Ok, so I was browsing around and found a way to play Tegra 2 games (most of them at least), on the Nexus S (and other strong Android devices).
Let's begin then:
1: Download this.
And place it at your SD card.
2: Go to the Android market and download an app called: Chainfire 3D. [LINK]
3: Download root explorer from the android market, and go to /system/build.prop.
Then open the build.prop file in any text editor and change the line that says: ro.product.device=crespo to ro.product.device=olympus and save it.
4: Open Chainfire 3D and select the Install option, then reboot.
5: After the reboot, open the Chainfire 3D app, and press: Install Plugin, and select the Nvidia file we downloaded in step 1.
6: Then go to Default OpenGL settings, and press: Use Plugin, and select the Nvidia plugin, and reboot again.
7: Play all the Tegra 2 games you want.
I have tested it with Fruit Ninja THD. (framecapped at 62.5 FPS)
I cannot guarantee that it will work with any weird games you try on it.
And, I am not responsible if you **** anything up.
Remember to take a backup of your build.prop file and be careful.
Also: If you want to go back, just go to the chainfire app and press Use Plugin, and then press None.
Hope it helped
How did you get the market to find the Tegra games? I changed the build.prop, figured that is what would allow this. Im using the Nexus S 4 g by the way.
Thanks

Found the Tegra Zone, however whenever I try to install a game it says "not found". I'm running MIUI, maybe I should try returning to stock and then try again. Any other ideas?
Did you do everything that was said in the OP? If yes, just try another ROM, I'm on the latest CM kang and it's working brilliantly.
Oh, and did you press fix market settings in the Chainfire 3D app?
3: Download root explorer from the android market, and go to /system/build.prop.
Then open the build.prop file in any text editor and change the line that says: ro.product.device=crespo to ro.product.device=olympus and save it.
is not needed if you have chainfire PRO.
i recomand you guys buying it.
anyways.i already knew this for a damn long time.

riptide gp
samurai II vengeance.

Chainfire is great...
As for tegra games on the market. I wouldn't support these developers who lock out the rest of the android community with non tegra devices games are easy to find the games online for free
I dont usually condone piracy but I look at is they wont be losing money since none tegra devices cant purchase/run the games anyways.
chainfire also works with xplay games that run on qualcomm
here are the plugins for tegra and qualcomm
extract place folder with zipped files on SD

I, too, did not pay for the games. Nvidia are a bunch of greedy bastards that force people buy phones with their GPUs, while our PowerVRs run these games smoothly and without any problems. I''m almost done with samuray II vengeance (great game, stuck at the last level where I can't kill the fat guy in red armor, those archers are killing me) and I started playing guerrilla bob THD which runs like a champ as well. Any other fun games you guys would recommend?

Ooooh, there is the problem then
I can't see any THD games in the market, even from tegra zone app. I can run them but market still sees my phone as a regular one, without tegra.
I changed that file in root explorer, installed the plugins within chainfire and rebooted, fixed market settings and rebooted again, same story: can't see THD games.
The PC version of android market can see the app (obviously), but I can't select my Device, its unclickable.

Rerun Eris, reboot and let your phone startup normaly, then shutdown, then boot to recovery mode and click "wipe/clean cache"
Then give it about 10 mins for the paid apps including your Caligo to appear..
What games aren't on the market.
I was just wondering what high end games or apps might be out there that aren't on the market. I just found out about gameloft are there others? Also has the unreal engine 3 made its way to android yet I was looking around and found only older articles saying it might be. The technology demo for it on the I phone look amazing.

From experience, the games from Gameloft aren't on the market. You have to buy them directly from their website. These games include N.O.V.A. HD, UNO HD, Avatar HD, etc etc. There are around 10 or so "HD" games that all have pretty good graphics. I'm not too sure how they are gameplay-wise but I've heard a lot about N.O.V.A... Check out videos on Youtube for this and other Gameloft games.
If you aren't from one of the countries that the full Android market is available in, then you won't be seeing ALOT and you won't be seeing the paid games if that's what you've been searching for. There's a sim emulator app floating around somewhere that would bypass that and as long as you have a valid credit card then you'd be able to buy games and stuff from the market and from gameloft.
Dunno about any really great free games that aren't on the market though..
Hope that helped!
Thanks for the reply. I'm in Canada so I get paid apps but like you said gameloft games arent on the market and if you didn't read form like xda or use apps like buzz you would never know they exist. So I'm wondering if there are other companys out there the have games that aren't on the market free or paid.

I found Gameloft games through Youtube actually. So far, that's pretty much all I know that isn't in the Android market. It's taking some time for the big developers out there to roll out Android versions of their games but I know of a lot that are working towards that. Expect though that as soon as they do have something, they'd release it via the Android market since that's the main form of distribution for those things anyway. I have no idea why Gameloft chose to ignore the Android market way of distributing games. I guess they want to handle piracy issues their way.
The Android market isn't as strict as the App Store of Apple. That's why there are a lot of other sources of iOS apps out there that provide apps and games not in or not yet in the App store (since they weren't approved or are taking a while to be approved).
You dont need to pay all the gameloft game..just search at 4shared.com 4 example nova.apk.. But i've a problem to install the other game data to memory card because after preinstallation at hp it required install the game data to memory card..anyone can help me please..

