For arch users who wants to fastboot it's quite simple.
aur package here then add the udevd rule from the comment (gt540 duh) to "/etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules".
Get fastboot binary from eg. htc and finaly when in fastboot do as sudo "sudo ./fastboot command file".

Why can't I download certain mms it tells me download was unsuccessful I don't get it. I'm running aosp rom latest version and handcent app.

its a bug running our heros on froyo
There's no fix?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
only fix I know is run sense based rom. As far as a fix for froyo others will need to chime in.

I've never heard of this bug nor had any problems with MMS
If you're having problems with mms try clearing out the telephony database
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
rm /data/data/com.*.*.telephony/databases/telephony.db
adb reboot
Can u give me a little step by step please? I really just know the basics on this phone thanks

Acutally seeing as the majority of rooted people probably just use the 'one click' apps it'd be easier to do this via Terminal Emulator.
Download Termial Emulator if you don't already have it on your phone
Open up terminal emulator
Then type out the following code box (at the end of each line you press 'Enter')
Code:
su
rm /data/data/com.*.*.telephony/databases/telephony.db
reboot

The location should exist...unless it was typed incorrectly or you have an incomplete flash /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ should definitely be there.
If you have root explorer or estrongs files explorer with root access you can navigate to that location and delete using those apps too. Rebooting will rebuild the telephony.db file after its deleted.
If you still are having problems trying to find the database file send me a PM and I'll help you out when I can on gtalk.
Edit: Do this, open up terminal emulator and enter these lines in
Code:
su
cd /data/data/com.*.*.telephony/databases
ls
You should get a return line saying
Code:
mmssms.db telephony.db
And then reboot phone?

If you're referring to my previous post where you navigate to the directory and enter "ls" to list the files in that directory, then no. Thats just to see if the files are indeed there.
If they are, then you should do that "rm" command I posted before where you delete the telephony.db
If they both weren't there, even after a reboot, then as I said before - either the command wasn't typed in correctly, or the flash was incomplete.
Post what the 'ls' command returned to you after entering it in (ie. mmssms.db and/or telephony.db)
Its telling me not found after I enter "telephony databases"
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Well I got that command to work that deletes the telephony DB but I still cant download certain mms it says download was unsuccessful
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Am I the only 1 who can't download mms on this phone?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Certain mms types will not work unless you're on a stock based rom. I believe it is the slideshows that are the problem.

[Q] rom manager won't flash cw or amon on g1

Hey guys I'm very new to all this, I just used the z4root (Permenent root) method on my g1 dream and I would like to try a new rom on it but for some reason rom manager will not flash clockwork mod recovery or amon on it, it keeps saying that an error has occured when trying to access special privileges or something like that. does is matter if I'm using the free version or not? and do I need to put a custome hboot or bootloader on the phone as well? I've been reading for the last two days through these forums and I'm really lost and confused on how to do this. I understand that I must flash the rom from the custom recovery but can I get to the recovery through the hboot/bootloader once the custom recovery is flashed? Please help anyone. I appreciate it.
Never used z4 so cant really help there but i do know that you need a custom recovery to flash anything. So the question is can you get a recovery flashed. Can you boot into the os and log in? if so maybe you can get a terminal from the market and flash amonra from there with the instructions in his op. Not sure but worth a try.
z4root dont work proplerly try unviersal androot
Cool, hey johnson8 I really appreciate your help...so you're saying that the z4root has something to do with my phone not being able to download three recovery?

Go to ezterry thread on 14 MB hack and fastboot flash new amonra recovery the radio and spl. Follow all instructions in there and try again. That will get u a good recovery new radio/spl and more ram comes with it. The new roms need that combo.

This is the guide you need to set up adb on your computer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
If you have any questions i will try to help. After this is done you should be set up to run adb and fastboot commands from your pc.
Do everything in this guide except the recovery image. You will be doing that via ezterry's thread with amonra recovery. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck
Ok will do..I appreciate all your help and have a safe trip..
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
No problem. I check frequently so if u have any questions I'll try to answer promptly. Also u will see shadowch31 in ezterry's thread among others. He can help guide as well. Just follow instructions exactly and don't freak out and pull your battery during any of the process even if it looks hung. Good luck

[Request] Search to Recent Apps

I would like to request one of the fine Droid 3 devs help to port this little mod that changes the search button on the screen to recent apps so its more like the Galaxy Nexus.
Original link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516942
Thanks!
What rom do you want this to work for?

Powers, I sent you a PM with a link for your friend to test.
EDIT: Stupid me forgot to modify the KL file. If the flash is successful, have him modify the search key to APP_SWITCH and see if it works. Otherwise I will update the zip when I can (chances are tonight when I'm home).

Awesome bio thanks. Didn't mean to go around you just thought some of these boys could help.
No problem. Let me know if it works or not. Id like to get it setup and posted for these folks if possible.
EDIT: I updated the zip powers. I'd like someone else to give this a try if possible tonight. PM me if you'd like to test on an AOSP ICS ROM.

Boot Loop! At first when he started it up it showed a screen similar to when you wipe the cache, "Android is optimizing its apps" or whatever but this one said "The process 1%aa is out of enforcement, then it proceeded to optimize the apps 1 out of 137. After that it started boot looping.

I was using v8 and it didn't have this option. Downloaded v9 from second post (why didn't you put in first post ) and it worked.
You also forgot to mention that we should use SM to to run /data/99SuperCharger.sh at boot so that changes won't revert after restart.
Thanks for your guide
EDIT: For some reason changes revert after restart even when I set 99SuperCharger to run at boot !!
