Pm'ed you. Can't figure out how to post it but I can email it to you.
Pm'ed you back .. Thanks a lot
Got your email thanks dude.
But it didn't work .. it says Application not installed.
I don't think it's from the file that you've sent but it may be the way that I have to install it.. Shall I install it normally like what I do with other apps or should I close or consider doing something before that??
Any Ideas
not really, sorry it didnt work. i have 3.1 wifi only version.
i just copied it out of system/app with root explorer.
i would think it would install like any other app. but obviously it doesn't.
maybe check and make sure there isnt a contacts.apk already in system/app?

Hey guys, I've tried searching around with no luck. I was working a little too fast uninstalling At&t bloatware and accidentally removed the Picture Gallery. I cannot seem to find a way to reinstall it. I've enabled non-market apps and have tried installing a few apk's from the forums but it always results in "application was not installed". Can someone please help me out?
Running stock Eclair
You can't just reinstall a system app like you would a non market app. You have to take the gallery.apk and use root explorer to place it in the appropriate location, which would be system/app.
Thanks. I had actually tried that too with the same results. Perhaps I didn't have the correct apk. Anyone have a specific version for the captivate?

You're still running stock? If so, you're gonna need to copy and paste both of these files into System/App through root explorer.
The apk is the actual Gallery. You have to unzip the other folder first!!!! Then move that file in with the apk.
That worked thanks! Yea I'm running stock. I've tried may ROMs but all the little bugs really bother me. Stock runs prefect and quite honesty, performance increase isn't very significant. Plus, I've customized it quite well to have most of the same features of 2.2+.

Cool cool, glad I could help.

might want to go to the Droid x forums
The Gallery 3D is actually in the market.
It's called "Gallery 3D" by Rayman50.

i tried. people have the same problem but they still have the odex. i dont think it will function without it. at least i've tried n still no good. i'm waiting for a response hopefully they upload yet. but so far no one has. so i'm trying to find a solution wherever i can.
anyone have this or can tell me how to install it?
the one thing i really miss in revolt and gingervolt is the stock alarm/clock app. much better app, imo.
found it in the v4 zip provided by mt, but can't actually get it to install. no idea if this is because it's a different version and it doesn't work in gingerbread, or i need to delete the deskclock.apk that comes with gingervolt, or what . . .
i asked about this sometime back on the revolt thread and the general answer was "just find the apk and install it", but can't get this to work . . .
any advice?
thanks
Wow, I love that app too, it is by far the best alarm clock that i have used and I have also asked for the apk. Won't someone hear our cries!

Try pasting the below file into system/app folder on your phone. You have to use something like Root Explorer to do this, and you must check the r/w box in Root Explorer so that you can paste the apk into the system/app folder.
Don't try directly installing it, just paste it into the folder i told you. I don't know if this will work, because I currently am trying to get the OTA to come, and can't test!

Anyone get this to work? I, too, am interested in having the stock clock/alarm/timer.
I think KOG has all the original apk

I installed the new CM7 rom + Gapps.
Everything worked fine but the CM's calculator & calendar are far from what i was used on my stock 2.3.5 GB rom.
I've asked this same question on CM forum but no one replied so i'll try to ask here.
How can i replace my calculator with my old one?
I've successfully extracted the calculator apk from my old rom and have it on my sdcard ready to be installed.
But for some reason i cant get it to install and i even tried to put it on system/apps dir replacing the old one without success.
i know this is possible because i saw someone porting the same calculator to a nexus phone
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522009)
with the apk from that post i could run and install the calculator but the resolution would not fit my screen
any help?
thank you very much, mornaistar

the calendar.apk that you got from old rom, put it in /system/app, now change its permissions using root explorer as follows
Read permission to all i.e. owner, group and others
Write permission to owner
rest unchecked..
after this reboot your phone.. this should work.. if it doesn't that means the apk is not compatible with CM7 firmware and you can search for some other calendar app that suits your needs
i've tested this and it wont work.
can someone port the apps for CM firmware? i know it's possible since xda users made it for other phones
i was able to run one of those ported apps in my galaxy s but the resolution was all wrong
I really used the stock Voice Dialer a lot which has been absent from GV 2.0 and Broken Out. I found the VoiceDialer.apk and VoiceDialer.odex from the RevoZV7GBStock.zip and put them in my /system/app, but it doesn't seem to have done any good... Does anyone know how I can install it? Do I need the .apk/.odex from V8 (I'm on Broken Out)?

Yes! I was able to find the deodexed VoiceDialer.apk in the GingerVolt1.3.zip, copied it to the /system/app, rebooted and it works!!!!! Thank you, MT, without even trying!
Now I'd like to figure out how to deodex some for myself... I'd really like the stock calendar widget.
And just to post some more to myself... The calendar widget is in the stock app installer by MT if anyone is interested. Got what I need, now I need to back it all up...
Hey guys!
I've noticed that Sammy did a awful job when it comes to our stock Android.
I was a happy user of CyanogenMod but I really missed some Sammy stock apps and reverted back to stock ROM.
Now I'm creating a bareboned stock-based ROM for my personal use, but when I remove some apps, I noticed that they still appeared on my launcher.
On the /system/app directory, there is some Launcher*.apk files, where the * is something like AlarmClock, Browser, Calculator. The apps that I removed only disappeared when I deleted the matching Launcher*.apk too.
I wonder if there is some way to bypass this? By bypass I mean, remove the Launcher*.apk files and still have the icons on my launcher.
Thanks!
Maybe u can try using Root Uninstall.. See if it help u out to clean up all the apps that u wanted to remove include the system/app files also u can remove it easily....
here u can get the apps
link
Correct me if Im wrong ok.
Thanks for the help, but this is not what I want I think I wasn't clear enough. I want to remove the dependency of a second APK to show the icons on my launcher. Guess that is has been hard-coded by samsung. Oh god, why...
Try titanium backup, make backup then restore, I dunno why, but it worked for me with some apps. Or try a different launcher and see what happens.

I'm using Holo Launcher I'm gonna try it another time, maybe LauncherPro and ADW.
I noticed that this only exists in my Brazilian ROM, since this don't happens on the XWKTM. therefore, this thread isn't needed anymore. Thanks for those who helped!