I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to be encouraging piracy in this forum.
TigerMAME on the Gtablet plays CPS1, CPS2 and all Neo Geo games. It plays all games full speed with sound. Droid X chokes on games like Metal Slug and King of Fighters 99.
I have tested every rom for CPS1, CPS2 and Neo Geo over the weekend (really). EVERY game works perfectly.
Gamers need to get this ASAP TigerMAME 1.31 is curent version. The app sucked up until 1.3, but since then, it is amazing.
Proably best for the dev to rename it Final Burn, since more that than a true MAME.
A+ none the less!
i'm sorry but what exactly is tigermame? is it an emulator, i can't find it in the market.. also i got wiimote to work over the weekend and have been playing some games. my experience the games have been very laggy and choppy. my incredible plays them much better. i'm on zpad, i wonder if i'm doing something wrong or i'm on the wrong rom
I'd prefer a plain version of MAME instead. I like the older games versus the JAMMA (CPS, CPS2, NeoGeo) stuff.
I found it, I had to search mame not tigermame.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Silly question, but how do you control the game? is it all on the touch screen?
Weird. I found Tigermame by typing "tiger" but have the near full market working.
TigerMAME is a multi arcade game emulator. This is more like Final Burn, whose focus is Capcom games (CPS1 & CPS2) and Neo Geo.
This app and PSX4Droid show how much more powerful the Tegra 2 is over the 3630 (Archos 70 & 101).
If you search for the game sets I refer to above, you can easily find lists and download links for the roms. Everyone of them works perfectly. For Neo Goe games, make sure to put the neogeo.zip file in the same directory as the game zips or Neo Geo games will not work (it is a bios file)
Touch screen is better than I thought it would be, but still no match for hardware inputs.
The app is free.
I also have psx emulator and it its laggy too. Maybe its the rom I'm on or maybe I need to reboot before I play. But yes the tegra2 should smoke the snap dragon.

Just Google scph1001.bin for psx4droid and u should find it. Once u download it place it in your psx folder on Da SD card. Now when it asks u to get that file it should be in there
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE
in order to play psx games they have to be downloaded and extracted on a desk or laptop. Doing this from ur phone will cause the games to not download correctly. I don't know the exact step by step instructions but I do know what you need. U need a program that extracts the psx games. U can usually Google it and u should find something to help u with this. Than the most important part is finding a program called (UN ECM). Once u get done downloading and extracting ur game of choice, you then drag and drop it ON TOP of the UN ECM program wherever its located on ur computer. The reason for this because the program doesn't open, u can just drag and drop stuff on top of it. Once all that is said and done there should be a data.bin file wherever u originally saved the game. U can rename this file but don't delete data.bin, jus put game title prior to the word data. Once u do that, then put the game file in the psx folder on your Droid.
In order to be successful u should do research. The info I gave u is generally correct but hey, ur Da one that has to complete the task. Let me know how it works out. Good Luck

Thanks... I am looking more into it, its running .. looking for roms now
Sadly, the current version of PSX4Droid (1.7) is MUCH slower than 1.5 and 1.6. 1.5 seems the best version of the app for speed.
Games play a lot slower on 1.7, so not a good rep for the app and the Gtablet's performance. 1.5 version IS a good rep.
As far as TigerMAME, how the dev went from a bad app to one of the best in such a short time period and a few updates is amazing.
Every single game and rom version works perfectly for speed, graphics and sound.
1 CPS1
2 CPS2
3. Neo Geo
That is a few hundred real arcade games playing just as well on the Gtablet.... Though the V-pad is better than expected, it would be nice if a USB gamepad could be read.....
i tried running psx 1.5 but it does not load the bios that worked for 1.7. is there another bios or something?

For me, version 1.7 is slow on the Gtablet and super crazy slow on the Incredible. 1.5 is about twice as fast. I can get some good playtime with the v-pad, but playing platform games is an issue. Actually doing better than I thought with some games.
Correct though- we need the ability to use a game pad.
I'm trying to spark some interest as to why tnt is making us use their keyboard, there has to me a hack or a mod to fix this issue.

Got this yesterday and I have to say that this is one of the best games I've played on the GTab. Smooth, looks fantastic and sounds great. Well worth the $5.00.
It's like this game was engineered specifically to be run on a Gtab or something. It's truly awesome! Great fun and even nicer then it was on the i-anything.
Can one of you folks that have been able to purchase and download the game tell me how you went about getting it? The simple answer to that question is no. They made the game specifically to be run on Tegra Based Devices. It's in the "more info" section on the market.

