A pretty gutsy claim, yes.
But I've been typing with this kbd for 2 days now, and I gotta say that with the general impreciseness of our screens, this keyboard allows me to type 50% faster than any other kbd on the market.
It has predictive text, but also searches for words that go with the prior word typed.
It also has the ability to learn from your typing style by analyzing your sms, text, gmail and facebook messages.
I highly recommend this keyboard for ALL zio owners.
You can download it @:

Very nice but at 17mb it eats up alot of ram. I'll give it a try for a while longer and see how well it really works.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
Its a beta release, so there are going to be bugs Im sure. Works 100% for me, and Im tellin ya, its far superior to all kbds I've tried. Even ultra kbd 0.o
Yeah, it does take up a little more RAM, but for the functionality, and the responseness of the program, I dont mind. Also being as it is a beta release, there might be some more code trimming to be done that will reduce the amount of ram.
But, If you think about it, its one of the most important apps for your phone; your keyboard. With that said, I wouldnt mind if it took up 20-25Mb, as long as it performs just as it does now. With my ROM installed, Im still at 55Mb-60Mb free RAM with it installed (and thats NOT stock -- on an established system).
I got the Language pack Error as well. Go into Settings/Language Profile/Language and download the English or whatever language you use.
I have purchased swift key and have been using it for over a year now. I rarely need to use more than two or three key strokes per word. The way it predicts the next word is simply amazing. Hands down the best keyboard replacement out there. Those of you who are using the beta version and having trouble with it should try the 30 day trial of swift key without the X available on the market.

Download the English language pack by opening SwiftKey X from your app drawer.

Funny thing is I bought the program a year ago but hardly used it, way quicker than smart keyboard.

Nice to see you guys comin' around to SwiftKey. i've been using it for quite a while and got in on the VIP/beta program for 2/X. It's gotten better and better over the last several months.
Option to apply skins is planned, too, FYI.
After using this keyboard for about two weeks, all I can say is SIMPLY AMAZING. The way it predicts words is phenomenal I rarely even have to type anything as it pieces together sentences for me almost flawlessly. I highly recommend this to anyone frustrated by the lame stock keyboards from android, or I would put it against any of the slide, swype style keyboards any day.
SwiftKey was super slow on my Zio. I'm not sure why everybody has such luck with it. Smart Keyboard Pro is way faster and uses up less memory. The text prediction really does suck though
Check out ThickButtons. Free. Best for zio IMO
Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and say swiftkey speech to text for the win I'm using it right now

I believe the Zio was promised Swype with 2.2 but it never happened. And sorry ahead of time if it's against some kind of ToS to post link to Apps that aren't necessarily free or paid, but in beta

Dude thanks. I have been looking for swype everywhere. It's a little slow but not too annoying. It's faster on my sisters Evo but maybe it's a hardware issue. Or maybe I just have a slow phone.
You can chose to change the way Swype responds in the options

Im an Ultra Keyboard Fanboy, sadly..
Ultra keyboard has swype capabilities (called tracing), that is just as good as swypes, but ultra kbd is so much more customizable than swype. More responsive as well imo.
Give it a shot.
Ya I'll check it out, I'm just getting used to using swype without error, I don't like how I have to choose my words to make it work.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
have been wanting to try swype...but using slideIt and have had zero probs with it...tried a bunch and settled down with it ..the trace works awesome.
Yeah all that is customizable through ultra kbd settings. You trace, then hit space and it will choose the default word. It'll still give you options, but in a horizontal menu, instead of vertical.
Word prediction is stellar as well

The process took less then 2 minutes from registering to downloading - have it now and about to install.
Looks ok.
I think Thumb Keyboard has a lot more functionality (directional keys, readily accessible punctuations, @ symbol, parentheses, .com key with extras [.net, .org, .etc) when longpressed and all other 'tabbed' symbols just require a longpress, too.
Just MHO.
Here are some screen shots just not a big fan of the full screen text input. Would also like split me keyboard in portrait.

It needs some work still, I was on a closed beta (which I think I can admit), and of course, now use the open beta available on the forum.
But despite the issues with sizing and the alternate keys for symbols and stuff, the predictive text is still like the number one need when typing on a tablet, and it is so much more useful than stock. I don't use split mode atm, because of the key sizes, but I'm hoping I'll like that once they get it worked out.

The common theme seems to be the small buttons are an issue. Hopefully they will make th necessary adjustments.
I'm sure they will, it was among the first comments in the closed beta. I'm using standard layout for now.
Also, nobody can deny... SwiftKey's style on the Xoom is freaking awesome.

I like this new keyboard! I'm not a fan of the swyping technology even though I have touchpal curve.
This keyboard's service runs 22 MB though! Don't know if that's normal but that seems like it may drain battery.

After reading various reviews about this keyboard, i've decided to stay away from it. Some users have reported huge battery drains. Aside from this, it appears that every keystroke is uploaded to the developer's cloud server, with no explanation given. Sounds like a keylogger to me.

I also was able to get a beta copy of this TouchPal keyboard, but for some reason it conflicted with my hardware keyboard by disabling my shift and "secodary yellow" button :\ and since I'm a big keyboard user, that was my only reason to uninstall that keyboard. Opinions on keyboards for the nexus 7?
You'll get so many different answers, try the free versions.
Swiftkey 3 for me though since you ask.
It told me earlier it'd saved me 10,000 keystrokes on my mobile and over 5,000 on nexus already.
Try thumb keyboard. Its great in landscape mode, and you can customize the keyboard as well!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I also suggest SwiftKey 3. One of the advantages for me is that it offers word suggestions and auto-correct in up to 3 languages at the same time. It also has the option for arrow keys at the bottom in the phone version.

I'll cosign Swiftkey. In landscape mode it's almost perfect, and works well enough that I feel natural using it. I still finding it surprising that I lke it so much considering my phone has a physical keyboard and I formerly used Swype as the alternative.

Torn between swype and swift key on the nexus 7 myself. I use swype on my galaxy tab 10.1 and love it there but it can't touch the predictive accuracy of swift key. On my HTC One X I use swift key which I'd like to use on my nexus 7 but its buggy in Chrome for some reason.
