[Q] Best Android ROM and how to install it

Hello guys,
I'm from the Xperia Arc forums and know how to flash Android phones, but one of my friends has a HTC XDA Diamond and WinMobile 6.1 on it and wants Android on it.
After he saw how awesome Android is on my Xperia X10 and now on my Xperia Arc...
So he wants to know which Android ROM is the best one and how to install it?
The ROM should be:
- as fast as possible
- as stable as possible
- most up to date regarding the Android version
- most/all stuff should be working
He wants me to install it and choose the ROM as he thinks I'm good at that stuff (well, I'm good on Android...).
So please tell me which ROM is the one to use and how to put it on his device.
I have no experience with WinMobile so please don't be rude to me.

[Q] I'm planning to root my phone. 2 month droid user here. A complete noob.

I plan on rooting because I read that custom ROMs can enhance the performance of my phone.
I have read the guide to rooting and some other links and I think I have understood the procedures, but as I read along the thread, some has users came across problems, then the discussion had a lot of codes, words/terms and procedures mentioned that I'm not familiar with.
1.) Should I first learn those things then proceed to rooting? Or will I learn it in the process?
2.) After rooting, what should I do or install to my phone to make my phone perform better. (in terms of battery, games, sms, wifi, apps, UI perf)
If I left out questions that I should be asking, please do tell me. And provide the answer as well ^_^
I'm really new to this android stuff. Only got this droid phone 2 months ago.

first root,reboot and try to install ROM manager from play store
then CWM - through ROM manager is fine too....but check rusty's posts for the CWM...that is the best
nandroid backup...which means hold volume down key+power key simultaneously, you will see a darker screen of LG and then a menu appearing with different options...look out for backup and then do backup.(for these actions, try to keep your battery charged to avoid issues)
after backup, use a stock based ROM first, something like Django Manouche (check in developers section) which is very stable with a stock Kernel.use it for a few days and see...if the voice clarity of an issues with wifi or mobile data/3G, then Flash a BB...yours is on V20h now.
BUT YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND A FEW TERMS FOR SURE and for that you have to read the opening posts, guides to sure what you are doing.

I suggest you take a look at baseband and ril concepts. Theres a fixed topic from tonyp on the development session.
Most problems with battery life, call / signal quality after flashing are related to unmatching ril and bb.

SCH-I800 Want ICS or Root / Please Help

Okay, this is my first post, I have stopped by I feel 100 times but always seem to stumble over and over in the threads. I am wanting to optimize my old 7 inch tab.
First, here are my Specs of my Tab:
Model: SCH-I800
Hardware Version: I800.0.3
Firmware: 2.3.5
Baseband: S:I800.0.3V.E104
Kernel: 2.6.35.7
SCH-I800.E104
Now my first option is to have Jelly Bean or ICS. If there is no way to surely get it done cleanly then I would like to root then possibly put a different ROM.
Can anybody provide a simple step by step? I appreciate it, I also wouldn't mind contributing if this gets completed.

Guys I got an Lafone Galaxy S3 mini phone, obviously a chinise one, It looks like a mini nexus -_- , It has the touchwiz, I guess the original one, the android version shows 4.0.3, it has the ICS feel still, Theres some thng strange, I get the Zombie Art by Larkson when I tap on system version.
IT has a Single core MT6575 Armv7 rev10 Processor .

The first thing you should always do is a search, second is post in the proper section.
After a fast google using the name of your phone and XDA in the search box, I found your phones GENERAL forum.

Seems to be from Jul 22 so I would guess not. Still newer than what I had saved but this seems to be windows only again. What I had was linux only. I posted it at the bottom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413390
But if the sensors work here, I'd like to know because then I would compare a few files.