Same. VEGAn 5.11.
I have been hitting a roadblock with trying to get 9mm to run on my touchpad.
So far I have been working from the instructions here:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/7709-gameloft-compatibility-thread-with-working-version-s/
There is a copy on XDA as well but they both do the same thing. Normally I get all pink/red textures. Using the instructions I get all black/white textures.
According to everything I can find the setup listed "should" work, but it does not for me. I think I am missing some steps, but trying to search for "9mm" does not come up with much.
I see mention about getting the Tegra version of the game but nobody says how to do this. I assume it has to do with an edit to build.prop but so far the exact edit is something I cannot find.
Thanks
I have the same issues. I was able to get rid of the pink and actually get the correct graphics. The game starts to go black after the intro though. I wonder if getting the full version of chainfire would help. Any suggestions?
Sent from my GT-i9100 using Tapatalk
I am running the full version and have had no luck at all. For me I get black textures for everything on the Nvidia plugin. Pink for every other setting.
I have seen it listed as working but so far nobody will actually post how they got it to work.
At least I only invested .99 . Not a huge loss if I cant get it running.
Ok, I got a bit closer last night in getting this running. I can now watch the opening movie without any texture distortion but after that the game locks up. Sound still plays fine.
Oddly my live wallpaper also starts crashing, making me wonder if I am hitting a memory cap. I do run V6 supercharger so I can make adjustments to the limits.
What I did, and it is based on posts linked in the original thread and some serious expiramentation.
1 - Delete the 9MM game folder from /sdcard/gamelof/ I believe it has the letters 9MM in it.
2 - Change your build.prop. Model: PG86100 Brand: Sprint
3 - Reboot
4 - Start 9MM. let it download the files, mine were about 800MB
5 - Restore you build.prop . This will vary depending on your rom.
6 - Another reboot
Like I said this starts to play for me then locks up. I have not played much with all the plugins and drivers in Chainfire3D so the solution may be in there someplace. This may also not be the best way to get it running...but so far it is the closest I can get

Basically what you would need to do is to pick a popular Tegra 2 device that Gameloft supports and Google for the build.prop of that devices. If you're not sure which devices are Tegra 2 check wikipedia and if you aren't sure which devices Gameloft supports check their site, but in general they like the big mobile carriers like Samsung, HTC and Motorola but ignore others like Asus, so don't pick the Transformer build.prop.
In this case I would say go for the Xoom build.prop edits and I did Google Xoom and 9mm and verified people with the Xoom are saying it works on their device.
In this case, a Google search for Xoom build.prop should bring up some useful results. Having done that the relevant edits you want will be:
ro.product.model=
ro.product.brand=
ro.product.name=
ro.product.device=
In the case of the Xoom you would want the following edits:
ro.product.model=Xoom
ro.product.brand=verizon
ro.product.name=trygon
ro.product.device=stingray
The other thing you will want to do is use Chainfire set to the Tegra 2.
The build.props should get you the Tegra data and then Chainfire should (hopefully) translate it run properly.
Again, I haven't tried all this but I have done similar edits for other Gameloft games.
That is the type of information I was looking for, thank you thank you thank you
I have Wifi issues when I reboot at work so I will try this when I get home tonight and report back.

Had my phone for a few weeks now. And had the VJraider rom on for a few days and really liking this phone. One thing I noticed though is the lack of availability of some of the bigger games. The phone came packed with N.O.V.A but can't get it off the market and notice there aren't really any of the big Gameloft games available. Looked at chainfire but it seems s-off is needed for it to work with HTC devices. I also have an acer a500 which I have already bought some games. Am I able to get the apk file off that and run it on the Raider? Or do you guys have some recommendations on good games for the Raider/Vivid?

Chainfire3D actually does work as it only needs root, not S-Off. However, the main reasons why some of the games from Gameloft aren't available is really because of the qHD resolution on our device. Most of Gameloft's games are made for devices with WVGA or lower, otherwise since you have already purchased game, the market will allow you to download it again to your new device.

I don't know that its strictly based on the resolution. I previously had an atrix 4g which is also qhd. The main difference between the two is the CPU. I had purchased Asphalt 6 on my atrix and it ran perfectly fine. When I open it on my vivid, it tells me its not compatible. I think they simply need to add the vivid to a configuration file. Probably a 2 minute fix that will take gameloft 6 months to fix.

Installed Chainfire and got GTA 3 running nicely but still no luck with the the bigger gameloft games. I read other phones have similar issues and changing the model in the build.prop usually works. Is moddifing the build.prop in that manner somewhat easy? Haven't managed to find a guide on editing it in that manner for the vivid. And if I do that what would be a good model to change it to.. the sensation? Reading over some threads on the gameloft forums just makes it seem like they are a bit lazy on adding compatibility which is really annoying.
gun bros is good, shadow gun is good too
I wanna play modern combat 3 but couldn't find a way to do it, i have heard editing build.prop works but i m not sure
