (Bell Canada Update) modem.bin via odin. I now get full signal (84dB) where I had previosly had none. (2.3.3. Modem). Gps working great. Phone still fast as hell.
Also just a follow up, I tried the JL2 modem first but gps failed to lock. Thanks for the advice though the 850mhz was the key!
No no no! Its just your modem, you can flash any modem toy like!
Go for jl2 as it is 850mhz by default.
Just find the jl2 modem. If its a zip then extract modem.bin and place in the pda section of odin. Flash away! If its a .tar file just put this straight in.

thanks for the quick reply. So the modem type has nothing to do with gps?? Also, how safe is it to flash the modem from another firmware? thanks again for all the help dude.. I apologize in advance for any truly stupid questions haha..

Yes you can use any froyo modem.
As for gps... I hear conflicting reports about that. Jl2 tho has great gps from reports.
I found jvk modem to drain heaps standby. Im guessing that without 850mhz band your phone is using a fallback band with worse reception. Ll2 should sort this out

So is the JL2 from 2.2.1?, as with the 2.2 Froyo, my gps was not just being slow, but not functioning at all (0 Locked sat's).
Also, where would I obtain this modem file, and how is it flashed. I ran a search and noticed that some member state it goes into the PDA field in ODIN and other stating it goes into the PHONE field. Also, I have not modified the bootloader,(Stock came with 2.3.3) and I am unsure weather it could be flashed using the update method. As this is my work phone, I need to be sure I will not brick it. Once again, sorry for all the questions, the help is GREATLY appreciated.
**EDIT**
Also, when going into the *#2263#, the 850 Band is listed in both the GSM and CDMA areas, both with a corresponding star in the box beside them. Not sure if this means the band is actually there or not. One thing I am sure of is the fact that with FROYO my signal was perfect, with GPS non existant and phone generally SLOW, with 2.3.3 EVERYTHING is working great with the exception of the cell signal strength. Speed is incredible.
Ah glad to hear you sorted it out! Being half canadian myself I was glad I helped.

I just recently upgraded my phone to Gingerbread, since then i have been having problem to receive an Incoming calls
when I have an incoming call, the phone does not ring or, vibrate or even show the incoming call screen. the only thing I can see is the little icon next to 3G icon on the top of the screen showing there is an incoming call and the screen will be blank. non either call accept or reject page will show instead it will show blank page and the network bar will be lost.

Hi all.
After alot of research and some aid from XDA and Whirlpool, I finally flashed to stock Optus 2.1 FW, managed to change my CSC from KOR to OPS which enabled me to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2.1 official Optus FW in Kies. Hooray.
I have used Gingerbread before; I forget which files I used to do so. When I was in 2.3.3 my 3G Internet would not work, nor would it in Darky's Rom v10 (still on 2.3.3). I have now downgraded to 2.2.1 (Optus' official firmware) and my 3G Internet works perfectly.
My question is - why has this happened? Is it because the 2.3.3 FW doesn't support my phones modem? Does anyone know which 2.3.3 FW from samfirmware will support my modem so that my 3G Internet will work on Gingerbread? Is there any research I can conduct so I download the right Gingerbread FW to flash through ODIN?
Thanks in advance, and sorry if I made no sense.
-Gee.
Probably your APN's got deleted after flashing. Have you checked that?
Yeah I just read up about it a few minutes ago, seems I need to input the APN settings manually. Will this work?
it should, try it... takes 2 mins.
Stash this away into your firmware collection.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S6NMLH8W OPS csc.
If you flash a 3 file firmware, just replace the csc with this and you won't have to enter any apn's ever again.
not all CSC work for GB right now...
The above posted csc has worked on every Gingerbread build that I have flashed.
Thanks Electrotune1200. Will that CSC also keep my product code as OPS? What gingerbread build are you on?
It will keep your product code XSA, which is Australia.
And at setup, will give you the option of Optus or Virgin network.

Sometimes mobile networks don't like your phone, try to put it on airplane mode, and then back to normal mode, this has helped me before on similar cases.
Search for Perka's stash for modem files.
Hey guys,
I have a problem with my phone, it is a Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I have android 2.3.6 running, it is stock firmware. Now i don't know the original firmware that was on it, and it was flashed with a custom rom before. I reflashed stock firmware which was:
Buildnumber: gingerbread.XWJVH
android version: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000XXJVO
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL 184813 [email protected] #2
I then updated via Samsung Kies, and came to this firmware:
Buildnumber: gingerbread.XWJW1
android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: I9000XXJVT
and its stock kernel (dont remember it)
I then flashed the most recent speedmod kernel for galaxy s:
kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 [email protected] #k16-11 (i used it to root my phone)
Now the problem is that the custom rom that was flashed was a 4.0 android rom. It worked, but then one time when the phone was just on (standby) it suddenly shutdown, and wouldn't boot back up. I tried reflashing the rom using the same (CWM) method as before but it still booted a black screen whenever i started it up. I then flashed another rom which did work. Eventually i went back to a stock rom and this is why:
I have a bad signal everywhere, with every modem (tried several, all for my region). I do not know exactly at which point the signal problems started in this story, but i need help fixing it. I do know that at the original firmware that was on the phone, signals were good.
With a bad signal I mean that I have zero, one or 2 bars reception, 3 bars when im at the attic of our house, and also a lot of times outside I have no service at all (at places where I should be having it).
-I already tried restoring the nv_data.bin from the .bak file.
-I already tried flashing different modems which i am sure of are for my region
-I am using a XEN csc file (im living in the netherlands)
-I already tried messing around with the band selection in service mode of the phone.
-My original IMEI is INTACT!
-My original product code is INTACT!
NOTHING WORKED!!!
I need help please, i thank the ones reading this entire story till the end! and I thank everyone for his or her response (hoping there are gonna be some)
Bump
Does nobody know the problem, since the topic has views but no replies? Can anyone help please?
it could be a hardware problem too..... !!!!! u better try different stock roms or different custom roms....... if there is still no solution then you should take your phone to the service center.
best of luck
@ zamiurratul
Yes I thought of that too, i'm having a handy friend of mine check out the antenna this evening, i'll report back on that later.

have any backups? have you tried flashing a different rom? does your provider use 850 band? if no backups try a different rom, if provider uses 850 band try
jl2 modem or jk4. if your using cm or miui rom make sure the modems you are using are made for those roms.

OK, thanks this is first step.
Downloaded yaff explorer to browse my backup.
Where do I find my modem from backed up system?
And where can I find a flashable version of the modem?
Or alternatively, how do I know if my carrier uses 850?
Or, how can I find compatible modems for my ROM (ICS team)+ carrier?

As for backup you'd have to restore the whole rom you were on previously. Either through ROM manager or in recovery.
