Hi does anyone know how i can change the amount of rows and collums in the default samsung home launcher. I have set LCD density to 182 looks great but a wast of space bellow on desktop cause not enough rows and collums. I have tried launcher pro adw etc they all suck juice and i really prefer the samsung one any help i would really apreciate it may be a simple change in the build.prop thanks in advance.

I am not familiar with the HOME of Android OS.
Currently using Panda Home for my Gtab but also tried couple of other HOME app.(forgot names..) but none of them.. seems like not let me display many icons on the screen. I mean, I see the big gap between icons..
Is there any app to let me put more icons on Pandahome? or Do I need to use some specific HOME app to do that?
let me know...
Both adw launcher and launcher pro allow you to set the number of rows and columns on the screen. I prefer adw .
He is correct, adw or launcher pro are the flavors of choice around here. Personally I use Launcher pro. In the advanced setting you can set how many rows, columns, and icons to allow.
Thanks!
I see.. its relying on HOME APP.. I guess, I did not tried those two yet.
I will try it out.
thanks all!
Hi is there a app or setting to change the icon and Widget spacing? Iwant to put them closer, there is so much space wasted.
Many third party launchers such as launcher pro or adw allow you to adjust the amount of columns and rows used allowing you to add more icons.

how about an edit so you don't have to run another app
I would think there would be a configuration file with spacing in it that you could edit so you don't have to run another app. There are a lot of good launcher apps but the only thing I don't like about the home screen is the spacing and don't want to have to have another app running just to resolve that.
What rom are you running? If you are rooted there are roms that have stock but only icons spacing changed. Can't find post right now. If you aren't rooted you'll need to write to HTC to change their launcher.

Hello all,
maybe somebody had same troubles and will give me some advice how to do it.
I changed resolution of display ( I wanted to get more space and to add more icons and widgets on screen).
When I change resolution, I get more space on right side and on bottom. But I cannot fill it with widgets etc.
Is it possible to use this space?
Thank You for comments
Not with touchwiz. Install something like launcher pro, or adw . Something that can add more columns and rows to your homescreen.
is root required for changing the resolution?
So, I am working on a stripped, rooted 2.2.2 (nothing special, just a modded version of 2.2.2) and I have set the LCD density to 120. In the dell stage UI, designed specifically for 480x800 at 160dpi, it doesn't work too well.
I am looking for a launcher that will adapt the widget and application rows and columns to an appropriate number based on screen density, has a good UI (preferably Honeycomb or a 3D UI) and is well-polished, something people would use as an everyday UI. Any ideas?

Try LauncherPro, there is a free version. It has the ability to change the number of rows and columns.
You may have tried it, but I know that with LauncherPro you can choose 5 or 6 columns or rows of icons.
I'm not sure how it works when you modify the dpi.
Zeam Launcher is my new favourite. You can set your rows/columns, as well. Smooth and quick, and I rarely get redraws (when I do, they render very quickly).
I've been hearing good stuff about those launchers, especially LaucnherPro. I'll look into them
VTL Launcher
I use VTL on my tablets. You can select the numbers of rows and columns to make widgets and icons fit to you liking.
The other beauty is that you can have up to 3 dock bars (left, right and bottom). You can vary the size, thickness, of these dock bars as well. This can be used to fine tune the spacing of widgets/icons.
You can also lock the desktop so once you have it the way you want it so nothing get dragged out of place.
No free version, but it's cheap. It's worth a look.
Hi,
Does anyone know how to changed the icon font size on the home screen and app drawer? The text is ridiculous small that it's causing my eyes to strain. I've tried increasing the font size but it does nothing for icons.
Thanks.
Stock launcher has very few personalization settings. You should change launcher and choose something like nova or lawnchair.

Nova was the first thing I thought of. I'm coming from the Mate 10 16.9 ratio and can't get use to the new 20.9 ratio. It like my TV remote. It's a nice phone but I think I will send it back as I like a wider screen
In Developer option change dpi size, higher value give more little font and viceversa
