Hi all
i am using darky's 9.5 ROM
now i wanna upgrade to an official ginger bread ROM through kies
what should i do now?
Kies always keeps on saying
"No update is available for your mobile"
Kies uses your current firmware info to determine whether there is an update for your rom version and carrier. Because custom rom's don't fit these properly they just appear as not update available. I suggest you go here for the Kies Patcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628
Download it and spoof Kies to your carrier code then try and update. If it doesn't work then it may mean it isn't available for your carrier and probably easier to update yourself

No Kies update server does not have your phones firmware on its check list its no longer updatable by kies as product codes firmware and hardware ID match nothing on the Kies server .
Possible to use spoof to inform Kies you have different firmware .

Hi,
right now I am using JPY firmware 2.2.1 and I would like to upgrade it. But not through ODIN, but officially through KIES. However, when I try to do this with kies it shows that 'This version of the device cannot be updated'. Is there still any possible way to upgrade my firmware through KIES? As I could not find one.
Upgrade to what 2.3.3 ???
You have to wait for it to be released and your phone network provider to update it and send it to the Kies server .
Not released yet .

Hi,
I have the 1.5.3_10124 version of Kies
When i connect the usb, everything goes fine.
but then it shows:-
Model Name: GT-I9000
Current Version PDA:JP6 / PHONE: JP2 / CSC: JP5
This device's version cannot be updated.
PLEASE HELP ME OUT!
I just can't believe people still rely on kies and get confused and mad because there wasn't an update or something. Get the last version of kies and try with it. If there is no update for your operator then kies won't find an update. Even if there are gingerbread updates for other countries there may be none for yours, so you can wait for weeks to get one. All of you should realize how useless kies is and that if you want new updates only from kies you should be patient (it might take quite some time), you shouldn't get angry and you shouldn't make new threads about how come kies didn't find new updates for your device's version.
Then you can download Odin and start using android the way it was intended - like an open source OS and not a closed dependent one relying only on Samsung and kies.
Just use Odin and flash the new rom
Hi,
I recently purchased my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and when I connect it to Kies it does not know the firmware version.
It just appears blank on Kies...
Current firmware version :
When I go into the settings of the phone is says Froyo 2.2 but it says
Baseband: Unknown
I cannot transfer any files using Kies and would obviously really really appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Sam
To know baseband version you can check by dialling *#1234#.
I think Kies is not recognising your device due to version mismatch with your device and kies. Best way is to search for kies version compatible with galaxy i9000 from samsung website and install the proper version by downloading.

Thank you for replying!
I uninstalled Kies and installed the version from Samsung Australia's website. Still not working though
I can just add files treating it like a USB but I assume when Gingerbread comes out in Australia in the next few months for the phone I will need Kies to update it?
I also assume it is not good that it isn't displaying the Baseband version?
Hi all,
I need help here. My phone (with stock Android 2.3.6) does not upgrade through OTA and therefore I only rely on Kies.
Kies says that there is a firmware upgrade available, but when I start the upgrade process, it stops (mostly between 13 to 15%... only once it went to 65%) and then it stops and says:
"Failed to run firmware upgrade, Unknown error occurred"
I upgraded the Kies to least version already. So please help
you must have a reliable internet connection to update through Kies. If Kies fail just download an ICS ROM and upgrade via PC Odin.
And most importantly read around the threads before doing anything, the search function is your friend, it helps to be informed before jumping into something you are not familiar with.
Thanks rcaballero,
As you rightly said I would not do anything without understanding it first. I am not familiar with pc odin yet and am afraid to use it at the moment.
My internet connection is fine. I have rather tried it on 2 different internet connections till now but still no luck :-(
By the way my Kies is showing that my firmware now is: PDA:LA1 / PHONE:LA4 / CSC:LA1 (PAK)
and new firmware available is: PDA:LPD / PHONE:LPT / CSC:LP7 (PAK)
If I go for download from sammobile, should I search for the same firmware or any newer ICS ROM will work?
you could look for the same or use any other if you cannot find it, I've tried flashing ICS ROMs for India, Poland and Philippines not much of a difference.
Just stick to what's best for you
