Just a quick question here.
When I flash some i9000 themes, I notice that in CWM it reports it as all fine and dandy, no errors, the dialogue telling me that I am good to reboot. The problem is when I reboot, nothing has changed, I will have the same theme that I had before I flashed. I have tried a revert theme for my ROM, then flashing a theme again and result in the same thing.
Would it be safe to assume that the theme zips are cwm2 and when I flash them in cwm3, it shows the correct dialogue, but doesn't actually flash them?

I'm having a strange issue with my N1. If I try to apply a theme to any rom I get a boot loop. I've tried this on CM6 after a complete wipe, I've tried it on Pauls Desire Rom. I've tried it on RoDrIgUeZsTyLe rom. I've tried glass theme, NexTheme 2.2. Every theme I try seems to put me in a boot loop. Anyone have any idea what it could be?
As stated I have tried a complete wipe, fresh install and then the theme and nothing works.
You need to apply a theme ONLY to a specific ROM that this theme is made for.
Unless you do that, you get a boot loop.
So nothing strange here...

Maybe I didn't make that clear. I am using the correct theme for the correct rom. NexTheme 2.2 is for CM3 RC3 which is what I tried to apply it to and got a boot loop. But in the past I have gotten this problem with every rom I installed and tried to apply a theme too..
theme boot loop
I am having the same problem did you ever figure that out?
Hi All,
1. I have recently flashed an Australian i9000 (International) to JPO with 3e recovery
2. I flashed CF-Root to get back to 2e
3. I flashed clockwork recovery and am able to boot into it
4. **Whenever I apply a theme that is packaged as a .zip, eg elegant steel or simplicity everything appears to go alright with the flash, although it only takes about 2 seconds, then when i tell the phone to reboot, there is NO CHANGE?**
I find this very odd. I have root and busybox and all sorts of other stuff, I even tried removing my lagfix, reflashing to a stock 2.1 factory firmware and starting all over repeating steps above, but to no avail.
NB: Everything else on the phone works fine, and I have Launcher Pro installed
Please give any insight you have to offer.
Thanks in advance,
Alex
No help?
So im guessing no1 knows what this problem is?
Somebody please help!
I've just flash overcome rom v1.2.3 together with its overcome kernel v2.0.
It's running smooth and fine and now I'd like to apply a custom theme on it but it just keep stucking.
I've tried using recovery mode (stuck while installing) & metamorph (stuck while applying) but still i couldn't work it out. I just don't understand why would it keep stucking around -.-
May i know what shall i do?
Before applying a custom theme in recovery mode, I had renamed the .zip file to update.zip.
Hello all.
*I have conducted searches and couldn't find much on the subjects, or have found irrelevant information.*
I'm relatively new the modding the SGSi9000 and have just as of recently upgraded to the leaked 2.3.3 and installed Darky's ROM v10 RC4 with CWM3.
I have been trying to install themes for my phone by downloading the themes .zip and putting the phone into recovery mode and installing the said .zip, however the phone ALWAYS goes into a bootloop and won't get out of it unless I reinstall Darky's ROM v10 RC4.
- Is there a way I can make a backup of Darky's Rom and just reinstall that using CWM so I don't have to reinstall everything from scratch using ODIN? If this is possible, will it get me out of the bootloop caused by the failed installation of a theme? It's a fairly tedious process.
- If not, is there a way to get out of the bootloop after the failed installation of a theme and revert back to the way just before I tried to install a theme?
I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong (I must be) and if there was an up-to-date guide on how to install themes correctly? The themes I'm talking about are the ones as follows:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000049
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022956
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042516
- I was also wondering as how to how I could change the animated Samsung Galaxy S logo and the sound it makes just after boot. I've read that you can't change the writing of the static Samsung Galaxy S so that doesn't bother me. If there was an up-to-date guide on this I'd also be happy.
Fware: 2.3.3
Baseband: i9000XXJVK
Build: Darky's v10.0 RC4.
If you need anymore information then please do ask. Thanks in advance.
- Gee

I honestly don't think I know anywhere near enough to customise my own ROM... I already have a boot animation from some themes thread that I'd like to use, was just wondering how to get that on there instead of the animated SGS logo.
Also, have you got an answer to my question in relation to the bootloop and making a backup?
Thanks.
If you made a backup from recovery before flashing the theme, then hold the power button down during the bootloop until the phone switches off. As soon as the screen goes dark, hold the three buttons as normal to go into recovery. If you can't turn the power off with the button, then pull the battery, replace it and go into recovery mode as normal.
From recovery, just restore your backup as normal.

Is RomKitchen for 2.2 or 2.3?
Experiencing a few issues.
I want to flash a fresh version of Milkys rom because the current version I have won't let me flash a new theme.
I have the current version backed up and can restore it everytime and it works fine.
Flashing a new copy doesnt work. I get force closures and other issues such as partial themes.
I've flashed back to JPU and JPY and I can then update to JVO through kies without issue.
Even then, I don't get the result I know I should get when flashing Milkys rom. For example, there is no theme.
If I try to factory reset or clearing cache etc, I just get bootloops.
I then restore the original version of the rom that I have backed up and it works fine but I can't flash themes or rather they make no difference and I can't factory reset for the same reasons as above.
Whats going on ?
Do I need to wipe the int sd card at all ? What is safe to delete ? What do I need to get rid of ?
Help !
Please !!
The best thing you can do is a complete format of your sd card in recovery mode.
Btw pay attention, you MUST reflash with odin a deodexed stock JVx (the base rom your theme needs) because just kernel and bootloaders (if i remeber well) should remain on your SD!
Then wipe everything, dalvik cache included.
After that you can put on your SD the theme and then install it by recovery.
PS: this way will erase your backups also, so copy that file to your computer to get back (if you need to).
ok. Fed up now lol
Formatted sd card from recovery and checked it is clean.
Using Odin, flashed JVR.
Using odin flashed Milky v1.2. About phone says I have the rom but zero theming.
Put onto the clean sdcard the milky 1.3 patch and a theme zip.
Flashed the 1.3 patch, rebooted and then flashed the theme but I can't get any theming at all.
Whats up with this damn thing ?
Oh and everytime I'm doing a factory reset in Milky I'm getting bootloops. Is this cos the lagfix is active ?
Ofc, if you have lagfix you must disable them before any kind of installation

Milky's is ODEXed. Are you sure you have ODEX theme you try to install?
If you try DEODEXed theme, it won't work.
Yeah, it was an odexed theme.
